That's pretty damn messed up right there. He's saying if the Constitution and some piece of legislation were on a sinking boat the priority is to save the legislation and let the Constitution drown.

Yeah, that doesn't even make any damn sense...

ETA: The Romney camp is giving the rally cry that the only way to stop this is to unseat Obama. Obama might have won the battle but he may well be in danger of losing the war. This may just fire up enough people to give Romney the win.

I think that Romney just had his chances of winning the election bumped. There are just too many people who want this thing gone.

I love how everyone is saying that the SCOTUS has gotten it wrong, that they are corrupt, that they need to be kicked out...but if they would have struck it down...these people would have been praising them.

I said all along...let's wait for the SCOTUS decision and that I will respect any decision they make.

It's sad that there are some people that only like our Constitution when it fits them.

So let me get this straight, I will have more taxes taken out to pay for my medical needs and everyone Else's medical needs even if they aren't paying taxes themselves.

I own a small business and pay for INDIVIDUAL insurance...not within a POOL like a large business.

I pay INDIVIDUAL insurance for myself, family and the few folks I employ.

That rate is MUCH HIGHER than a POOL because risks/costs are not spread out.

NOW the whole nation is one big pool...costs go down...that is as simple as I can explaini it.

The health care tax will only benefit the insurance companies that will actually write the policies.

This isn't socialism it's Fascism. Corporate control, not govenment control.

Well, at least his days of blaming Bush are now finally over.
Btw, has anyone checked to see how the stock market is doing?

Synopsis: This Supreme Court ruled in favor of the insurance industry. No surprises here. The "tax" can and will be challenged in court. What this decision has done is revive the entire issue of health care as a hot political topic. The Republicans will now be forced to articulate a reasonable alternative to the plan, without alienating their donors. The entire dynamic of this election has been changed.

This has set a very dangerous precedent. Now with this ruling it seems that the Federal Government can force anyone to buy a product as long as it calls it a TAX.

EXACTLY.
The government wants you to buy into their product and they call it a TAX.
More power to the government. More freedom (and money) taken away from us.

Obama said over and over and over ... this wasn't a tax.
I wonder how he'll spin it now.

I think some of you guys are missing the point. This is a HUGE human rights victory. Giving everyone right to health care is far more important than any petty squabbles we have with the current or past administrations.

They arent giving us anything. They are MAKING us buy something that some of us may not be able to afford.

Well the 9 criminals in black just now made it ok for the government to dictate what type of food you buy (if you dont buy what they say, you will be forced to pay a "tax".

They can also dictate what type of water you can buy, and as technology moves forward, government can force you to buy a certain type of phone (naturally with built in government eavesdropping gear already included) and if you dont, they will penalize you by adding an additional "tax".

Kelo v New London

Citizens United

Wickard v Filburn

and now this......

I sincerely hope the supreme court catches a collective case of painful terminal cancer very soon.

Politicians = Organized crime. The ReBloodicans and the Democrypts indeed.

Reading the dissent.

Powerful!

This should have been the Majority
How about this?
A congressional group approaches Coca-Cola and Pepsico, letting them both know that they plan on passing a law requiring every citizen to purchase a specific cola product, or risk being fined (oops, I mean TAXED). Whichever company ponies up the most money, gets the privilege of being the specified cola product.

What's to stop this from taking place?

I think we have entered a new era of government in the US.

The only people this will effect are poor people...so if your State decides not to follow the law...all they are doing is screwing over low income people in order to play politics.

Which is a real possibility...the "war on poverty" has become a war on the "poor" in most of the conservative ranks.

It is a tax I will never pay. Ever. Period end of discussion. I am not being forced to buy something. I will fight it with all my being. I asked over and over and I will ask again here, what document do those bozos read from? It can't be the constitution unless they have a different one than I do. Those "justices" need to tarred and feathered. TODAY. This cannot stand. It just can't. They do not have the right to tell me what I have to buy. No court can give them that right. No matter what. I'd rather go to jail.

I agree. You can always do as I do, DON'T PAY TAXES.

I don't pay taxes. I don't have any health care or insurance of any kind. No one can force me to pay into these things. IRS taxation is Unconstitutional and illegal. The FED is an illegal entity too. I refuse to use the services and pay ta xes to these illegal institutions that forward an illegal U.S. Government.

How do I do it? I don't make enough to to be required pay taxes - on purpose. I own my own home, a vehicle, computers, big boy toys, have plenty of food on the table, TV, entertainment, host parties ect.. I enjoy everything most people in the US does - on a budget.. just so I can say Hey Government.. Up Yours! But you know what.. I lack for nothing.

I though Obama campaigned with the promsie to not raise taxes for those making less than $250,000? I mean, he broke that promise years ago but not in this big of a way.

First off...he didn't break that promise...he actually lowered taxes. Let's not start with false information in this thread.

And this "tax" is only imposed as a penalty...for most people, they won't pay this tax.

SCOTUS hasn't been about the Constitution for a very long time.

They are about giving government more power, nothing more nothing less.

And the saddest part is they'll fine anybody who can't afford it because you have to pay for the healthcare. That's what makes it the biggest scam in the planet.

And the liberals will always bully people into submission any way they can, erroneously thinking they are the good guys trying to save America.

Frak them.

This pisses me off to no end.

Liberals always try to shove things down people's throat they don't want and can never take no for an answer.

The official language of the SCOTUS was that this is NOT a penalty. (they read the ruling on TV saying that) It's a tax. Obama said it wasn't a tax. The SCOTUS said it definately IS a tax. A tax if you don't buy their product. Which means it really is a penalty tax even if they deny it.

You can't say that 'most people' won't pay this tax. You assume that the healthy younger crowd (under 40) will pony up and buy the gov't insurance rather than pay the lesser TAX that has now been imposed on them. Betchya' you are wrong.

Well enjoy it while you can. They will come after you sooner or later even if they have to make a speical law just for you.
But look on the bight side they may name the new law after you.

Here is an old poem I find fitting here.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Why do I have to respect any decision that they make? Much like Congress and the POTUS, they are a political body. The States should have handle this via nullification and not turned over their power to the black robed ninnies.
