American Muslims Stone Christians in Dearborn, MI

Dear TrueAmerican,

I would not call these people "Christians". Christians are told to preach the word and if nobody wants to hear it, we are told to walk away. I don't see the issue as religion. Someone going to a gay parade with a sign that said, "Death to Faggots" would possibly get the same response. The issue is free speech. If you support arresting Occupy Wall Streeters then you cannot ask for the right to free speech and expect it. If you support arresting or removing people from public venues for their expression of their religious beliefs then you do not deserve the right to express your political beliefs. Beliefs are beliefs.

As for the police, they did not do their job. They did not protect or serve, they did what cops do anymore, they merely sought to prevent problems. A democracy needs problems, we need to speak up when we think things are wrong. You cannot decide which speech is okay to protect and which is not or you eventually use the right to any. It should also be considered that if you go and call someone a name or tell them they are garbage, they just might respond and you should expect and be willing to live with the consequences.

yep we're supposed to tolerate every other ---- person here except whites and christians...

I watched the whole video, I recognized the officer from that reality TV show, not surprised he was unsympathetic.

Regardless, what would be the appropriate thing to do, children screaming obscenities and taught to be violent, or communication and tolerance from both side,

There is a lot of hate, and it is only going to get worse.

Or the violence of some modern day Christian Churches?

Declaring Islam as violent is ridiculous when all the Religions of Abraham are quite capable of having extremely violent sects.

so, are you suggesting that the "christian protesters" should have had a small army of lawyers on retainer before they entered "public property" ??

i understand the difference between "peaceably assemble" and not, however, a pigs head on a stick and signage with inflamatory rhetoric is the name of the game. have you ever protested anything ??

the muslims who attacked, broke every law imaginable with regard to assembly, assault, cooersion, extortion (on some level) and potentially terroristic activities. (openly assaulting Americans exercising their rights)
are a few stones and projectiles really worth the potential hassle ??

what were the OWS participants charged with for returning the tear gas cans hurled at them ??

edit to add: since i cannot view the video and from what you others have indicated, it appears the muslim participants "threw the first punch" perse ... whether bottle, stone, stick, punch, i can't see it, remember.
so, if the above is wrong, please correct me before attacking my position, please?

to me, the difference here would have been ... IF the christian group had arranged to have a bucket of pigs blood dumped atop the muslim participants -- it could justify a violent reaction.
(and assault charges on both sides)
IF the christian group hurled projectiles first, they should have been led out in handcuffs.
IF the christian group had intentionally damaged their festival makeup ... stands, foods, costuming, then the muslim group may have reasonable justification to retaliate.
(am not a fan over materialism but some are)

however, as it is presented, all sides performed poorly and this serves no purpose but to inflame serious misunderstandings on all sides.

I think you need to read back over what I said originally. In the first post you quoted, you seem to have attributed someone elses words to me, as i said nothing more hateful than "quit being so hateful".

In my last post, i think you are missing my sarcasm. My point is, holy texts mention all manner of horrible things. They tell you to violently defend the one true god. They discuss matters of rape, incest, and other sexual deviancy. They show the grittier side of a more primitive man living in a more primitive culture.

What I am seeing is someone railing against Islam. Is it my religion of choice? Nope. But if someone has all these anti-Islam statistics cocked and loaded, ready to pull the trigger, then I suspect that they have an axe to grind. So I am calling the poster that I quoted prior out on their motives.

I always respect your opinion on many issues,

Were the Christians there to stir up trouble, it looks bad, but both sides look bad,

If the Muslims took the high road, it would have been a victory for their side, but cussing children and assault is still wrong.
