My Daughter and son-in-law just moved to Maryland yesterday from Berkeley Ca. I'm glad!

Hope this second one was an aftershock.

Okay, now this is weird. About 20 minutes ago, both of my cats, who were sleeping on different chairs, both woke up suddenly, and started tearing around the house.

The weirdest part is, I live in So-Cal, not anywhere near SF! I find it hard to believe they could have sensed something that far away, yet they appear to have reacted at the same time as your quake.
Maybe I should be on the alert still.

PS..I love your MST3K banner!

That's so funny that your cats reacted from so far away while my wonder dog snoozed through it. I never said he was the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

for recognizing the MST3K banner. Tom Servo -- my hero.

HAHA, yeah I gave up on the Jack Russell long ago. He would probably snooze through a tornado, but lose his mind barking at a bird on the porch rail.. My cats, though, are usually pretty good indicators!

Lived there for a real long time - in the city, then Oakland, then Marin county.
In the city our apartment was this crappy add-on, built in the landlord's courtyard.
It was the most rickety building I've ever been in. A quake in that place felt like armageddon.

That was one hell of a jolt. Short and sharp, in 12 years I've never felt one like that, scary...And it wasn't even that big, 3.9 is nothing.

Yeah lol scarey when they happen, people come out of their apartments into the hallway, make comments, go back in, 10 minutes later all is back to normal.

Well one has to doesn't one, otherwise we'd go nuts lol.

I haven't really experienced one like this before. I was in class and out of nowhere, my desk and the ceiling and walls started to shake back and forth very rapidly. It looked like stuff swaying, but in very quick, rapid successions. The weirdest part was that at the beginning of class, I was thinking to myself "If an earthquake hit right now, what would I do? Would I pick up just my computer and run, leave everything and run, or grab everything (backpack, etc) and run". And then 45 mins later, it hit. It was over as quickly as it started, but it was enough to get me to jump out of my seat though.

Technically I live in El Cerrito, but to most people, I just say Berkeley because the dividing line from my house is like a mile away and a lot more people know berkeley than el cerrito.
I'd be surprised if we are the only ones though, with how diverse berkeley is

Is it normal for such a relative weak quake that there are helis ?

Are they Military or News Helis ?

Think it's a news chopper. Been trying to check all the local news sites to see if they have raw video or something
