Hey hello m8.

Someone mentioned you too were ex-military.

Are you collecting a monthly check as well?

The reliance on government has to start somewhere. It won't work, starting at the top. It has to come from the individual. Get rid of this "group think" scocialist crap. Individuals are going to have to become that; individuals.

No more reliance on government. Period.

Sounds good sir.

I believe you mentioned you will be ex-military soon.

Will you start us off, and re-nounce your Military Pension?

I am not relying on it nor am I relying on social security as I get older. My wife and i refuse to budget ANY government check into our fiscal planning because the government has become more mercurial as of late. I will not utilise any VA loan/loan assurance program, anything we buy, we buy with cash. And, yes, I am hoarding gold.
The work I find will be well away from the umbrella of government.

Your word is good enough for me sir.

Kudo's for enacting what you are preaching.

Since you seem to be asking everyone else....guess it's open season. Are you collecting a government check. And, no I'm not.

People say a lot of things on here never claimed to be military or ex and what the hell does it matter?

It brings me back to talking of the individual. If we start acting as if austerity is already here, then when the government cutbacks begin, there won't be the impact on my family as if we were relying on government.

Goods and services might be interrupted, but stocking food and supplies should be on the minds of every person, not just the survivor-types.

Our government is not the same government anymore. There has been a paradigm-shift, the "mission statement" has changed.

We now have a choice. Either be like any other european nation, or go it alone, away from any government program. (If we still can)

Such a decision, to move away from government socialized programs would be like dropping an atom bomb on the whole political theater, but then again, I bet you can tell us all what Enola Gay stands for.

No check for me.

I do home renovations in my own small business.

If I don't put my work boots on every day, I don't get paid.

And yes, I did start this line of question, so no worries on your asking either.

God Bless you for your entrepreneurial spirit and here's praying to your speedy and largely prosperous success so you can give some of those "where's the job" crowd a damn job and maybe reduce that particular brand of cheap whine.

Such a decision wouldn't even register on the governments radar. Now if we had people IN government who thought that way, then yes, it'd have an impact.

Side note; Enola Gay (without using wiki) wasn't that the name of one of the pilots mother?

Kudos to you. Owning one's own company, no matter the size, is not the goal of our government. I make my own products to sell. Grow most of my food, buy only what I *need*. Life is good in that way. I'd be willing to barter some good goats for some renovation work....

Read it backwards and place an o behind the G.

Harlem was once a flourishing community where the Black community was filled with entrepreneurs and many flourished and prospered until government moved in and changed all of that. I think it would definitely register. Many people hear the term "black market" and think drug pushers, pimps and numbers runners. That is a part of the black market but the largest share of that black market comes from the unlicensed non-filing individuals who operate under the radar. When the majority are operating under the radar, my guess is that is going to register too.

The op's source said over 80 means tested programs. I'd like to see some break down of these figures beyond the histrionics I'm hearing here. If this is true then we are saying that at least 1/3 of U.S. Citizens are dependent on welfare.

Yes I am going to get trolled and flamed. Liberal blah blah blah, socialist blah blah blah, don't waste your time i already did it for you.

Got it.

As for the "grey market" my bride is an RN. We already "network" in relation to that. Mine is engineering.

Why get a job or pay your bills when you think jesus is coming back?

We have a massive problem with all the religious idiots getting ready for nothing.

Wait...Jesus isn't coming back? Man, that's clinches it! I'm going down to social services tomorrow and taking my share of that stinky pie. Oh...wait...you're saying that welfare is rising because of people who think Jesus is coming back. It's the moral secularists who eschew welfare and only those Jesus freaks who plunder. For a moment there I thought you were trying to derail this thread...wait...
