Op, your first few lines says it all
"I'm not American... I have never lived in America... But, like many English speaking people around the world I was brought up watching American films
and listening to American music. But this isn't about films or music. "
This tells anyone from American all they need to know, you are not American, and you have never Lived in America, thus you have no concept of what it
means to be American, nor in reality do you have any concept of what the past 10 years or so has done to our country. American films and music, do
not give you the experience or information to form opinions about the leader of our country or the current state of our country as a whole. You can
try to form outside opinions, and thats fine to each thier own, but they would not necessarily be correct, until you were born, grew up and have lived
in America, and are an American.
From my point of view Obama is a puppet, outside forces guide him through his continious attempts to socialize this country, a country that has since
its founding been based on its peoples rights to personal freedom.
Past history has shown us that ANY type of socialism attempted does not work. Eventually it fails as the people who live and work in the socialized
coutry finally get thier belly full of never having enough money to survive, of watching thier politicians live the high life while they struggle to
make ends meet, of watching thier loved ones die for lack of medical care, and thier sons and daughters struggle to live.
Americans are endowed through the constitution with certain rights, the document was meant to allow us to protect ourselves. Slowly we have been
watching those rights be eroded away, and ever so slowly there is a growing discontent among the masses.
While most european countries have visible protests, and rallys when they have issues with thier political system, its a bit harder to do over here,
mostly because our country is so BIG. Most european countries are the size of one or more of our smaller states. And yes, we have had protests, and
rallys in our country, but with a country this size, they really dont make a dent, because it doesnt affect enough people, it doesnt disrupt thier
daily lives enough to make them sit up and take notice.
Hopefully, in the near future things wil change, there is a small but growing discontent with the rights that are slowly being eroded, with the
economic state our country is in, and the personal freedoms which are being taken away in the name of protection for the masses. Its about time the
masses took it upon themselves to protect themselves and kept big briother out of it, and it will happen when enough people get hungry enough, or
scared enough, or watch enough people die.
Until then, observe if you like, comment if you like, but dont you dare try to tell us how to run our country when you live heaven knows where and
have never lived here and are not an American by birth.
You wanted to know how we were worse off- We cant go anywhere or do anything that big brother isnt watching, It is so expensive to live that 70% of
the people in our country are either on food stamps or go to a food pantry to get enough to eat, and then its often not enough, we have an approximate
unemployment rate of 25%, medical dental, and vision care is prohibitively high priced if you dont have insurance, and if you make a minimum wage,
you cant afford to pay the premiums for insurance, and if you have a job you dont get state provided medical care. Utiltiy bills are so high that our
elderly have to make the choice between keeping the heat on in the winter, and buying the medications that make thier lives acceptable, same goes for
anyone who has a child that needs constant medication. Higher education costs are so high now that only the wealthy can afford them without being in
debt for the next 40 years after you get out of school. Banks have been bailed out with federal money, as have car manufacturers, but the little guy
who does all the work, and pays the coutries bills has been given nothing, after Obamas little cash for clunkers fiasco, you cant even buy a cheap
descent car to drive back and forth to work, instead you have to buy something from a dealership that costs far to much, and eventually gets
reposessed because you cant afford to buy gas for it, pay the car insurance, and still make the payment. Our coutry is too big to have coutry wide
transportation(example: I live 24 miles one way from work-no jobs any closer so I have to drive 48 miles everyday). Minimum wage doesnt even begin to
cover the cost of housing, insurance, food, clothing, transportation, utilities. So there, thats whats wrong with our country. Who caused it, our
politicians who lie from the beginning of thier campaigns right to thier seat in the house, senate, or presidential seat, the ones who allow others to
make descisions for them against thier better judgement, and the wishes of thier constituents.
