Science here tries to explain 'Strange Sounds' etc. Interesting details, show a given Triangular shape whose 3 corners offer further reasoning ref; Earthquakes. A few years back they suggested the Australin plate had slightly changed direction. Worth a view of the aboe to see how APANETA reference to the planets core, does point toward N.E.Australia.

I only just felt it, gentle wobbling. Was like the Darfield 7.1 in 2010, if you had been laying down you wouldn't have felt it, had just got up and sat down with a coffee and when it happened. I did exactly what I did on Sept 3 2010, looked down towards the floor thinking the cat was rubbing against my chair

WTF is with USGS?, they still haven't listed the 5.7 yet, or this one.
Lucky we have our own Geological Service, otherwise you'd never have known.

I didn't watch the Vid, but the Australian Plate HAS been a bit angry the last few days
prior to the Vanuatu there were a couple of 5's and 4's S of New Britain, PNG
then the Vanuatu 7.1 and aftershocks
and then Tasman Sea/Cape Farewell, NZ 5.7 and 5.0
ALL on the edges of the AP.

I'm not sure if its just carelessness or laziness or they are doing it on purpose

Firstly there was a quake as Geonet indicated this morning, you can see it on SNZO.IU.10.BH1

Secondly I wonder if they actually look at their own seismographs they are putting out to the public?
I have been following the Vanuatu aftershocks on LISS SNZO, they are showing up quite well considering the distance.

When I came across the 5.4, 5.7, this morning I looked at the graph and thought "that can't be right", the first one is bigger. So I checked GFZ and sure enough it was 5.7, 5.4
USGS got it ass backwards!

I was using USGS up till then but switched to GFZ for those 2, its obvious to anyone with eyes that are open that the first one was bigger

BTW the number after LR= is the arrival time at SNZO, not the time of the quake.
LR is the S wave, no idea why its called the LR, might be Long Range (shrugs shoulders)

Could it stand for Love-Rayleigh waves (surface waves)? That's the only thing that came to mind.

any idea what LQ stands for
that comes up on the travel time results just before LR waves, usually by a minute or so.

I've had use use LR waves a lot in analyzing LISS graphs, the P waves are hard to see.

Conservatives argue for smaller goverment. Their main complaint is there is too much regulation. Considering the annual budget of the US Government, this must mean it is a immense, powerful, beuracratic beast. So, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission must be a fierce and strict enforcer of codes. Did regulators give the public four years to think about the issue before they change the laws? No. Four years. And that's just the reporting. Well, that's better than their fire safety compliance issues. It's been thirty years and they're almost up to date. Obviously the Regulators are too powerful. The poor corporations can't keep up with all the demands placed on them by the goverment. Goverment=you.

Kids will be told to get under their desks. In buildings not built to the same codes as California. The Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995 caused a building to collapse. The blast only took out a few columns at most. If the building had been up to the codes for California, it would not have destroyed.

Looking in google earth, one can find several of whsat look to be possible frack pads. Of coutrse this is all ld oil drilling country too, so many of those could be old oil rigs, but you can see condensate tanks at many of the lotations

Did you see this? I saw it the other day & thought, Phhhht!!!
But with all that's been going on, maybe it would be interesting to keep an eye on it & see!
Most of those places are pretty common, the clincher would be if they all hit in that small of a time frame!!!
I thought: Whoa, Spain. Hmmm, Vanuatu. Not a direct hit, but they said NZ / NG 'region', not giving them that one. Not feeling generous! But then Vancouver just popped up!!! Oh, oh!!!
