I prefer the Seal Team Six solution to kill or capture terrorist. Much simpler and cheaper.

Yes they are capable of doing it again, having done it once is proof of that. They are certainly LESS capable of doing it again because now we are vigilant and must remain so.

Even conviction doesn't mean it's been proven, sir. It merely means that the judge/jury was convinced.

I'm going to throw a curve ball at you. Ready? Okay. For a terrorist maybe, just maybe, justice IS revenge. I'm not going to speculate about putting them in regular crowded jails and the stuff happening there being additional revenge I'm just going to say that when dealing with extremists you can surprisingly annoy them by remaining calm because they feed off anger and frustration.

Sorry for being on topic but it has to be said:

The US has admitted it faked the gulf of Tonkin incident
guess if they did it once they could do it again.

actually its beginning to look like they have faked every excuse for war they have ever had...

Yeah, the US sure framed that King George of England real good. Be careful when speaking in absolutes.

Oh, okay, you're right. A headline really proves it. Some "Josef Ahmed" might try to car-bomb the White House in the name of al Qaeda. We should just kill him, and then bomb his family and associates at the funeral. Sounds about right...

Yet the Americans sought vengeance for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

To be fair, the Nazis were asking for it. Some have speculated that a few American commanders knew but let the event happen under the pretense that it would justify war with the Germans. Very different circumstances from now where the United States is already at war and the ball is in their metaphorical court.

I was merely sarcastically conceding your justifications of the wars and drone strikes in a more articulate manner than your inferences.

And you really think that will work when it comes to religious extremists who believe that they are going to paradise? The more you kill the holier they believe their fight is. They do not think like most of us do at all.

I think they should be studied to find out how they were indoctrinated and when we have all the needed info executed like anyone else. Don't make a huge deal out of it like most people want, that's exactly what the terrorists want.

Also people suggesting that they have a contest and you can win the chance to pull the trigger. That is really disgusting, uncivilised and sick. The moment you derive pleasure out of killing is when you loose any moral high ground, In war soldiers may get pleasure from killing yes, but that is a much different situation. To suggest this when they have gone through the legal system like anyone else would and for a state sanctioned execution like this is really sick. Even if someone killed my family I would not get pleasure from killing them, no matter how much I wanted to do it it would not be for my own sick pleasure! Personally I think anyone who enjoys killing someone else in this manor is disgusting and should be looked at as a danger to all civilised people. even if they deserve to die and have committed terrible, horrific acts you should not get pleasure like this. If you do then you are no better than the people who you are calling sick yourself. In fact you are almost on the same level, only killing for what you perceive as a different reason. I they have been brought up to believe these crazy things and do this as well they might not even be capable of rational thinking which would makes you just as bad as them in that you are deriving pleasure from a terrible act.

Well, to lay it out as I've gathered from our conversation...

1) Everybody that claims al Qaeda or Taliban or other unspecified known terrorist organization is a substantial threat to rights of United States citizens.
2) The hijackers who died in the crashes of 9/11 are capable of coming back to life to perpetrate more terrorism.
3) If a handicapped vegetable proclaimed the intent of murdering you, your wife, or your children, you'd murder them in cold-blooded, preemptive "defense"

I could go on?

good ol dead Navy seals..
guess there's some pensions the US government won't have to pay

I'm sure it was a pirate that said "Dead Men tell no tales"
and you can always depend on pirates for justice.

At the danger of going off topic, the USA didn't declare war on Germany after Pearl harbor.

Germany declared war on the USA 4 days after Pearl Harbor in response to the USA declaring war on Japan.

11th December 1941

Germany and Italy have announced they are at war with the United States. America immediately responded by declaring war on the two Axis powers.

BBC

Strangely, nowadays some people would claim that the USA declaring war on Japan in response to Pearl Harbor was a self destructive act. Go figure.
