I'm almost beginning to think that the double slit theory has been afflicted to comet Ison...

Could it be possible that we as mass observers are changing the outcome of this comet?

Is Ison Path Change? anyone?

The conspiracy theorist seed is budding within me.

Now why wasn't ISON' s trip around the sun visible during the time it happened?

Was the system shut off? broken?

Thousands of people encouraged to come to a professional, collaborated event, presented by the "experts", to watch a black screen.

I am sure there is a good reason it tools several hours before any useable images of ISON were available. Does any one know why the huge time gap?

Could this have anything to do with it?

We plan to off-point at 17:30 UTC (12:30 pm ET) and return to normal solar observing at 20:45 UTC (3:45 pm ET).

ISON seems to be kicked in the balls - look to the behavior of the tail. Don't know if is going up our back?? wow

Whoops, that looks like the disintegration Phage was talking about. It just kind of leans over to the side and dies.

Either that, or it shows the very tiny head of ISON and its trailing debris turning away from the sun as the solar wind flares the output backwards. So maybe its a good thing for us ISONfreaks, and means there is enough material left to make a tail.

Dear Comet ISON,

Please make up your mind and figure out what exactly you are doing.

Thanks,

The Internet

*****

Every time I check its something different. It disintegrated, it didn't, it did, it didn't, it DID!

I guess I'll just have to keep refreshing.. *sigh*

Thanks cheesy. It will survive
It will emerge from the back of the sun in 3 hours. It will be as bright as two full moons I tells yah.

Maybe not as bright but who knows what nice warm presents it will bring from the sun.
Eye candy presents not doom kind.

edit on CSTam52112013 by Taino because: Doom porn off

Yup! Still alive from what see.

Maybe the flares it encountered on the way to the sun prepared it for its close encounter. I'm no scientist, just thinkin out loud.

I think the tail is dimmer right now because is changing the trajectory, right back to our direction...

it seems to be doing okay on LASCO C3. I really do not know what to say. I really hope it makes it out in one piece as that will have the greatest significance.

it looks brighter now then before entry. We must consider that ison is actually very large indeed.

This wins post of the year...... it goes to show you should never follow experts blindly. Although phage is mostly correct sometimes he is wrong.
The consensus is ison survived, how long will it be before phage joins the consensus and stop hanging around on the fringe lol, enjoy the humble pie.

STEREO A

STEREO B

Earth is in the opposite side right now, but soon will cross the plane of ISON path, at about 2o'clock in the image above, later in december.

I wish we had mor folks around here like Phage, always an intelligent and down to earth reply if you ask him something...
Kinda of low to bring him down on one little point, almost the whole astronomer community was of the opinion that Ison was history

How many times you've been wrong around here ?? No hard feelings...

Really happy to see something happening! I think this really makes it more exciting to see what happens. Even if it isn't an amazing show, we are still being left with a lot of doubt right now. The next few days should be exciting!
