What exactly seems unclear to you? Elaborate? Those missiles hit the engines, they are heat seekers.
Who said the plane "broke up"?
What is "odd" about the notion the plane (engine) was hit, disabled and then fell down 35,000ft?
What is "odd" about the current interpretation of events which (according to you)...don't make sense or would contradict the current idea the plane was in fact hit by a missile and crashed?

Yes but it scattered over a 9 mile area.

Let's say it broke up at 5 km altitude, then it spread over an area 3 times the height. I don't know if that is an expected outcome or not.

Did this plane get hit by a sam at 10 km altitude and descended down to the altitude it is at in that pic with the engine/wing on fire, in a somewhat controlled flight only to break up at a lower altitude?

I know the footage is zoomed in but I still think it is much lower than 10 km's.

I'm no expert but this seems strange.

Entirely possible. Small pieces start coming off after impact. Then more and more until it breaks apart.

Just a question but if a jet shot a heatseeking missile or something....wouldn't it blow out the engine right around where its on fire at?

That footage that CNN is using is from June 6th -- when an Ukrainian spy plane (An-30) was downed.

the su25 went down in a separate instance? there's reports of fighters escort on the mh17? possible real targets?

That's what I'm getting at...I didn't think many of those surface to air missiles were heatseekers....especially the ones that go that high up....but then again I'm no military man either so I wouldn't know. It was just the location of the fire that makes me think it was a heatseeker instead of one guided by radar or something.

Seeing some of those awful pictures of passengers' bodies and tying it in with the clip, i now believe that they knew they were coming down and were in brace position - lots of arms up around head etc.

Perhaps the rear of the plane became detached breaking up over a few miles, allowing debris to be strewn and the front part, with people still alive, came crashing to the ground relatively intact.

Horrific.

One detail that may point to a possible serious situation was the fact that Obama and putin were involved in a scheduled phone call in which putin informed Obama of the crash. Very odd situation and convenient to set a rough path to take in what I feel are very nervous times.

The tabloids are being printed now with The Mirrors front page stoking the fires. Three references to nearly 300 dead, 80 children on board and then putins warning not to fly over their airspace. So basically everyone should blame Russia for this tragedy before any facts are even established. Some aggressive quotes are coming out of some of the leaders and I really hope this situation can be resolved before it all kicks off.
