The magnitude is yet undetermined, but we just had a quake in downtown SF that literally rolled my floor.

Anyone else in the Bay Area rocking and rolling?

Thanks, Veritas. 4.2 doesn't sound like all that big a deal but this one was intense. Short, but dramatic -- not unlike myself.

Yes, indeed. That's enough, Mother Nature. Chill out.

I always wonder if people feel these quakes while they're driving over the Bay Bridge and think of how scary that would be.

Okay, now this is weird. About 20 minutes ago, both of my cats, who were sleeping on different chairs, both woke up suddenly, and started tearing around the house. The tuxedo cat started howling and yowling and making circles while looking up towards the ceiling. The gray one is still hiding under my bed. The tuxedo has her fur up still. I waited for about 10 minutes, expecting an earthquake because this is actually a typical pre-quake behavior for them.

The weirdest part is, I live in So-Cal, not anywhere near SF! I find it hard to believe they could have sensed something that far away, yet they appear to have reacted at the same time as your quake.
Maybe I should be on the alert still.

PS..I love your MST3K banner!

Wondering that myself. I haven't seen a lot of activity down that way lately other than a few minor shakes. Hopefully not though.

Didn't feel it down here in So Cal at all, be careful if you live in the area where they built the city over landfills, when you said the floor was rolling, that was the first thing I thought of.

BTW - Today is the Great California Shakeout drill, maybe they used HAARP to make it more realistic

I hear ya!! I was just getting ready to power nap. There went that idea.

BTW, for the archives of "Do animals sense quakes?" please note that my muttly dog slept through the entire jolt lying on his back on his futon with his legs up in the air, snoring softly.

Most animals do but pets are probably not the best to rely on because they have been de-sensitized to their natural instincts.

That's so funny that your cats reacted from so far away while my wonder dog snoozed through it. I never said he was the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

for recognizing the MST3K banner. Tom Servo -- my hero.

I agree, Miles. Whenever I see those "liquefaction zone" maps, I shudder. But hey, if the aliens, NWO, flouride in the water, politicians, comets, and cosmic alignments don't get you, most probably the earthquakes will. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the ride. And today -- it was a roller coaster.

I'm over in the Sunset, by the zoo... Heard some odd animal noises in the distance this morning, then... Blammo! I certainly felt it. I'm originally from the U.K, so I'm really not used to all this shaking. I hope that's the largest I ever feel!
