From a religious (Christian) perspective, the two are theoretically branches of the same tree.

Jesus, when asked about the commandments, narrowed the 10 down to 2, in which all the commandments reside.
"Love your neighbor as you would yourself."

Not bearing false witness falls under that commandment.
Being a buddy falls under that commandment.

I don't believe either one is independent of the other. (Of course that concept throws a royal monkeywrench into a lot of popular attitudes seen in today's society. Issues such as infidelity, greed, covetousness, stealing, etc, are all violations of the same theology which supports both truth and friendship.)

Truth is singular and formless, while friendship kind of plural and has somewhat of a form.

That more like, would you lie to a friend if served some sort of purpose like protecting them, then your picking friendship. Or would you lie, just to protect the truth?

If you told the truth to hurt someone, or for the sole purpose of protection, then it truth, but then, if it used to protect, then its friendship.

Perhaps you wish to remain anonymous? O.K. I can respect that.

Perhaps another question then?

Feel free to answer any one of the below.

1. Do you own a drivers Licence, yes or no?
2. Do you currently own your own car, yes or no?
3. When did you first sign up to ATS, date please?
4. On which day of the week were you born?

As I said, indulge me.

Korg.

I do not recall.

Thank you.

Now we are presented with three distinct possibilities.

1. You answered all of the questions above truthfully

or

2. You answered some of the questions truthfully

or

3. You answered none of the questions truthfully.

As I can see that your registration date on your profile states 2011, which suggests that you were either not truthful with your answers or that you have previously signed up under a different profile.

I am of course unable to know for certain whether you are telling the truth about owning a drivers license or for that matter two cars

Then the truth of this is that all of the three possibilities could be the truth, the only way to know which is the truth would be for there to be evidence.

No, I'm not asking for your birth cert or your drivers licence etc....

Only to demonstrate that there is a TRUTH and what appears to be subjective truth only appears as such because there is insufficient data to say it is one thing or another.

I for example, was born on a Thursday... that is certainly the truth... I was not born on any other day. Though of course you only have my word for it that I am telling you the truth.

Do you follow?

Korg.

I follow and agree. You are not privy to the evidence, and thus you are not privy to the truth value of my statements.

Do you have a point to add to this?

So you agree that the truth is that I am unable to determine which of the three possibilities is true or false?

Then care to retract This Statement then?

Korg.

You concede that there is a definite correct answer, and that it is true that with insufficient evidence it is impossible to determine which of three logical arguments is true.

Yet you state in your earlier post that,

" I would argue there is no absolute truth and knowledge, that truth and knowledge are human in origin and practice. Numbers as well. "

You also stated,

"What I said was numbers are not absolute"

There is a disconnect in your logic.

Korg.
