Why would anyone WANT to pay for someone else's birth control? I don't! and that is the issue here, she wants public health care AKA obamacare to pay for HER promiscuity.

Rush should have chosen his words more carefully. You can insult some one without going over the top. Such as , "This woman seems to be having so much sex with other men that she cannot , for some reason , afford her own contraception pills that the government should have no business knowing. She has told the world without shame or doubt that she sleeps with men in what traditional America would be absoloutely appalled of knowing and would want nothing to do with her."

Women , i am tired of hearing about your problems and babies. Get your butt up , go to the store and buy the pills needed or a condom. I will not buy you contraception pills for something i see as filth (having sex outside of marriage). It is filth to me and i will not support it. Do i look down on YOU as a human being ? No. Do i look what you are doing in disgust? Yes , and i would voice it to if i knew you.

Have some kind of respect for your body and your self-image.

For some reason ... abortion isn't any of our business and a woman has her "privacy". I like how it is the government's business to make employers buy contraception so women can go against moral and values. If you want to go against traditional moral and values then thats your business. It aint my business.

If your contraception is my business then your killing of a defenceless human being is my business too.

Dont want to have a baby? Then stop having sex.

----

Id be willing (if i was an employer) to buy you contraception if it made abortion illegal. Me purchasing contraception , though not 100% effective but a majority of the time 99% effective, should give you a good reason not to get pregnant. Make abortion 100% illegal , i would buy you contraception pills.

Bravo Obama...good for you. Maybe some conservatives can take some notes on how to make a statement on the issue while staying above the pettiness.

And this is the difference between liberals and conservatives.

Liberal view on women using contraception: It is their right to be able to plan their future with contraception, it is a medical issue and thus should be covered under health insurance.

Conservative view on women using contraception: They are whores and sluts who should keep their legs closed.

The same type of thinking goes for homosexuals, the poor, and immigrants.

Liberals on homosexuals: They are people too, government shouldn't rule who you should love. Their HUMAN rights should be protected.
Conservatives on homosexuals: Screw em, They are disgusting perverts and should be shamed into conforming to MY views.

Liberals on the poor: We should help people who have fallen on hard times.
Conservatives on the poor: Screw em, they are lazy idiots that just want to leech off of us.

Liberals on immigrants: We should be accepting to people who want to come here and make a better life for themselves, we should make it easier on them to come here legally.
Conservative on immigrants: Screw em...they look different, speak different, and act different than "true" Americans...we got here first...they can go back to where they came from.

I really think people who have voted Republican for decades may finally be waking up to the fact that they have been decieved to vote against their own, and fellow countrymens, interests.

Great observation, you really hit the nail on the head.

And "petty" is the perfect word for how a lot of conservatives answer to where they stand on certain issues.

It's a nasty attitude, and a ignorant view on humanity.

That's just absurd.

Liberal view: Break the First Amendment law and force churches to go against their faith. Force your moral point of view on others all the while complaining that's what conservatives do when they pray to end abortion.

Conservative view: Follow the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You don't have a right to tell people of faith how to run their churches or their church outreaches.

Rush Limbaugh isn't a 'conservative' .. he's just a nutter.
He's in the same category as Keith Olbermann.
Two extremists with big mouths who want a lot of attention.

BTW ... free birth control isn't a 'right'. Birth control is a commodity.

But the government isn't really buying anything. It's the taxpayers that will be buying it.

The question is whether there are certain personal items that people should be buying for themselves instead of expecting the public at large to be buying it for them. Health coverage is intended to compensate for treatment of illness, not to compensate for safety equipment or drugs used for daily recreational activities.

But you see, that's exactly what BC does. It treats women who are otherwise ill in a way. Without my birth control, my hormones get out of whack and I sometimes don't have a menstrual cycle for months. My best friend, a virgin mind you, uses it for the same reason, and also to help with her endometriosis. Taking birth control is not JUST a "safety equipment or daily recreational drug".

It's not being thrown onto the tax payers. The misinformation campaign is working I see. Telling insurance companies that they have to cover contraception has NOTHING to do with the tax payers.

Yes it is being forced onto the taxpayers. It isn't free and will just put the taxpayers premium higher. and from page 1, who is being denied birth control and how? Rubbers are cheap, abstinence is free. If the parents can afford to pay for Georgetown, they can pay for her pills.

Again, taking birth control isn't just about not getting pregnant. It's about having hormones regulated and various other medical problems. Without my birth control, I sometimes will go months without my period. Without my friends birth control, a VIRGIN, she would bleed more than she wouldn't each month, and her endometriosis would start up again.

Why are liberals always so hateful? I just don't get it. Mind you I am Independent, but it just seems to me that first, the assessment here of liberal vs conservative view is just wrong, and second, why lie about how conservatism actually works? I'll just give you one example of how your statements are wrong, I could provide answers to all of them but who would really pay attention?

Liberals on the poor: We should help people who have fallen on hard times. Conservatives on the poor: Screw em, they are lazy idiots that just want to leech off of us.

It is a fact that Conservatives give more to charitable causes than Liberals. It never ceases to amaze me why each side attacks each other like this.

I would suggest that the both of you check your FACTS before making false statements against a political party. It's childish, really.

That's not accurate. We don't want to support birth control with our own money. Having sex is not a medical emergency.

But having a hormone regulator should be.

I've said this at least four times now, but since most of you seem to have completely missed my posts I'll say it again. Without my birth control, I will sometimes go months without a period. Without my friends birth control, she's a VIRGIN, she will bleed more than she won't in a month, and her endometriosis will flare up.

Being on birth control does NOT equal having sex.

ETA: Besides, insurance companies seem to think it's important to support coverage for Viagra, so why not something like Birth Control that actually /helps/ with medical issues other than just to give you a boner?

I don't care if I'm banned from ATS for saying "Rush Limbaugh can distill in his own swinish filth and it would just create yet another toxin the rest of us will have to disperse in a way that won't contaminate the Human Race. The far right republican are simply crazy. They want to control every aspect of your life. They hate minorities. They hate woman. They hate religions other than Christianity. And they hate other sexual orientations. They want to live in a world that's black and white, well white and white, where there are no degree of difference. Everyone must be exactly and robotically the same. But it's all a sham - how can i tell? Because Viagra is also covered but we haven't heard one peep from faux outraged males. and if you're going to insure viagra for all these losers that can't get erections then you better insure birth control.

Because if you wont, poor people will have more unwanted children -> more criminality and social system strain -> more taxes needed for police and social system funding, or decreased quality of life. So you will pay whether you want it or not.

I am against extensive welfare prone to abuse, but ONE thing which welfare should include IMHO is free birth control and abortion. Its not an expense, but an INVESTMENT. When you are poor and/or irresponsible, you should not have children.

Call me eugenicist, but this is simply reality. Free birth control and abortion for the poor will ultimately increase quality of life for all, as well as lower welfare and police expenses.

You must be new here, conservatives are against ANY elective medical procedure paid for by our tax dollars. That certainly includes Viagra.

While I don't agree with the manner in which he said it, I don't think contraception should be something thrown on the taxpayers. Why should I have to pay for it. I have been married for 10 yrs and we didn't have a kids until we were 5 yrs into it. We used condoms. We never used birth control, but even if we did, why the hell should I expect someone else to pay for it. I don't see birth control as health care. I see it as pregnancy prevention, not health care.
I guess you've never known anyone with cystic ovaries.

I see government as responsible for providing necessities. I see birth control as a necessity. We'd do well to watch our number.

Poor people have been having children since Adam and Eve. Theft and crime are problems of moral decline, not how much someone makes for a living. Rich people commit terrible crimes too, Bernie Madoff anyone?

Rush is a loud mouth punk who abased all that do not agree with him . This woman should sue him for defamation of character , we must have a lawyer that will take this case pro bono to help this woman out , it also has a lot of merit and could make him a good dollar.

It's not about being poor in money that develops a person it is moral character and parenting , both of these are in short supply today . Parents have their hands tied by big brother on how they raise a difficult child they are forced to spare the rod which entitles the child .

People who are supporting contraceptive mandates on health insurance are ridiculous. Health insurance mandates that go beyond emergency, necessary, or life threatening health care are some of the reasons we have out of control health care coverage costs.

What is the difference in a mandate to cover contraception and liposuction, cosmetic surgery, lasic eye surgery, lap-bands, or gastric bypass?

Another proper analogy would be that of car insurance. Imagine how much your car insurance costs would increase if it was mandated to cover flat tires, car battery, transmission failure, or any other mechanical failure.

We have agencies like insurance, social security, medicaid, and medicare that have moved from emergency institutions used to protect someone against catastrophe towards acting as agencies that provide comfort and we wonder why we and our nation are going broke?

Where do you think the costs for these mandates go? Do they fall on the rich company executive? Do they fall on those on wall street or making millions / billions? Do they fall upon the company profits? NO, the cost will fall on the poor and middle class as health care coverage costs increase, people will lose jobs and have lower wages.

Comfort should never be a cost that is passed onto other people. I can understand emergency care and life-shattering situations, but there is no reason that the cost of comfort should go to anyone else but oneself.

I know this, Masalo implied that poverty determines morality. I strongly disagree.
