My mom burst into tears when they gave her food stamps when I was a kid.
She had a surgery that was messed up and was out of work for about a year, we lived on savings and Pa's income.
Without her permission a social worker at the hospital filled out and sent in the forms to get her food stamps.
She begged her to undo it and she wouldn't.
She went down to the welfare office and begged them to take them back and they wouldn't.
They said they would take me away if she gave them back, or didn't use them.
To her food stamps were insulting.
Is there a time and place where some might need help yes, but we need to end the cycle of entitlement.
There used to be some sense of embarrassment in using food stamps or welfare and people wanted to get off them as soon as possible.
Now people look for loopholes to stay on the Dole.
Hell the CEO of IBM offered this administration hardware and software to track and crack down on entitlement fraud and they said no.
Welfare is buying votes these days plain and simple.
