What good did these "Christians" think they were going to create by going to a Muslim oriented festival and protest with those signs with ugly words about robbers and thieves.....and burning in a lake of fire........

This is just absurd to do such a thing when people are celebrating and harming no one.

This makes my spirit hurt.

Is that festival not being held on public property? Now, I will admit that this Christian group goes to the Arab American Festival every year to stir-up a violent reaction by Muslims. However, the Muslim attendees are responsible for their own actions. That Christian group is not invading private property, but are attending a public event held on city property. Anybody can attend and say what they want. The Muslim attendees are just going to have to ignore them and settle for it. This is not Baghdad or Cairo, but an American city.

People have freedom of speech. Nothing is stopping the Muslim attendees from protesting at Christian events or counter protesting at the Arab American Festival. The folks who are wrong here are the ones that resort to violent behavior. Throwing blunt objects? I don't care about the obscenities being hurled in their direction. However, I am against throwing things at people that could cause bodily injury. I realize the Christian attendees may be there only to incite a violent reaction. Why do the Muslim people of Dearborn get so upset over this? Just ignore them, and go about their business. They are eating right out of the Christian's hands. I say that, because they go in there expecting a violent confrontation to pull the martyr card. Why give them the satisfaction?
edit on 26-6-2012 by Jakes51 because: I changed "Muslim Festival," to "Arab American Festival," as to not generalize the attendees and to reference it by the proper name.

So that's a bit disturbing to watch. Not welcome in Dearborn huh? I didn't know Muslims owned that town. I guess that shows that any youth can be a complete moron.

Yeah they can and do have freedom of religion but all Americans have the right to disagree with that religion.

I can't believe they didn't retaliate.

Free speech zones are asinine.

just a bunch of trash "muslim" children. The police are too scared to stand up and provide safety because the silly, stupid children would whip into a mob and political correctness dictates the conduct. Simply appalling.

Sure the Christian group shouldn't have been there with inflammatory shirts and signs, but I see some bad little muslims that should be beaten by their worthless parents.

Exactly. They think they are slick. They weren't there to give God the glory or preach the Gospel. They were there to be racist and to try to intimidate the Arabs just like their fathers did to the Blacks and Jews and Hispanics and so on and so forth. It's not working anymore as the video so wonderfully demonstrates.

Watch out, white guilt is full effect. ready for your flames in 3...2...1

Besides, you do realize not all Christians are white and not all Muslims are brown right?

This is a fundamentalist issue not a racial issue. This is Westboro v. Taliban. Except here the Muslims were acting appropriately up to a point and then they retaliated. Now, maybe I could agree with you if this was some political rally and both sides showed up intent on creating problems. Maybe my opinion would be different and I would pray for them both to destroy each other so the rest of us could live more comfortably, but in the OP the Christian group showed up specifically as trouble-makers, so they are in the wrong from the start.

A bloody pigs head was stuck on a pole and waved at the Muslims while Christians screamed at little kids that...
"Youre going to Hell!"..and "Allah is Satan!"

I was there as an EMT and treated no injuries.

Yes but I'm not about to step on someones rights. Just because I can't agree doesn't mean your not allowed because I don't approve. They were at a public gathering demonstrating. Im not a Nazi so there's nothing I would do about it.
I wonder how different and hate full this thread would be by now if Christians did this to a group of Muslims. We both know it would be 26 page atomic flame war.

Looks like a bunch of Christians walk into a predominately Muslim festival

You make it sound so innocent.

It's not like they were using a megaphone to yell provocative things to them, telling them that their religion is wrong and holding signs condemning their religion.

Oh wait...they were.

They went there looking for trouble...and they found it.

And do you want to explain what is with the Obama clip at the beginning....are you trying to claim he is Muslim and supports these actions???

Probly so. But right is right no matter the circumstance. If a group of Muslims showed up to crash a Christian festival, they would deserve to have their asses kicked as well. Idiots just need to leave well enough alone. Why shout your beliefs through megaphones? What is the point of that? Why not just go about your own merry way and let people make their own mistakes instead of trying to "save" them with hatred?

The founder of Islam, Muhammad, was himself a military warlord who spread Islam by the sword (he conquered the Arabian peninsula before he died), so it isn't so surprising that some Muslims choose to follow his example and be violent.

During his life time Muhammad

• Fought 8 major battles,
• Led 18 raids,
• Planned another 38 military operations where others were in command but operating under his orders and strategic direction.

HistoryNet

Major battles were exactly that.

• At Kheibar in 628 C.E., the Muslim army was 2,000 combatants.
• When Muhammad mounted his assault on Mecca (630 C.E.) he did so with 10,000 men.
• And at the Battle of Hunayn a few months later the army numbered 12,000.

Are Muslims aware that Muhammad was a military leader who spread Islam by the sword?

The Koran and the Sahih al-Bukhari Hadith (a holy text to Sunnis who make up about 85% of all Muslims worldwide) make it abundantly clear that Muhammad was a military general who spread Islam by the sword.

The followers of the religion of 'peace' at that rally appear to be following Islam in the spirit of its founder.

People are sick of the hate and intimidation. When you have a history of attacking different groups because they don't look like you, guess what, after a while no one is going to feel sorry for you. especially when all these groups who have been the target of intimidation and racism get together and start comparing their stories. That's a whole lot of folks when you stop and think about it.

We can all see who the real terrorists are.

As a Christian all I can say is I don't practice the same religion as these people.
Provoking others is not the way..... so they got run out of the festival by a mob of 10 year olds.
How humiliating......

They asked for it - they got it, then they have the chutzpah to complain.
"We're being persecuted!"
Uh huh..

That propaganda no longer works anymore. The same tactic in that video is the same that has been used against Hispanics, Natives, Blacks , Jews , . It simply doesn't work anymore.

Not even the freaking corrupt police bought into that stunt.

GAME OVER !

Am I missing something here? Because what I see is a group of Westboro clones going to a street festival in a predominately Muslim area trying to stir up trouble. They aren't there to enjoy the street festival they are there for no reason other than to cause trouble. And once they have got what they wanted cry because the police see through their farce and want to be protected.

Your title is very misleading and the circumstance would be very much different if said "Christians " were getting stoned just for attending the festival. They aren't they are out to instigate a situation so they can play Persecuted Me.

Exactly. I would suspect that these Christians are more of the Fred Phelps variety.

I guess with all the economic woes in Michigan, about all that is left are the poor folks who can't afford to move. In this case it happens to be immigrant Muslims and rednecks.
