I wish this were a weekly thing. Like "Barack Online" every Sunday. Would be nice if it were one hour/week and the questions that got through were randomly chosen by the host's servers.

Besides taking down websites temporarily...I don't see how this could be a bad thing for him.

I really think he should keep doing it...maybe he should drop into other websites as well.

Or maybe he should just start being a redditor...posting pics of his dog sleeping in the oval office.

Also, thanks again for working to help create the housing bubble, then blaming on someone else.

Housing started collapsing before the election.

Are you seriously going to try to pin that on Obama???

Reading comprehension failures all around. If the American Government is deficient in a duty, let it be known that I believe that it does a poor job preparing its citizens to think critically and read for objective substance rather than subjective feeling.

No one's worshiping Obama. That's not the point, which is why I mentioned the Fire Side chats. Regardless of intention, how many leaders does one find actively participating in an anonymous loose consciousness forum with his/her constituents? My post was about the significance of the event and how it marks a new personable level in American politics. I could add my hopes that it will become a regular thing with this and future presidents, but that isn't necessary...or at least I thought it wasn't.

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not...this is a first and a big "internet" event.

What if Obama would come on ATS...would you be like "meh...who cares"???

It's a chance to interact with the President of the United States...not something most people get a chance to do.

It really doesn't matter if you are too cool to be impressed by this...the internet is buzzing about this...sorry you can't see the significance of this event.

A program that's been around since 1938 and that was handed, nearly outright, to Wall Street in 1981 by Ronald Reagan when it issued it's first passthrough ( mortgage backed security )... and which was made even more untenable when President George H.W. Bush signed the Housing and Community Development Act of 1992...

And out of all the crooked politicians, bankers, and investors involved in the bubble... you cherry pick the fact that Obama might have some very tenuous ties to an organization that helped folks get low interest loans.

By that standard then why aren't you vilifying every real estate agent, loan officer, HUD employee, and VA adviser as well - as they all did the same thing?

Or is the truth uncomfortably unpartisan for you?

I agree...it is an event that everyone should be excited about regardless of political leanings.

Obama has done something other Presidential candidates have never done before...hopefully he does it more often and maybe others will follow as well.

He claimed he was creating jobs, but instead he chose to use his two years with a democratic congress to ram a HC bill down their throats without input from the other side. How did you expect them to react? His stimulus package had no direction and no plan. He invested in pie in the sky ideals instead of nuts and bolts. Alternative energy is a great pursuit, but it not a pursuit meant to be undertaken when the economy of the world is in the toilet. It wasn't the time to experiment. It was a time for proven methods. Now that money and that time is gone forever, wasted and in the pockets of special interest groups and select donors to his campaign. They built zero - nothing. Good job Mr. President!

Please! He is not a unifier and he's in way over his head. Another four years of his leadership and we'll be a third world nation.

The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 (Pub.L. 110-185, 122 Stat. 613, enacted February 13, 2008) was an Act of Congress providing for several kinds of economic stimuli intended to boost the United States economy in 2008 and to avert a recession, or ameliorate economic conditions. The stimulus package was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on January 29, 2008, and in a slightly different version by the U.S. Senate on February 7, 2008. The Senate version was then approved in the House the same day. It was signed into law on February 13, 2008 by President Bush....

I can see that your enormous ego is in the way of reality, Barack Obama is an important person, he is the president of the USA. This has nothing to do with worshiping him, it's just reality. He is a human with a very significant job that can affect the whole world.

Question: We know how Republicans feel about protecting Internet Freedom. Is Internet Freedom an issue you'd push to add to the Democratic Party's 2012 platform? Answer: Internet freedom is something I know you all care passionately about; I do too. We will fight hard to make sure that the internet remains the open forum for everybody - from those who are expressing an idea to those to want to start a business. And although there will be occasional disagreements on the details of various legislative proposals, I won't stray from that principle - and it will be reflected in the platform.

Totally lies to the guy like we don't know about him and internet freedoms. I bet the guy who asked knew he would receive a blanketed statement not addressed to him but to everyone on the site.

And although there will be occasional disagreements on the details of various legislative proposals,

meaning you will disagree with what i propose

Why don't you check when and how it was administered? Then get back to us.

Oh and you seem to not mention the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed by congress in 2009. Another $800 billion wasted.ecovery

So.. just so I know the rules... Now we're going to cherry pick our bad stimulus packages based upon party affiliations? I just need to know the guidelines of the debate.

At any rate, there are other threads for that conversation. This thread is getting derailed and I'd like to return it to the reddit focus before we find ourselves discussing birth certificates and African statues that are actually in Indonesia...

If Obama came on here he would get his arse handed to him on just about everything even from someone who would support him. Most of us can read through the lies. But to be honest i would do that to just about every politician. Someone should have asked why he got Eric Holder out of the hot water considering he him self "knew nothing" about fast and furious lol.

I was impressed by Obama showing up on Reddit. Great to see a president using technology to interact with the voters.

The only negative thing was that it killed Reddit when I was trying to read something. Clicked on a link and bam, got the server overloaded error page.

That is just the cherry on top.

I don't care if people think I'm an Obama lover...this was just a really bad ass thing to do...and I'm excited about it.

Hey I was discussing the OP. You brought up the stimulus but conveniently left one out of the discussion and conveniently ignored who was responsible for doling out the cash and where and how it was to be spent.

OK Back to digital Obama. I wonder what kind of toon he rolls in WoW?

I wish Obama and Romney would do more of this unscheduled chats. If nothing else it makes them seem more real.

I agree with this completely, I would like to know more about the candidates beyond what the MSM shows us.
