About 90% of those negative changes in Obamacare only affect people making over $250,000 a year.

Don't cry when they change the laws, to apply to those making 20k or less a year.....That's the whole point of it. More Government. More intrusion.

I definitely won't.

I'd be happy to be making 250k per yer... Bring the taxes! I say!

Its easy to say that when you're not earning anything close to that... Everyone has a voice when its not their money... amazing...

Actually a lot of people are pretty consistent in their values... Whether they make 20k or move up to 250K... The ones who pinch pennies and care only about their own dollar do so regardless of their income. It's a cop out to say if you made more you would be upset by this. That implies that people are guaranteed to become selfish if they make a certain amount of money. Clearly this is the nature of the GOP followers. The GOP cries constitution to hide their own greed and their followers eat up every talking point and regurgitate it back... Its obvious to the entire world, but for the misinformed FOX News viewer.

It's not greed.. Its what fair is fair... And people who have less money are more likely to compromise those values you speak of, especially when push comes to shove... Wealthier people arent usually put in the desperate situations that a person who is making $15k a year are...

And why is it that all liberals have to resort to tossing out FOX news when ever they want to make a point? You act like we all believe every single word they say. Just so you know thats not the case...

And we cry out constitution because its BEING RIPPED AWAY FROM US, and YOU people dont seem to care at all...

edit on 29-6-2012 by jhn7537 because: (no reason given)

Unless you were making those same cries throughout the entire Bush Presidency I have to call bullsh*t on you. I'm not even a liberal though I get labeled one all the time. I just see FOX News for what it is... the most shameless right-wing propaganda lie machine. It's pretty bad.

As far as constitution being ripped away, it's pretty messed up, but I pick my battles. When we're talking about torturing people, spying on Americans, going to war for oil and power, or letting the Supreme Court decide a corporation is a person with unlimited free speech money, or the Supreme Court rules who is President... yeah, those are fights to get in there and be angry about.

But when I go to the doctor because I've been sick for 4 weeks unemployed with no insurance... and then that hospital bills me $400 to tell me to "just let it run it's course"... I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon to get that healthcare because the system we have is so messed up, and nobody else is picking up that ball.

Republicans had the ball, they chose war and to tank the economy on their exit.

I will support the Republicans battle to keep guns in the hands of citizens, and if they took up this healthcare issue, I would have championed for them to get it through.

Your a tool if you are happy! I already have Gov. run health care called the VA and guess what, it sucks! Any time I need something done it has to be reviewed buy a panel of money grubbing Gubment accountants who decide whether or not you need it based on age and other things. Have fun with that you got what you asked for.

” If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, and give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses.

And the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they do now, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account; but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains around the necks of our fellow sufferers.

And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for a second, that second for a third, and so on 'til the bulk of the society is reduced to be mere automations of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering. And the forehorse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression.

Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it ? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom ?

Material abundance without character is the path of destruction.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

Yeah thinking people should pay for their own healthcare is messed up, I mean come on how dare they!

Then bunch of people who are using it who are not paying back in to that system how the hell can anyone else get care?

But hey there is that morality that lefists are famous for as long as they get what the want screw everyone else.

Which is exacltly what Obama care is.

And the topic is Obama and the left and Obama care the broken record of Bush is tiresome, nay loathsome.

Because the mass murder, torture, and stripping away of constitutional rights have increased 50 fold Bush was the turtle going slow, where the leftists,Obama are the hares running, running faster off the edge of the cliff of no return.

BLah.

I think this whole tax concern I shrug off like a republican shrugs off torture, war, or the environment.

This is the planet we live on. We are taxed. I pay taxes so they can drop a bomb on a school in Iraq. I say, if I have to pay taxes for all this sh*t, give me healthcare.

Your not alone, there are many of us out there. Remember it was only 3% of the people willing to fight the british a long time ago. It is now a complete and corrupt system and can not support its self for much longer.

The National Park Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, that National Institute of Standards and Technology, the National Weather Service...I could go on.

The federal government is huge and has a very large number of organizations have a whole lot of jobs to keep the country running. If you only hear about the bad you forget about all the good.

The federal government employs 4.4 million people. They're not all failures or bad people.

Just remember.......

The financial penalty for failing to carry insurance possesses "the essential feature of any tax," producing revenue for the government ~ Chief Justice Roberts

The "penalty" is a toothless one in many ways. Consider this:

26 USC § 5000A - Requirement to maintain minimum essential coverage

(a) Requirement to maintain minimum essential coverage An applicable individual shall for each month beginning after 2013 ensure that the individual, and any dependent of the individual who is an applicable individual, is covered under minimum essential coverage for such month.

(Emphasis added)

Who are these applicable individuals? Even more interesting is the "penalty" aspect of this "shared responsibility payment":

(g) Administration and procedure (1) In general The penalty provided by this section shall be paid upon notice and demand by the Secretary, and except as provided in paragraph (2), shall be assessed and collected in the same manner as an assessable penalty under subchapter B of chapter 68. (2) Special rules Notwithstanding any other provision of law— (A) Waiver of criminal penalties In the case of any failure by a taxpayer to timely pay any penalty imposed by this section, such taxpayer shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution or penalty with respect to such failure. (B) Limitations on liens and levies The Secretary shall not— (i) file notice of lien with respect to any property of a taxpayer by reason of any failure to pay the penalty imposed by this section, or (ii) levy on any such property with respect to such failure.

There will be no criminal prosecution - at least at this point - and no liens placed upon property to enforce payment of this "shared responsibility payment".

Why would this be?

We are presented with complexity, and the best solution to any complex problem is to simplify, simplify, simplify.

Who are these "taxpayers" who are "applicable individuals"? What is a "taxpayer"? As we keep simplifying we wind up right at the very beginning of this "tax" issue, and we must begin by asking: What is the subject of this so called "Personal Income Tax"? Is it a direct tax, or an indirect tax? Is the subject of the tax people, property, or activities?

Answer these questions and one gets closer to understanding the simple answers regarding this debacle we call "income" tax.

S&F sonny! Thanks for this great thread.

if you are an American patriot (even a passive one), then why aren't you demanding better ??

I say, if I have to pay taxes for all this sh*t, give me healthcare
if you don't believe you should be paying for "all this sh*t", then stand up and put a stop to it.
we have that power but all tooooo many are prepared to roll over and take it.

Sounds good but I dont have desire to rage against the system like that. If you do, more power to you. My priorities are putting food in my kids mouth, taking care of my family... Personal responsibility stuff.

I'll do what I feel I can to move the world toward a better place... But certain things for now I am not going to sacrifice my family for... Fighting to end all taxes... I see that as a futile effort.

This healthcare thing... Knowing people will be covered who werent before... Knowing insurance companies can't turn someone away for pre existing conditions and that parents can keep someone on their insurance til their 26... That sounds like a pretty good deal and it makes sense to me why the worlds most notoriously greedy Party would be so against it. The party that embraces torture, oil, war, hate, and fear, is against the healthcare mandate. That's good enough for me.

I appreciate your passion though.

Has anyone found the section of the constitution that gives the federal government jurisdiction over individual citizens?

Especially when those citizens are living exclusively within one state?

Because I'm pretty sure that it's not there...

Thanks Obama....for moving the healthcare field forward.

You truly do love being an antagonist huh?..

YOU are of course always welcome any opinion one has in the Sovereign boarders of the u.s. (as we all are)

But I have noticed a specific set of patterns you generate in order to cause detrimental and divisiveness in posts of others..

You attack OutKast, rather then list a series of information to counter the information, or production of others peoples ideas over whatever subject matter this that may be presented..

In this case:

ObeyMeCare

This is about instigating a fascists mentality into a sovereign u.s. system, which is ruled only by the Constitution, not by congress...

Fascism is always married to Socialism, and the two become intertwined in order to control a nation of people..

It is (ObeyMeCare) an "illegal" and unenforceable law, because it was never "made" in the house, AND.. never ratified by all 50 states..

It cannot be enforced, nor can it ever be considered more then a wet dream of a dictator sitting in the seat of POTUS, wither that skin be black, red, white, brown, grey, green , purple, orange, etc...

The seat of POTUS, is owned by We--The--People, not by government, and certainly not by some despot dictator with dreams of becoming another Hitler with thoughts of glory as Stalin entailed...

If one does not want insurance, then one does not have to have it, nor can anyone force another to get it, or pay for another's medical bills...

Thats "Freedom Of Choice"...

We have a whole slew of "nanny state" kids, and young adults now, who think that they deserve something out of life, when in fact you only have the rights afforded to you by the Constitution, to either succeed, or "fail"...

Life is not fair, never has been, never will be, and people are free to "choose" whatever road they feel it right for them, this is the price of Freedom...

And if you trade your Freedoms, for a sense of security, you deserve: Neither!!

Whats really funny to me, is that people are all up in arms about a tax penalty. Did any of them ever stop to think about the coast of a catastrophic illness when you have no insurance? We are talking about being wiped out for life. Try that one on for size. Have a heart attack when you have no insurance, look at that bill, and compare it to the tax penalty a small percentage of people might incur.

we are not discussing "priorities" ... we are discussing every Americans duty as prescribed by the crafters of our Constitution. what greater priority is there than that ??
those willing to sacrifice liberty for security, deserve neither (paraphrased / Franklin)

no one is suggesting an armed rebellion (well i'm not anyway) but how can you possibly turn a blind eye and say "it didn't really matter" to your kids and theirs?

who suggested "fighting to end all taxes" ??
i haven't read that being suggested anywhere and i doubt it would succeed anyway because some taxes are a necessity but not necessarily from the citizenry so to speak.

wow, ending on a partisan comment ... you aren't really in this conversation are ya ?

Hey, if a person chooses to roll the dice with their health than thats their choice, who the hell is the Govt. to pentalize someone for them choosing not to take health care?? Once upon a time ago in this country we had choices, nowadays the govt. wants to make those choices for us...

What's next, is the Govt. going to make each person eat 2 helpings of fruits and veggies a day for their "health" or be fined??
