This is one of the most racist and ignorant things ive read in a while.

I thought SA was supposed to be improving now a days.

Edit to add: LOL @ the comment about blacks migrating into south africa and taking the land the whites owned first. So does white man take the credit for adams calander now?

South Africa improving? Its going from 1st world country, straight to 3rd world without bothering to stop at 2nd world status.

There has been a huge brain drain OUT of south africa, fleeing to other countries, especially the US

WTF? I have absolutely no idea what this thread is saying. Honestly, it sounds to me like Jared Loughner has been given access to a computer and he is back on here with his psycho-babble nonsense.

Returning to ATS now, and I can see how it may not make sense to people outside SA.
(I get that feeling a lot with threads about US politics, so not to worry.)
I mention the Karoo (a beautiful but arid region on the southern SA escarpment).
Currently a ruinous form of gas-mining called "fracking" is proposed for the area, which is very controversial.

The corrupt ANC henchemen love to pay lip service to all things "African", but otherwise there is little African-ness about them. Everything that happens here has kickbacks from foreign firms. So it was with the corrupt R60 Billion arms deal, and so it seems with fracking. In fact, although we all pay tax for roads, they are just one of the things that have fallen into ruin under the ANC. Now they want us to pay foreign firms for toll roads, beginning in Gauteng in July.

ANC also helped spread some of the worst AIDS/HIV misinformation there was. At first they would deny there was any such thing, and that it was just a rumor from whites to stop blacks from having sex and making babies.

And then after they could not hold up that part anymore, they then started spreading that the wayfor a man to get rid of it was to rape a white virgin woman.

Yeah, in recent years the government has failed to provide simple services like water and electricity. It's corrupted from top to bottom.

Don't see it going anywhere. Sure there's been progress in certain areas but the rest are going down hill. In the next few years the water in this country will become undrinkable because of the acid rising from the mines into water sources. They've been warned countless times yet I've seen absolutely no mention of implementing a plan of action to stop this from happening.

Like you said if something isn't done this country will find itself declining at an uncontrollable speed.

What your mentioning is called the brain drain. All the educated folks left. Don't see this changing because the government keeps bringing the school standards down. So we're just breeding more stupid.

Here in the US, when I have done some flying with scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research, it seems at times like it is a South African organization, with as much Afrikaans as I hear around them.

Not only that but the health minister took liberty of embarrassing the entire country by saying African potatoes will cure your aids, which, of course, it won't.

If it wasn't for certain determined individuals this country would have been the next African tragedy a long time ago.

What will third world countries do without Western knowledge?

Be free?

.
..
...

Why do some people think that "the West" should be that psico big brother that saves you, but just to get you in debt?

Besides... what exactly do people mean by "the West"?
Kind of reminds of old movies where one can shoot a guy's hat of his head....

Peace

If being free includes a big fuel guzzling car, a mansion removed from the poor, R7000 hair extensions to look more Western, designer clothing and Johnny Walker Blue Label Whiskey with Cola (and eating Sushi from semi-naked women) then our ANC are free indeed!
"Freedom" doesn't mean liberation from Western advances, clinics and luxuries.
Freedom in SA means enjoying all the above for the black upper class, while moaning endlessly about colonialism.
It is the biggest contradiction ever.
In fact, it seems to be about exploiting white guilt.
Well, may they enjoy all the good Western things for as long as it lasts.
The way they are going about it means it is not sustainable.

Well, go live in a 3rd world country and see if you do not like western knowledge and technology. Especially if you contract Malaria, or some other tropical disease.

People in 3rd world countries really do not aspire to live in poverty, but a large number of 1st world people think those 3rd world livestyles and villages are quaint and would like to keep them living like that.

1st world country, 2nd world, 3rd....

I leave the labels for the "labalers".

I live in Brazil... what is the current status? 3rd? 2nd? 1st?

This "label war" doesn't help the poor.

Peace

If 3rd world dirt holes stopped exporting powdered milk to America you wouldn't have any milk, dairy products, or anything made with those products.

We rely on 3rd world countries now more than they rely on us. They actually get the short end of the stick..our dollars. notice it's led to a global equalization of economies?

New cars cost more in Mexico now than America. Wrap yer head around that. The average Chinese wage is now equal to what our Baby Boomers will get for Social Security every month.

Western world's no more. Globalizations leveled the playing field. They can pull the plug and end the Western world by ceasing exports. You ain't bringing back dairy farming to america.

Those Farms were all chopped up and made into subdivisions for a quick buck since the 80's. We couldn't make clothes and shoes for ourselves again....EVER. This generation ain't going to sit at no sewing machine for 12-16 hours a day. NEVER WILL HAPPEN.

That whole message is utterly wrong, The US does not import milk powder, it actually EXPORTS it to 3rd world countries. You seem to have missed the fact that the US does have a lot of dairy farming and produces more milk than it uses, which is why milk has been so cheap lately.
