Its kind of funny. Only religious believers call me a troll. You guys really need to come up with a new line.

It doesn't matter what thread you are on, you look for something religious to be at fault and try to start a debate on it, instead of the OP.

Since the majority of my posts are in threads about gay issues (such as this one) - - - its a given (unfortunately) religion will always be part of the debate.

I rarely go into religious threads - - - unless its about atheism.

If you start about the avatar again, it's getting old. Read about Gideon, then we can discuss that on another thread if you like.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

There are at least 2 parents included in the lawsuit. Are you not reading info provided?

Sheldon Bruck - a minor - found JONAH on his own. His parents supported his decision because they love him.

I don't know if Chaim Levin's went on his own or his parents sent him, but his mother is also included in the lawsuit.

Apparently science doesn't share your view. We have drugs that can effect the sexual preference of a rat and also they have identified genes they can turn on and off to switch sexual preferences. Not tested on humans yet but these could lead to a cure for homosexuality if anyone feels they need this. There are some gays themselves that hate being gay and wish for a "cure".

Yes, I am reading the info provided. You see it one way, I see it another. I guess it's a South Carolina and Lord is Peace kinda thing.

YOU said:

At least one of these minors out of desperation found JONAH on his own - - his parents supported him.

However - many minors are forced to go to by their parents. That is why a law was recently pass in CA outlawing repetative therapy for minors. But that law only affects professionals - - not clergy or non-licensed professionals.

I said:

You only know of one for sure one minor who went willingly on his own and the other is just a maybe. Either way, if the parents condoned it for such a long time, they should be sued too. For parental neglect or child endangerment. Just an observation as to what has been posted.

I do not rely on blogs for information, due to the fact that anyone can post on there. It doesn't mean it's the person in question to the lawsuit.

Stop bickering with each other and discuss the subject of the thread.

Only warning.

What drugs and what are they changing? As far as I know its about affecting brain chemicals - - - which is believed to be only one part of sexual orientation. In other words - - sexual orientation is believed to be far more complex.

Its not a cure - - its a treatment to alter something natural in a person. Like making Left Handed people use their Right Hand. That was a disaster.

It seems to me - - starting right now making reparative therapy for minors illegal - - - will keep fear-based parents from playing Dr. Mengele - - dragging their children to clinics for brain alterations.

Adults are on their own - - as long as these clinics don't fabricate their qualifications - intentions - "cure" - etc.

There are groups that work with gays who want to live a straight life - - but they do not promote a cure. Nor do they promote sexual orientation can be changed.

Parents also went along with recommendations to make children born Left Handed use their Right Hands. Should we sue those parents - - who did what they thought was the best thing for their children?

This is new territory for both parents of young gays and the young gays themselves. Especially those raised in an environment of believing it is an abomination of God. Which it isn't.

Ignorance requires Awareness. And YES! That is why the SPLC is very significant and very important in being the backers of this lawsuit.

You keep on saying that people blaming the Church for MANY of the world's social problems is a crutch, but you don't get into specifics or acknowledge the specifics behind those statements. You are simply trying to magically erase all specific issues about Christianity and social problems and say "take ownership of your life and stop making excuses and blaming the Church". This is hair-brained argumentation. It is a totally ignorant and almost cowardly position and mindset to have and to keep flogging on people. You sound full of hate and you try to come across like a loving Christian. Which is a total crock. Unless somebody believes what you believe, you are quite indignant and rude.

So let's get to specifics here about Christianity and social issues. Let's leave the Catholics and celibate priests who rape little boys out of the picture for now - but that is one obvious example of Christian sexual repression that is causing MASSIVE social issues worldwide that anyone with a brain can see for themselves. But the sexual repression issue, seen clearly in this example, is being played out in people's personal lives - and in all local communities and in the world at large. Young people are raised with Christian indoctrination to believe wholeheartedly in what their parents teach them and what is taught in Sunday school and the bible. Among those teachings is a strong emphasis on sexual morality. For example, no sex before marriage is a big one. Not being allowed to masturbate, because it is sinful is another. Okay, let's extrapolate those 2 issues out a ways. I know lots of Christian males who have been stuck with post secondary school, spending a lot of time well past their 20s working and going to school - with no time or opportunity to fall in love or get married. Now biology is there that human beings have an innate sex drive. It just happens, you have to accept that. So they aren't allowed to have sex before marriage and they aren't allowed to masturbate. I am telling you that firsthand I know TONS of Christian males who are the most neurotic, miserable and depressed people I have ever met. They see therapists once a week, they take tons of antidepressant medication and are led to believe they have serious mental disorders. They harbor lots of guilt for having sexual fantasies and using pornography, and are generally maladapted people with miserable lives. Depending on the specific personality traits of the individual, whether they are dominant or submissive types of people, this severe repression can even lead to situations of rape and other criminal behavior. Similar to the priests.

The repression factor is just the same, and worse, for homosexuals. Homosexuals raised in a Christian environment are depressed, seeing psychiatrists and doing poorly in school, missing out on their formative years, ending up with many severe social and medical problems, and above all else - missing out on experiencing good old fashioned LOVE, because they have been brainwashed, by the pastors and Christian teachers and parents, that homosexuality is wrong. Many commit suicide. This is an established fact. So how is this a crutch by blaming Christianity for these issues? Your quick sidestepping answers will not suffice this one. Perhaps you can read this before you go to Sunday service and ask your pastor how you could respond.

oh how you paint with a wide brush.
Can you not see that your, as well as others in this thread, attitude only add to the problem?
You are just as guilty of surpressing people as you claim others are.
Questions:
Are all gay people alike?
No
Are all liberals alike?
No
Are all Muslims alike?
No
Are all Christians alike?
No

You want to blame someone for the wrongs in the world, I can understand that.
What I do not uderstand is why you try to lump everyone who believes that Christ died for their sins into one group. There are many who claim Christianity who are not Christians.
Do PEOPLE do bad things in the name of God?
Yes.
Do all people who believe in God do bad things?
No.
I believe this is the crutch GedionFaith was referring to. Some people NEED to be able to blame others.
It makes them feel better.
Here is a little bit of truth for you.
People can be cruel.
Everyone feels out of place during their life. Everyone is different.
PEOPLE have a way of picking up on those differences and pointing them out.
This article is not about Homosexuality being right or wrong. It is about four people who looked for a cure for something THEY felt was curable. Now, that it did not work, they want their money back.
Start a thread if you want to bash religion, this is not the place for it.
If you do start a thread, try to bash the religion and not the person. You do not know what is in their hearts.

Simple answers for simple people, that is what is in their hearts. Naive and simple minded, not wanting to embrace the larger implications of their cute and fuzzy belief system.

I know lots of good Christian people, and I like all of them. But if they fail to address this issue HEAD ON without beating around the bush, about homosexuality and sin, then they are being ignorant. Pure and simple. And it is entirely fair game to force them to address the issue and talk about it in threads like this, because it is on topic and it is a valid argument and it is important. Thank you very much.
