I've noticed it before, but I was wondering why the "4 hour time limit" is never 4 hours. It fluctuates. Sometimes it cuts off in an hour, sometimes 2, but always well before the 4 hour mark.

Is there a way this can be fixed?
Why is there a time limit for editing anyway?

I searched this but the topics I looked at weren't addressed by an admin or mod so it'd be cool to get an answer.

Thanks.

"4 hours" is a misleading message.
If you edit your post soon after posting, you will see a "time left to edit" message above the edit box, and this appears to count down from 120 minutes. Which is two hours, normally.
Evidently somebody was working on 30-minute hours.

I know I've went back several times to edit a post, sometimes less than an hour it seems and I was not able to edit it. It is annoying, but I guess it makes me try harder to spell check or check it for errors several times before I post it.

How much do you want bet I made an error of some kind in this post? lol

4 hours and counting........

I've never even noticed that...thanks for pointing it out

yes it's very misleading. I don't understand why this remains unresolved.

My posts have had the editing time cut off around 45 minutes before. Not even at the full 120 minutes that appears to be allowed

Because if there was no limit people could (and have) made all sorts of statements... cause a stir, then go back and edit and say "I never said that"

Choose your words wisely and activate the auto spell checker option in your browser... seems simple enough. Then proof read it before your post. That is why there is a "PREVIEW" button

Fair enough. But can't they still do that if it's within the time period anyway? Perhaps then, editing should be removed completely?

The whole time limit isn't really an issue I guess. More just a thought I had while I was typing. But still the "4 hour" thing should be fixed.

It's an issue with time zones from what I've been explained/told...

On going issue, if you do need something edited, you can file an alert or send any mod a PM and we are usually very happy with assisting.

As for the time limit being there, it's so people can't go back and change their opinions when it suits them.

This place is fast, busy and lots of members like to play their positions loose, so it's good to have a record to reflect on.

Especially with the ammount of hoaxes my hit and run members etc..

Ah...time zones. Didn't think about that.
Is there a way this could ever be fixed or will it remain?

Thanks for answering.
Peace
