What will be interesting to see here... is if they make it illegal to upload images and footage of LEO's breaking the law? or congressman for that matter?

I am pretty sure that the US is pissed off with all this footage of their officers acting like complete tools.

I am looking for any day now for some law that will make everything about 9/11 that is other than the official story to just to disappear from the net. They would have gotten away with 9/11 free and clear if the Internet had not been around. Not just 9/11 but a whole list of other things as well would have went by with little if any notice. Our government sees the public access to the Internet as being the biggest mistake every made and now they are trying to take it it back and they are doing just that bit by bit. I see a day coming when only the police and government can even log on to the Internet. It will go back to the old days like when it first started. First thing you will see is fewer and fewer home users until there is no longer any private home Internet accounts. You will have to have a business license to to have an Internet account and in time even that will go away as the price raises beyond reach which I think will happen fast as the number of users drop..Then it will be only for government use. This will not happen over night but as your children years from now tell their children about the old days they will try to explain what the Internet was long age. So every one enjoy the Internet while it last for you have seen the its birth and you will most likely be around to seen its death as well.

Hope you don't get a warning for that. But you made a great point, it is one thing to obey T&C due to understandings and being civil and also because ATS wants to maintain a reputation of having civilized and respectful topics. But it is another to be criminalized for violating a T&C on any website. To criminalize this is ridiculous and a violation of freedom of speech and information.

If people don't rise up soon, the only thing we have as a defense against the corporate elite is our nets and it will soon fade away.

So time to start looking for an overseas vps with a company that isn't going to comply with anything paid for with prepaid cards.

i oppose this law. i would have already been charge multiple times with a crime right here on ats alone. not to mention multiple charges from hotmail and every website that asks every piece of personal information possible, from your pet dogs name and what you had for breakfast to set up an account and post.

not to mention all the legal fees and p.i.'s i would need to hire to put on a solid legal defence, including tracking down, subpoena and proving in a court of law that the person i called an idiot on some website is indeed an idiot.

Ok. so what if another company opens up in another country, they get a contract with youtube to mirror their site. Nothing will be able to stop you viewing this site, unless the US blocks them all.

Wth? Uploading copyrighted material, violent material, porn etc. already is against the laws. Why would they need to make a new law for it? Also making T&C violations against the law in US every site such as ATS would have a ton of possible law suits in their hands

This sounds pretty ridiculous.

In a case where someone did break a websites terms of service, it's the website's responsibility and decision as to whether or not any legal action is necessary.

Sounds to me, like the only goal for our government at this point is to throw all of us in jail.

I can already see it:

"What are you in for?"
Murder.

"I said I wasn't fat."

I think we forget that the sites THEMSELVES can get sued by the owners of whats put up. No matter how innocent it is... the owners can and often do, come down on YouTube for putting their intellectually created and liscensed properties. This scares the hell out of the big sites.

Not so much for us all uploading 'STAR TREK" epsiodes or anything else...but by the owners of that material who come down on YouTube and such sites for allowing it to be reproduced freely and without knowledge or agreement.

Im done.

The government will portray this about music,copy right infringement...etc, but wil;l give them the power to halt anything that shows our government in a negative light. Like the video of the soldiers killing innocent Afghans civilians.

It's called a disclaimer. All sites that allow 'user-generated' content have these disclaimers.

This issue only comes up when a big site can't manage it's own content. It's their problem, not ours.

Will they prosecute those agents posing as teen boys and girls on internet sites to entrap people?

Yeah, didn't think so.

I'm sure it will be fine for the feds to do it but not the average citizen.

Just like filming. They can film us but it is a federal offense in some states to film them.

Of course it will never pass. I mean, you realize how easy it is for 200 Anons to generate 20,000+ fake profiles of whatever stereotype they wish to overrun and essentially destroy any sort of attempt to regulate it? In a matter of weeks there would be an extra billion people on the Earth thanks to anon. All of them essentially the same 200 people or so. Perhaps they will all be George Bush or Obama. Who knows.

Point is, you cannot regulate the internet. You will simply fail.

Well, i'll just move all my stuff to a new site if this gets the go -ahead... why should we put all our details online?

I am a member of fb but only use it for pro use really... don't have my personal contact info on there or my date of birth but i still don't like this breaking of my privacy!! I keep certain things private coz i don't want my ID stolen!!

Obviously the FEDS havn't thought much about OUR security online!!

I am on the fence on this. On one hand, I understand the privacy violations. On the other, if a slanderous video of me or someone I loved was uploaded and sent viral without my permission, I would take great issue with that.
