Pardon my ignorance, are the sirens for another potential tsunami, or due to the nuclear issues?

Earthquake sirens. But I don't know at which magnitude they go off... probably minimum of 5.5 or something.

Thank's, I didn't realise they had warnings for earthquakes. Living in the UK we don't have to deal with earthquakes so knowledge is sketchy.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's the explosion that triggered the alarms? I read last night the second explosion could have triggered the tsunami and earthquake alarms. I believe this is the case.

this is kinda concerning to me, i'm keeping an eye on all the earthquakes at quakes.globalincidentmap.com... and there hasnt been a peep in japan for 4 hours. i mean its good that they arent shaking anymore, but could this be a sign of a big one on the way?

BREAKING NEWS: Some workers begin to evacuate No. 2 reactor: TEPCO

Workers leaving site, maybe a sign of the worst kind, no one to work the pumps?

An "explosive impact" occurred at the No. 2 reactor at a quake-damaged nuclear power plant in Japan, plant's owner says.

How will that impact the overall situation?

What role does that portion of the unit play in the overall operation of the reactor?

Is it me or is it taking a while for video of the third explosion to get out?

TV news seems to be skirting around the issue.. not much info anywhere except that an explosion was heard..
Getting better info from the net..

I hope my thoughts wont be proved right with this new blast being bad...

SOME workers. In any case workers leaving is not a good thing, but I'm guessing there are still workers along the area. Also, I'm guessing that the pumps are automatically affiliated, not manually if that's what you're stating. Overall though, that is not good news.

At the same time, earthquake sirens were going off in Tokyo and now another blast to #2 reactor....Could this new aftershock cause the explosion.
