This was a raw, unprocessed image taken with my professional SLR (Canon 1D MIII) on my solar telescope. When I changed the camera to another camera, my CCD camera, the artifact disappeared). Should I rather believe that my professional SLR picked up something that my astronomical (unfiltered, no mirrors, etc) CCD camera didn't pick up, or is it maybe an image reflected from the IR-filter in front on the sensor, to the backside of the mirror and back into the sensor in my SLR?

Heck, AND the color of the sun is all wrong.... OMG the sun is heating up, it will go Supernova!!!!

The point is, learn your equipment, and learn how to notice if something strange is an artifact of your setup... Don't rely on some Youtube video and jump to conclusions.

not everything can be contributed to lens-flare or lens-issues. There are more to it, like internal reflections in the optical path, etc, etc, etc ...... In this instance, it wasn't an issue with flare or lens-issues, but rather internal reflections inside the camera (which was never designed to take these kind of pictures), the same as that your average cell-phone cameras/video camera was never designed to take photo's/videos of the unfiltered sun.

you don't need a red-filter, you need something like a Baader-filter.

Tough stuff. Taking on in some frames of "second sun", while it's entering behind the clouds, the impression I had is that is a solid object. If you pay attention you can see less denser clouds passing in front of it:

Though moving ahead in the frames, the object seems to be in front of the clouds, but so it's the sun:







Honestly I don't have any conclusive opinion whether this is a reflection, a sun-dog or a celestial object. Anyway it looks almost impossible that an object that big is not noticed all over the planet. Surely people are numb, more worried about texting their phones while walking in the streets, but come on... That's frigging huge and it's not the super moon. At least the uploading date of the videos is almost one week after the moons perigee, but it doesn't mean that the guy who recorded it isn't playing the smart*ss.

I won't jump to any conclusions, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how a "internal-refraction-of-the-sun-in-polarized-lens", as some people are alleging here, can possibly move behind the clouds.

What is seen is clouds passing across the face of the Sun, seen in the reflection of the Sun. Here is the same effect seen during a partial eclipse. Instead of clouds, it's the Moon. It can't be seen in the "real" Sun because it is too bright, the reflection is dimmer so the CCD is not oversaturated.

This photo was taking during the partial phase of the eclipse. The green image of the sun is due to an internal reflection of the real sun in the camera.

It looks that way because the backlit cloud is brighter than the reflection and the sensor is "maxed" out. That is why it becomes visible (against the cloud) when the the cloud moves away from the Sun and is no longer backlit.
