This problem and all it's encumbrance's didn't start yesterday and won't end tomorrow. Change, good and bad, comes with growing pains. It is definitely a time of change. Basic laws need to be respected in every country. People need to be able to stand on the basic principles on the here and now. Bickering doesn't solve anything. People have always tried to take care of themselves and their own and no one is exempt from that responsibility as it makes any benefactor stronger.

Maybe Alabama don't have food stamps. I don't live there, so I don't know if they do. But, in other states low income people do get this assistance from their glorious state Uncle.

Legal or illegal has nothing to do with it. Anyone who pays taxes has the right to the benefits those taxes provide.

Where has my government been hiding that information you speak of. How did you, of all people, get access to it.

The right to pay taxes and/or benefit from their derivatives should be reserved for citizens only. Bottom line.

I tried to really digest and comprehend all the posts I have read on this thread. We are all helpless to ignorance and aversity. I applaud Alabama and Arizona in their comprehensive laws.

I think the point most people overlook is that these people are criminals...They have broken federal law by entering this country illegally. It is legal for us to kill criminals convicted of certain offenses, so why is denying them access to city water such a big deal?

This doesn't mean that illegal immigrants aren't allowed to get water anywhere, they just aren't allowed to get it from the city supply. I would have no problem with this affecting me, as I have all required legal documents. ANY legal citizen or resident in this country is provided documentation. And plus, I can speak English, so I could probably communicate my position rather fluently, as opposed to those who come here illegally and cannot speak the language of the place.

The only part of the OPs post that I agree with is that water is a basic human right. However, the people who are here illegally aren't being denied this basic right. They should be arrested and deported for breaking the law, and while in jail they would be given water. And for those who haven't been arrested and deported they are more than welcome to go down to a local river or lake and get some water for their basic human rights.

A state denying access to municipal water to anyone who isn't a legal resident of the state sounds good to me. If I were to move to Alabama I would have no problem providing the proper documents so I could get my water turned on. If someone is in this country illegally they are a criminal avoiding the law. Any businesses, states, cities or other entities that knowingly allow these criminals asylum by making it easy for them are just as guilty as far as I'm concerned.

You go to see a movie, tax is collected.

You get a paycheck, tax is deducted by the employer and sent to the gov automatically.

You don't even have to file a tax return to pay taxes.

Every time you spend, you pay taxes.

From the time you wake up in the morning, to the time you go to sleep at night, you're paying taxes, whatever you do.

Can't avoid the taxman. He is everywhere.

Cool...maybe you can get the illegals to pay my property tax, my school tax (even though I have no children in school), my income tax, and all the other taxes I'm paying that aren't collected at .07% by Walmart.

It's against the law for an illegal to "buy" a property. Illegals can't legally enter a binding contract required to buy a property. Of course, they can use a third party to purchase it for them.

I'm not in this for racial profiling, uh uh. And dude ALL federal laws apply to the territories, however there are laws and programs that don't apply to STATES. Like section 936. Believe me I was born and raise here on this little colony, they treat us different, us, the virgin islands, guam, even D.C. We have to follow all laws but don't get all the benefits. I don't know how to post links, or I would show you. One example: Death penalty is illegal under the PR constitution, but break a FEDERAL law that's punishable by death and they WILL kill you.

Excuse me, illegals do not pay taxes. You need to read up on this topic. Illegal has everthing to do with it. Read the word. Illegal=meaning against the law. I support Alabama & Arizona, please go and find the post comparing Joe Legal & Jose Illegal, explains the problem really well.
