Student, 20, almost dies from poisoning, after 'alcohol enema'

Alexander Broughton, 20, was rushed to hospital unconscious after a rubber tube was inserted into his rectum and alcohol poured in.
The practice, known among students as 'butt chugging', took place during a party at the Pi Kappa Alpha House on the grounds of the University of Tennessee.

It's been about 12 years since I graduated from college. Safe to say nothing has changed in the line of stupidity coming out of frat houses. Clearly there is no conscious of reckless endangerment to themselves or others in their hazing, drinking, and "butt chugging" activities. Nothing will ever change that mentality. Glad I never joined and never got near those idiots.

Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said: 'Upon extensive questioning it is believed that members of the fraternity were using rubber tubing inserted into their rectums as a conduit for alcohol as the abundance of capillaries and blood vessels present greatly heightens the level and speed of the alcohol entering the blood stream as it bypasses the filtering by the liver.'

What a silly young man. The inside of your bum is like a sponge, putting alchohol where the sun doesn't shine, is a dangerous way of getting drunk, as you'll absorb the booze much quicker than drinking it. I remember someone in the UK did die from "buttchugging" a few years ago.

Not the most dignified way to go.

You'd be surprised just what sort of people are out there. Plugging isn't just for booze. I mean, people do pretty much everything up there.

I've heard, many many years ago, two old .. duckies.. liked to do this sort of thing. One died when his buddy tipped an entire bottle of port up there.

Being a college student I hear about/see things like this happen all the time. Kids in college are broke, they will do whatever to get the cheapest high or the quickest drunk. Butt-chugging, snorting vodka, eye-ball shots, it all happens.
