Eh. October isn't nationally recognized as such. I think it's just a small group that started that. Not that it matters.

However October is officially:
Clergy Appreciation Month (United States)
Pregnancy Loss and Infant Loss Awareness Month (United States)
Rett Syndrome Awareness Month
Filipino American History Month (in United States)
National Arts & Humanities Month (in United States)
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History Month (LGBT History Month) (in United States)
National Cyber Security Awareness Month (in United States)
Fair Trade Month
Dwarfism Awareness Month
Auto Battery Safety Month
National Squirrel Awarness Month

I'm sorry, but every month is National Squirrel Awareness Month in my mind

Honestly.. it wasn't even really bullying. It was a one off letter from someone that maybe was trying to give her sincere private advice and she acted like someone was actually bullying her.

I mean, you guys know it's not really bullying right? One time letter, no real inflammatory language. If I were a betting person I would say an elderly person sent that letter, just my opinion. My friend had two elderly fitness nuts, complete strangers, stop him and have a serious talk about his health. They weren't intending to be rude, but they really came off that way.

I don't know, I just that this was weird, clearly it bothers her a lot (and I am not talking about the letter here) and that's what really came through to me. Not someone happy or confident in their looks.

We have several friends who are over weight but they are some of the most down to earth people we know.

True, being over weight is not healthy, but that is not for me to judge them.

All I know, is we couldn't ask for any better friends. So what if they're not fit & trim??
Their personality stands out more than their weight problem.

It could be she eats too much.

She concedes that she is obese yet objects to someone pointing it out in reference to her being a poor role model for young girls.

Obese is the new gay?

So is every "chubby" person on television a poor role model??? Oprah at one point was pretty huge and she was looked at as one of the greatest figures / role models over the last 2-3 decades...

Hondstly if she hadn't been such a hypocrite and turned a non bullying e-mail into her actually bullying a guy in public, on venue he can't even defend himself on, over 1 e-mail, I wouldn't have even responded.

She did though, so now it is go time.

I think that your synopsis of anyone based on a few off handed comments on the net is laughable. It isn't some secret I hate "minorities" ( funny phrase considering that whites are the minority of the world) so I am projecting( it is called projecting by the way freude) my hate to a socially acceptable medium.

In fact it is that I hate everyone equally on an individual basis based off of many differing criteria depending on my mood.

Also of note, your the one juxtaposing your inner failings on others, as I and others never said we hate her being fat, I was merely pointing out that the guy was absolutely right, she is fat and disgusting, and she is a hypocrite, for being a bully, while using her public platform to attempt to humiliate a guy for telling the truth.

She is also in the public eye by choice so if somebody points out she is a chunky monkey then she should keep her fat yap shut and think about going to the gym maybe cut back on one of her many daily meals or prob. what she calls 'snacks'. Put the cupcake down and eat an apple once in a while.

I'm really not even sure how to respond to this... Sounds like you have a little bully in you

If that's what you want to call it then ok. I call it being honest.

I would think somebody on tv would have thicker skin. It sounds like this lady has a lot more issues than just being fat.

Why do fat people have so many excuses? Oh I had 3 kids. Oh I have a thyroid problem. Oh I have a slow metabolism.

Bull it's because you eat too much.

When you're full stop eating. Simple as that.

anti bulling month? bullys have been around forever and now we need a month to point it out? I worry for the future of America. We need to stop being so sensitive to everything that makes us a little uncomfortable. Yes bullys suck, when i was a kid we either ran, fought, or hashed it out with words when the bully's would start being aholes. but we dealt with it on our own instead of being coddled and handed a ribbon that represented our dislike for bullys. And did i hear that kids are getting bullied on the internet now, i wish it was that easy, at least the computer screen cant punch you and then kick while ur on the ground. HEY KIDS heres an idea, if u dont like people talking # get off the internet and your precious Facebook and you wont have to deal with it. The future Generations are getting weaker because of stuff like this. The world still has aholes even when ur out of high school so you better start learning how to deal with them because in the real world you dont get to have a special month were people of the world join to stop aholes and you also dont get a pretty ribbon to match your backpack.

Parents teach your kids how to deal with bullys before its too late, bullys stop being aholes, and to rest stop being so sensitive.

In your initial post you called her a chunky monkey... You then wrote she should keep her fat yap shut and think about going to the gym... put the cupcake down...

Really??? That's ok in your opinion? Just say she's overweight and leave it at that, and yes, what you just wrote before is bullying and just mean.. I'm sure you would never say that to her face, but behind a computer it's ok making fun...

This isn't an issue of her being "chubby". She concedes that she is obese.

Being obese causes a number of serious medical conditions.

Obesity has been linked to several serious medical conditions, including:

Heart disease and stroke.
High blood pressure.
Diabetes.
Cancer.
Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
Osteoarthritis.
Gout.
Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for a short episodes during sleep) and asthma.

Oprah has fought a long and very public battle with her flab, suggesting that she sees being overweight as a serious problem.

Being obese is unhealthily and a very poor role model to set for young girls.

Hahaha I love reading your posts. You're a spark of common sense in a dimly lit world.. Whatever you did, they should make all mods go through it! I can only hope that with the freedoms we lose, there will be some sort of benefit *Ahhhh haha I know right?!*.

But having said that, even farcebook has refused recently to take down posts from people who are making public threats towards some foul swine who just raped and killed a 29 year old lady on her way home, less than 400 meters from her house.. to find her body 50k away.

The police say it can seriously jeapordise the case, public opinion can sway a jurors mind etc... but farcebook said "Ummm, nah.. *Raspberry*"

One hand ties us, the other tries to free us... it all sounds a little bit contorted to me...

His response to her bullying was "sh*tty," but it did go back to his original intended subject.

Basically, she went on a rant about bullying, which is good and all, but she missed the point of his original private email.

Seems she could have done what a local radio guy here said he did only yesterday. Someone sent him a letter, the first line was derogatory, the last line was insulting, so he just threw the letter in the trash.

No need to justify the letter with the indignation it sought to provoke. And just like anyone of us who feels insulted by ignorance. Having a good ol' QQ about it on the telly justifies to some extent the guys letter.

Unless he posted it in public, on facebook or somewhere.. she just fed his troll face.

*no pun intended*

U say anyone of us who feels insulted by ignorance???

I am more insulted by stupidity...

If she brought the subject up then I would speak my mind. Maybe not as bluntly as I did here but I sure wouldn't tell her she looks fine.

One day soon when we have a worldwide food shortage a lot of people will be singing a different tune. But that's a topic for another day.

Let me try to be PC.........

It is unfortunate that due to the massive amount of food she consumes combined with her obvious lack of exercise she put on some extra weight.

Is that better?

She also publicly battled with her weight and even admitted she was obese. Not something to follow the path of in order to get to a set destination.

I could lose a few kilo myself.. I keep finding them however, but probably because I leave them out in the open.

Point is, there's a difference between someone being publicly ridiculed, who then takes that person to task.

And then having a go at an unknown person for remarks that may well have been utterly sincere in their intentions..

^ That is how decorum looks from someone sincerely insulted.

I find it very interesting that some people feel that it is perfectly okay to be judgmental snobs when it comes to the overweight.

Never mind that obesity can be an extension of mental illness and numerous physical illnesses - that person is "fat" and therefore I can judge, judge, judge until my little heart is content.

Never mind that even if a person is "fat" solely because they eat too much and don't exercise - that isn't our business in any way shape or form because it is their life not ours. Oh no....

Because a fat person has no feelings - they are subhuman. They are today's black person, today's gay person. They are free game. Surely they can be nothing besides fat. They can't be good people. They can't be caring individuals. They can't be someone's child, someone's friend, someone's spouse. No, all they can be is fat.

But to all those judging please remember that if you are ever in a car accident, if you ever become mentally ill, if you ever have a thyroid disorder, if you ever up and decide to "let yourself go" and you then become the most horrible thing in the whole entire world, yes if YOU ever become fat - please remember that everyone has the right to judge you and you don't have the right to defend yourself because you are no longer a valid, worthy human being. You are now just adipose tissue with no right to live your life without being mentally assaulted every single day.

Of course obese people can be good and caring individuals.

That doesn't mean they aren't fat.

There's also discrimination against skinny people too. People will always find a way to nitpick and name call. Just chill out and give no thought about it. If people realize that they're getting to you, it makes it a victory for the bully.
