Alright lets run with that.

Who else would be throwing a hissy fit about a MOVIE mocking LIL Kimmy ?

Answer:

No one but North Korea.

The hack initially didn't mention the movie at all. In fact, 3 days before the attack, the hackers wanted money.

Hackers sent extortion email to Sony executives 3 days before attack

We've got great damage by Sony Pictures.
The compensation for it, monetary compensation we want.
Pay the damage, or Sony Pictures will be bombarded as a whole.
You know us very well. We never wait long.
You'd better behave wisely.
From God'sApstls

Then, the attack:

"We've already warned you, and this is just the beginning," the message read. In that message, the hackers called themselves Guardians of Peace, or GOP.

There's more - this alleged statement was on December 1st (the article's date, or earlier).
FBI memo warns of malware possibly linked to hack at Sony Pictures

Reacting to the news that North Korea is behind the attacks, a person claiming to represent GOP told Salted Hash:

"We are an international organization including famous figures in the politics and society from several nations such as United States, United Kingdom and France. We are not under direction of any state.

"Our aim is not at the film The Interview as Sony Pictures suggests. But it is widely reported as if our activity is related to The Interview. This shows how dangerous film The Interview is. The Interview is very dangerous enough to cause a massive hack attack. Sony Pictures produced the film harming the regional peace and security and violating human rights for money.

"The news with The Interview fully acquaints us with the crimes of Sony Pictures. Like this, their activity is contrary to our philosophy. We struggle to fight against such greed of Sony Pictures."

On Monday, the 8th of December, there was this (from the first link):
In latest Sony hack Pastebin hackers again talk about unmet demands and deny responsibility for threatening emails.
Here is where they seem to first mention a movie - which is not referenced by name - nor is it seemingly the focus of the message:

"Do carry out our demand if you want to escape us. And, Stop immediately showing the movie of terrorism which can break regional peace and cause the War!"

To me, it seems like their position evolved into including the movie in their demands based on Sony's attribution of it, rather than being the prime motivator of the attackers. If that is the case, what then is the motive for North Korea?

Anyone else thinks this is just a marketing ploy by Sony?

Crossed my mind, but I have a hard time thinking if this was a gorilla marketing ploy that they would risk being un politically correct with some of their leaked details.
Like making comments about the movies Obama would watch , Calling Will smith kids nuts along with Angelina jolie. releasing social security numbers, income and other personal information, etc..

Now that doesn't mean they wouldn't try to turn this into a kardashian deal. Where they wen't from insignificant to billionaires over a leaked p()rno tape. Obviously Sony isnt insignificant, but they could turn a crappy movie into a significant success.

Sony hasn't put out a good movie in years.

This is the best advertising they could possibly buy.

Have to agree.. the story lines are rubbish...

You're telling me that North Korea did it? ha!...HA!... HA!

Seriously? You think the "Young General" did it? This hack from a guy who is very Pro-Western I might add compared to the previous leader. Not only that why would he ask for investigation? What to some how say look we didn't do it, but we are going to help you find who did it by leading you astray...He knew everyone was thinking it was him, so he probably sat in his room thinking...F#$% now I have to prove my innocence because he has been watching all those cops brutally beating people in America, and he finally realized that in America you are guilty until proven innocent...oh wait I meant the other way around...or not anymore at least...

Secondly, this movie coming from one large Jew fro and a skinny sleazy rat is all about killing the leader....WHO THE F wouldn't be upset about being targeted and killed all the while being humiliated and demoralized as a human being. You so easily forget that any human being deserves all the "God given rights" that includes the dictators that includes the peasants that includes the people we lock up. WE are all humans. Don't belittle a man because of what you hear from the media, nor given him credit because he boasts. Listen to his actions whilst watching his words.

Lastly, he may or may not have done it, but we used to have a motto in the court of law. Innocent until proven guilty, which meant we don't accuse, mistreat, or abuse someone until they are proven guilty of doing the alleged crime. There is no evidence that North Korea is tied to this hack, so why is it that you have people calling for the punishment of that nation. Not only that they are calling punishment for Sony. (On the Sony thing, you better be glad they pulled it and aren't posting it everywhere because if they did you, my little friends, would be so bewildered by what would be posted about Sony and their connections to the Shadow Government, so enjoy your ignorant blissful lives a little bit longer while Sony complies to the demands.) Sony has pulled movies before, yet this one is the one you want to talk about. Hell, even if they had just said we are going to delay it. People still would be calling for punishment and that Sony were sissies. None of the people know how to shut up and enjoy their lives, nor do they appreciate the hardships their ancestors had to endure for ALL of us to get here. You think you have it rough. Bull#, my friends, you do not know tough times...but you will soon.

You see NK refuses to be pushed around like the Arabs by the west

Good for them

The Arabs have fallen for every trick and scam the west can think up and now look at their problems!

NK sees this and learns

Its almost cute when someone who very apparently has no concept of the history of North Korea or what it does to its people, comes on here and starts trying to sling mud at the US comparing NK of all places to the Arabs......

Im getting you a history book for Christmas so that next time you might actually be armed with some knowledge.....

So? Japanese Sony has the say about what is done with their property not Obama. How dare he owner of something have the say of what is done with their property if an American wants to see it. Who gives a damn about Obama, it isn't about his followers it's about rightwingnuts trying to politicize everything as an attack on the left. Most of the problems the U.S. has today are a direct result of Bush and Cheney and years of war at they started. Worried the economy is getting better? Don't worry we will elect some more republicans to undo the progressive trend.

Some people are nuttier then a squirrel turd. Works both ways, left wing nut, right wing nut. This is about freedom of speech/expression and Sony choose neither.

We've all seen statements by NK before.

The rhythm is wrong, the wording is far too western.. no mention of "supreme leader" or any other commonly used rhetoric we are so very used to seeing with a North Korean statement.

This attack comes not from NK, but from another source trying to inflame all sides into a shooting match, be it political or physical.

We are being duped.. but it's not by Sony, it's not by NK, it stinks of Western intervention and shady darknet trolls.

Indeed, now all we have to do is look at the one who is first to point the finger.

"u.s officals have told sky news that an investigation has found that north korea was responsible for the hacking"

I think we have something here.

This might be a silly question but does anyone know why the NSA, those folks who know all about your granny's emails complaining about her bunions, can't find these hackers and turn them over to law enforcement and why they can't track down all the other bandwidth thieves and parasites who make the average porn viewer's life miserable, and turn them over to the nearest pitchfork wielding mob? It would help to rehabilitate the agency's image.

Just asking.

From the clips of the movie i saw on the tube it was
making fun of the good old USA.
Looked to me like the actors in the movie were way too
stupid to get the fearless leader of NK.
Just my opinion LOL
