If we weren't meant to eat meat then we would not have canine teeth. Humans by nature are omnivores.

Look at who lobbies for food stamps, place like Wal-Mart. Pepsi and Coca-cola have a vested interested too and their lobbyist will ensure that soft drinks will continue to be purchase with food stamps.

I am all for food stamps going to those who need them. The statistics don't lie, we as a nation are becoming more dependent on government assistance. If left unchecked it will get to the point where a welfare nation will not be sustainable because there will be too many people getting welfare and not enough paying taxes to keep welfare funded.

Bu imagine an America where everyone is on food stamps. Everyone gets a government check. Then it'd ALL be government and we wouldn'thave to worry about who pays. Becase we all would/ and receive at the same time.

Why dont we just make it a national holiday(twice a year) for the entire country to go out and hunt for their own food.

Whatever the state provides in the wilderness, is up for grabs. But those caught offing animals without eating them will be put to the gaunlet.

=)

Just trying to solve the food problem.(evil laugh).

You mean forage, right? Science has proven that too much protein causes your kidneys to shut down. We shouldn't kill animals for food, anyway. Just because they're a lower life form doesn't give us the right to snuff out their lives.

And there's the added danger of your gun accidentally going off and harming one of your hunting partners. Best just stick with veggies and fruit.

/TOA

Yes I meant forage, but I didnt really mean what I said. More sarcasm than anything =)
I dont want to kill all the animals.

Just the ones that go MOO and BERKAWWW!!!.

=)

Is that too much to ask?

Yeah.. actually it is.

I'm a rare breed.. I'm a Conservative vegetarian.
(we do exist!)

I'd love to see the Government spending millions building up urban farms, community farm operations etc.. I'd love to see inner city students take 1 class a day where they work outside or in greenhouses learning about growing and harvesting plants (that would then be used in school foods and extras taken home to eat)

What I can't stand is free money in the mail to go to the store to spend it on doritos and frozen pizzas. Then use cash to buy beer and cigarets. It's inexcusable to me.. it's an insult to folks who work hard to provide for their families.

No one thus far has addressed my first question: Is the government using this as a ploy to get more Americans on food stamps, ulimately creating more control over it's masses:puz

In my humble. . . .

yes.

Government doesn't self-limit. Government exists to create a niche for itself. Ever hear of "temporary" government programmes?

Guess what.

They still exist.

Community service should be a requirement for government assistance.

Why's that? Paying taxes isn't enough? You know the way they get the $$ for those programs comes from the taxes collected, paid for by the same people who then at some point in time depend on the food stamps etc. Granted there are a lot of people that are generational welfare leeches that have never worked a day in their life and they should be delt with. But please don't generalize and group everyone together. More people than you think were hard working tax paying citizens that are now dependent on this assistance.
It should be setup like Social Security (Yes I can't believe I am saying this lol) you should have to have X amount of work credits before you can claim else all you get is the bare minimum.

Yep, however what worries me, is the never ending dumbing down of Americans. Is the new social norm, to not achieve your dream, and pull a 20 hour work week to keep the food coming in so that the family is eating healthier

I've got no issues with people that actually need the help.

At one point I had to give up the net for a few months for food, grudgingly did.

I have used these services before, but its always when my savings are shriveled up and in between jobs. (after I became an adult)

I live minimally, I am retired and I put as little into the economy as I must.
I grow food and produce electricity, let the Gumment give all of the money away that they want.
It will eventually collapse or it wont.
All I know is I contribute as little as I have to legally, I did my part.
Eventually if it does not get better, the peasants will revolt.
Then you will have a french style revolution and the guillotine will make the gutters again run in red.
The Gumment does have some incentive to make this whole thing work.
I just think they have "whoops, I gave my buddy too much cash", one too many times and now the belt, or noose is tightening.
We will find a way or we won't, I'll watch from my porch.

I used to think alot like you, back in 2008. However, I now feel that nothing will happen, as this generation is to preoccupied with their technologies. Thus, the reason you can watch each and every year in America, the morals, values, and judgements of individuals dwindle.

Which, goes back to my question: Is working a 20 work week, living on the system going to be the new social norm, as everyone is waiting for a hero to save the day

Not holding my breath here. Just observing the next step of Marxism, and waiting for America to turn from a socialist country to Communist

You may just be right, but a logical thinking person knows that this path is a road to destruction.
Some will scream for a change and some will not, this will make war inevitable.
I know quite a few people that would live under nothing but this current constitution, so marxism is a nogo.
This situation will pass one way or another, but those who steered the ship will be amoong the first to go under the blade if we do sink.

(Edit)
And yes, people will do all of the work they can just to keep their home afloat.
More and more will fail and we know what will happen then.
I urge all to start a garden and get chickens if you can.
Both are tax free and just might save your life.
My garden in a small spot will probably feed 20 people for quite awhile and it was free, it would be a little more if you have starting costs but, hey, free is free.
Plus I can make friends.

Thanks, my question to you is: What have you seen normal, or making any kind of sense in the last 5 years or so

My fear is Americans will take foodstamp assistance, and any other crumbs they can lay their hands on, all the while their Constitution is being desecrated

Thanks for the comments

Good call, I think that's exactly what they're trying to do. It would be one step closer, if we didn't see it for what it is.. I remember reading an article where in India they started chipping citizens with RFID chips. They received their benefits like that. They just scanned away totally dependent, with a gov chip in them.. I would put the article up but I can't seem to find it anymore..

Yep, I see the book "1984" and the scope of issues all around me every single day, what was once right, is now wrong. What was once black, is now white.
Thanks for your response

I could agree with a program like this.

I did'nt say my idea was the only thing that would or could work.

We need solutions to the problem, not more finger pointing.

I did have a big reply typed up to your post. I erased most of it becuase it really does not matter.

People will always think that they are better than someone else and the circle of sh(crap) will never change.

Community service for assistance does not sound like a bad idea to me.....If it does to you ,then maybe you are one of the leeches you speak of. There are always people that are unable to work, there is something useful that they can do to make our community a better place to live.

Paying taxes has nothing to do with helping the communtiy out in this sense.

Or we could just give everybody pistols and it will work itself out in the longrun

It will never end.......

I know people that work 2 jobs at 55-75 hours a week and are on food stamps. You'd probably be surprised at the requirements to be eligible for government assistance. I guess the justification is that they pay taxes and are eligible so why not use it? Im not saying its right or wrong but the idea that everyone using the programs are "junkies" or too lazy to work is incorrect.

Personally, I think they're probably trying to air that so that people get on them. Believe it or not, even those lazy, good for nothing poor people spending that money affects the economy. It's a cheap and easy way for the government to try to curb the poverty rates and provide any prop for the economy they can.

We take EBT cards in the health food store i work in, I cant even afford those meats with my discount. So I wouldnt think they are controlling what we eat, if we cut out foreign aid then we could all eat for free which isnt a bad idea.
