So you are saying that is a person likes guns they don't mind a little death? It always seem like the anti gun side, which is typically championed by the hard liberals, show more of a tendency towards violence. Most of the people I know Carry or at least own a gun. Not a single one of them is violent person.I personally conceal carry everywhere I go. I have never once been in a position where i even though for a fraction of a second that I may need to pull it out. I actually wish that I never have to do it. One thing I have noticed is that the Liberals are the ones that go around destroying things while spreading their message of tolerance and peace. Lets say for the sake of argument, that most gun rights supporters are either right wing or libertarian, and most gun control nuts are liberals and socialists. Which group actually displays more violence and hate?

You are very narrow-minded.

As someone who has been in "the war business" for decades, I actively encourage my two sons to take different paths, because of the horrors and violence that I've witnessed.
My eldest is in the ministry.
My youngest? Math and science. And while both know how to shoot, they are the kindest, gentlest children you could imagine.

Sometimes, kids are just kids. When I was a wee lad, we didn't have Nerf guns. We had sticks and cap pistols. Even farther back, sons probably emulated fathers with spears and axes and rocks. You can try to change behaviour instilled trough millenia of generations, based on political correctness, but ultimately, you would fail.

I think ultimately you would fail and the proof is the police state we call a society.

My favorite game as a kid was guns and girls and boys would play altogether. If you were "hit" you had to lay there dead. There is a big difference between ALLOWING children to exercise their freedom to play as they like and as their parents would like them to and there is a big difference between that philosophy and others who are looking for a less violent future for our children and so do not want to be seen as PUSHERS AND PROMOTERS OF VIOLENCE. Are they banning the toys from children? Will the guns be force-ably removed if the kid doesn't fork it over? I don't think so.

Do you even see a difference or are you so afraid this action toward non-violence somehow translates into someone wants to dis-arm YOU that you cannot see and accept a correlation between guns and violence?

Will ignorance really persevere and get everyone on the side of nerf guns? Will it? Yes I think it will.
Do you think the children care as much as the gun advocating parents do? I doubt it.

well ya know most anti gun supporters are narrow minded. T o actually make a jump of logic saying that nerf guns should be banned because they lead to real guns in the hand of children is just plain stupid. Whatever happened to parenting skills? It does fall on the parents to make sure their children understand the difference. If they actually redirected some of the energy they used to attempt to steal my guns to instructing their children then this wouldnt be an issue.

Correct. It is very narrowly focused on peace so I am sorry if I do not see the inherent value of encouraging all children to appreciate the glories of responsible gun ownership. It is a quirk and yes I might be wrong and one day dead and you will live to tell about it. I'll take that chance. I have a gun anyway. I just don't promote them. I leave that for people with more free time to pursue those lofty goals.

I don't think anyone is saying that.

This brave new world wants to raise children with a fear of guns. Just another attack on the 2nd Ammendment where there will be more and more brain-washed drones supporting the "state".

Those of us want to instill responsibility.

You and others want to instill fear.

Who's the "controllers" here? Hmmm. . . . .

Well we sure as hell agree one this one.

The feel of holding a "gun" does absolutely nothing to stop the motivation that
convinces people to kill other people.

The participant parents have very little faith in the way they have raised their own
children.

Here's the source the blogger used

What has the world come to....If only parents would take responsibility these days, things like this wouldn't happen. How about not exposing children to violence their whole life, and teach them the difference between right and wrong instead of worrying about your fantasy football or housewife club.

I just don't see this having ANY impact on the problem of gun violence itself.

I was a kid of the 80's, into war movies, playing war, all of us had survival knives by the time we were
10, I even saved up to buy a real hand grenade (explosive charge and firing pin gutted of course).
The toy guns we played with looked like the real deal too... For 3 years we were totally obsessed with
play violence, however we didn't fight or hurt animals, we were simply adrenaline junkies I suppose.

My point is none of my friends from that period because violent, or even became gun owners for that matter.

Someone should seriously stage a "Nerf driveby" on this pizza place and church group.

Oh wait, someone would pretend to be hurt and sue.

at 10 years old I used to go deer hunting with my father. having owned a bb gun for 2 years he had already taught me gun safety. he would carry the 30-30 and i would carry my .22 when hunting with permission to shoot all the squirrels i could eat...needless to say, i never shot a squirrel those things are not very tasty, at least my 10 year old mind imagined so.

take away children's curiosity about weapons and once in adulthood only the criminals will know how to defend/attack. my father removed my curiosity of guns by allowing me to learn what he knew, under supervision about gun safety etc.

i could adjust and site a scope by 11, thank you dad. because of you, zombies don't stand a chance when i am armed.

Let's not forget those plastic lightsabers as a gateway to swords and knives. I guess we're not too concerned with knives, though, are we? Since the military has guns, knives are easy to defeat. Guns v. guns is a little more worrisome a scenario to the elite.

Gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

Let's not forget that.

This is funnier than most Onion stories.

Will their program work to reduce violence? No. Guns are proven to reduce violence. And, nuclear weapons may very well be decreasing violence among nations. When you see a story about China wanting to attack the USA who is going to take it seriously when the US has 10,000 nukes? Not many.

Excellent idea!

The kids ought to get a real kick out of it.
In this whole matter it should be up to the kids to decide without their parents interference and just because we all had fun with guns as children is no reason to PROMOTE GUNS NOW.

The problem with people here in this thread ( totally designed to make people think their second amendment is being threatened) is they confuse freedom and rights with propaganda and promotion. You can still have one without the other but not when it comes to weapons. Somebody needs to push their popularity along since they have no inherent value, except a negative value...on their own.
