Misandry is alive and well I'm afraid.
I've had to call out several woman out on facebook for it.
They typically run and hide when I rationally tell them how they are wrong for bashing men.

And I've always felt that Feminism has gone the wrong way. Feminism can truly be a great thing if it actually focused on helping women do better.
But usually it just ends up going into man bashing.

If Feminists actually focused solely on helping women be leaders instead of victims the world would be a better place indeed.

I agree, and in a perfect world, that is precisely how it would be; but in the world we have to actually live in, it just doesn't (and won't) work that way.

Society has, for quite a few years (decades) been waging a very real and deeply rooted effort to endlessly empower women, while simultaneously molding men to be, at best, generic figure heads; and at worst, weak, spineless, dysfunctional, incompetent idiots. It is absolutely surreal to think of how so many people are blissfully unaware of this, and of those who do take notice, most opt to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the truth.

It is such a taboo subject to even bring up that most people who recognize the problem feel that it's too volatile a topic to even try and talk about at any length. It's semi-comparable to the subject of male victims of domestic violence in that people just don't want to hear about it or discuss it. People are uncomfortable to stray too far from those firmly entrenched stereotypes that mass media has exhausted itself to make us all feel "comfortable" accepting. God forbid anyone make waves by challenging widely accepted modes of thought...

The fact that it took the OP more than eight months of thinking about this thread to finally go ahead and make it, speaks volumes.

I am a supporter of human dignity and human rights; and a keen observer of the misery extant across 2/3'rds of the globe; misery which we Americans do not fully witness - cocooned by our institutions.

A key element in the rise of violence on this planet - interestingly stems socially from the abusive and subservient role which is placed on the shoulders of our sisters, mothers and daughters. It produces - and I won't go into the specifics as to why here - it produces male anger and violence. Terror. And the cycle then also repeats as well.

But I will relate one interesting aspect of my career which did involve misandry (my spell checker btw recognizes misogyny but does not recognize masandry ) and a philosophy of hate run amok in the other direction. I joined a research council early in my career, being brought in to help bolster the technical strength of the team with regard to their particular area of focus.

- I was the only one who had a career in the research field in question
- I had 6 years of experience in the field compared to their average 1 year
- I held graduate degrees in the field, versus their holding no degrees in the field whatsoever
- My undergraduate and graduate degrees were from the top schools in these fields (#1, #3)
- I was the top graduate of my class
- I had published significantly in the field
- I had led a corporate group in that field which had made very well known and groundbreaking successes in the very research we were focusing upon
- I was hired 3 months after my peers were hired
- I landed a $6 million contract to perform research in that field and doubled the research council's revenue base.
- I was a leader and had the respect of 90% of the council tenures, with many requesting to work under my projects.

I was refused the single promotion allocated to our group, in lieu of a female with none of the above qualifications, and just 1 year experience out of a small college in Ohio. Her CV's highlight was that she was president of her sorority. The reason was expressed to me as being "we are attempting to be proactive to promote females into the field and she has 3 months more time here than you do" 3 months seniority and president of her sorority. I had to give it to them, it was poetic if nothing else.

But it was gender hatred. It was failure in a prescription. It was wrong.

I expressed to the Partner in charge at the time that "I was very pro female, and an advocate of human rights. However, I am not an advocate of institutionalized failure through gender or racial hatred. If you do not promote me, I will sue you for discrimination and seek career damages, since I left a lucrative career to come HERE......for a startup research initiative - at your request."

The promotion was shifted to me.

She still hates me to this day.

Sometimes, you cannot manage the world solely by allegiances to skin color or what resides between your legs. We all have to be bigger than this.

No, I disagree.

Everyone has sexual desires, that's part of being human. However, while men may be more sexually attuned than women (and I'm not convinced this is the case at all), I do not believe "many" men are sex-ruled and without restraints. To say that "many" men would rape an infant, even their own child, flies in the face of logic and history and is exactly what the OP is about.

Most men don't commit sexual crimes. Most men are wonderful husbands and fathers, brothers and friends, who would never consider rapng anyone, much less an infant.

What you've done here is paint a picture of "many" men that is totally inaccurate. It's misandry, pure and simple.

Three Bears.....I'm really speechless after reading your lengthy post. No offense, but you come across as someone who's decided to hate ALL men and women who disagree with you. You seem extremely angry and hurt. I don't know your background, or what life events may have influenced these feelings.

Your post comes across as if you see all men as the enemy. Men aren't the enemy of women, anymore than women are the enemy of men. Some men hate women, true. And, as evidenced in your posts, some women hate men. But this is a minority and not at all typical in society.

I have problems with trusting strange men because of my rape, but in no way do I equate the actions of the one individual with all men. To do so is ludicrous.
