Ann Romney: 'We've Given All You People Need To Know' About Family Finances

This is presumption at its absolute worst.

Even senior figures in their own party are calling for the release of these records at this point.

John McCain said this evening that he firmly believes that Romney has nothing to hide as he didn't find anything in the vetting process. If this is true, then just release the records already and put the issue to bed.

The more Romney refuses to do this, the more unliked he becomes in his own party.

The fact is, GOP voters would pretty much vote for ANYONE at this state who the GOP nominates, because they're voting "because the candidate's not Obama", not because they LIKE the candidate they've been given.

Oh so because he goes to church and gives the church some money, by default he is a wonderful human being with nothing to hide?

If this was the case how can you explain the molestation scandals of the Catholic Church? How do you explain Jim Baker? How do you explain Jerry Falwell's church being charged with fraud one upon a time? How can you explain this big huge list of evangelical's involved in scandals?

Sorry, many people give money to their church every year. That alone does not make you a good person. If that is how the first lady judges good people, she is better off in a soup kitchen than in the White House. At least in a soup kitchen she can get a dose of reality

I have a question. When is Obama going to release his transcripts? And, I am sure all the Democrats screaming about Romney not releasing his tax records, would be perfectly ok with him waiting 3 years to do this after he was elected into office?

There's absolutely no reason for you to call her names like that.

I wouldn't need to take a Mere Governor's Salary either, if I made millions a year off capital gains, which are then taxed waaaay lower than I pay on my meager income, so that was basically great Public Relations, not much else. And tithes to the Mormon Church are mandatory to stay in good standing, which is also good P.R. as well as being good if he is a true believer.

As far as the "YOU PEOPLE" comment... I guess that could have meant the media and journalists, or maybe..... just all of us 99%ers that aren't Multimillionaires who would be so understanding by being in the same boat. This is true, but this sort of elitist behavior is not winning the hearts and minds of the independents, Ron Paul supporters, many in the TPM, or anyone that has a few brain cells not locked into partisanship. The Obama campaign people must be clapping their hands in glee now with this kind of sound bite ammunition.

For his campaign people to let this kind of rhetoric to slip out leads me to believe that the GOP has made poor Mitt the sacrificial goat this November.

Or else Mitt's campaign organizers and PR people are as big a moron as he is. I find this hard to believe however, but I guess anythings possible in the circus that is American politics.

I believe she is referring to the media when she says "you people". It does absolutely infuriate me that she would use the church as some sort of shield. They give money to the church, so they must be honest people who can be trusted beyond the shadow of a doubt?

That just seems obsurd to me on so many levels. What a load of crap.

Should he release all of his personal financial records to the public? Why not defend it in a way such as, "the average person does not have to publically release personal details about thier finances, why should we"? This approach would atleast be more plausable and respectable than the video in the OP.

But whether past presidents and politicians have also released this kind of info or not, that does not deflect from the fact that they are hiding things. If they have nothing to hide those documents would be out there in the public domain already.

What's the deal? If you have nothing to be ashamed of hand over the records!

People saying "what about Obama" are right, he should too. The fact is Romney wants to be your NEXT president, and pointing out that other politicians haven't released such information does not remove the fact that Romney is deliberately hiding things too.

I personally think those who work for their nation in politics should open up their entire financial records for public scrutiny, because it raises questions about their morality if they refuse to. I also think that all investments they have in the markets should be seized and frozen for their duration when in office.

What is to stop a politician from investing in a company, gaining power, then forcing through legislation to benefit - or rewarding contracts to - that company?

I was watching the Rachel Maddow show last night , she often has a different take on the news in her opening segment which I enjoy, and she made a point that I have yet to see anybody else make about this interview with Ann Romney.

Right before Ann Romney made the comment that is the subject of this post she stated:

"You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially," she said in her interview with Robin Roberts.

Right.

And that is exactly why many want to see those returns so we can see where he has been financially and how he has led hid life.

How can we see where he has been financially if he will not......forget it....go ahead Willard keep shooting yourself in the foot.

As a matter of fact, right after she said it, the Washington Times ran a story and carefully edited out "you people" from the article but posted everything else. Several other outlets did the same thing because they realized how inflammatory those words may sound.

The bottom line is this, regardless of who you believe, the people on the street overwhelming believe she did say "you people".

I am surprised you would buy ABC's version of accounts, hook line and sinker. Haven't we spent the last 40 years bemoaning how the media has repeatedly duped us all when they need to. They do it all the time so why would you find it incredulous when they do so for Ann Romney? LOL.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter really what she said because even if you took those words out, Ann Romney comes across as a pompous, self centered, aggrandizing individual who is doing whatever it takes to protect her husband.

As a person who grew up Mormon, I say so what. Giving ten percent of your income to the Mormon church does not say what type of person you are. I knew enough people that would give money to the church and at the same time live a questionable life. I knew plenty of Mormons over the years that couldn't afford to give ten percent that were great people.

So, the fact they gave ten percent is meaningless to me.
