Apparently, there's SIX more states where democrats are preparing to run from because of similar legislation against unions.

So... yeah this ain't over by a long shot.

will they also go to illinois? why would Rom Emanual leave a perfectly good job to seek office in illinois. Is there a connection? If Oswego shows up on this thread Im leaving the country and seeing if Sweaty Dave has an extra room.To watch the Arabs burn them selves down is one thing. Where this could go in this country, I dont want any part of. We can lie and tell stories all day long about the system crumbling but I never ever want to see it here.

Seriously? Democrats flee the scene in two states so far? What about being responsible and do your freaking job instead of leaving?

What would have happened if the republicans had left congress everytime Obama wanted to pass something?

You're the one joking here, right? I respect your opinions and intelligence on most things, Vitchilo, but on this you're just wrong.

They ARE doing their jobs----using the the only method they have to ensure their constituents aren't railroaded by the Koch brothers into a disastrous bill for a manufactured crisis.

They are doing EXACTLY what the republicans did EVERY time the left wanted to pass something: they are filibustering. Remember how the right did that literally every single time a bill came up? And remember what their most common excuse was? "We need to compromise on this, and the democrats won't even talk to us." Walker won't even TALK to the dems. No compromises; he's "not willing to budge." So now the Wisconsin dems are doing the only thing they can: depriving the Right of the "quorum" they need to pass the bill, because they already have enough votes to pass it without a single dem voting for it. They simply need one of them there in order to railroad this bill through. So yes, they are doing EXACTLY what their constituents want them to: standing up for the rights of the WORKERS, not the RICH.

Since unions drove up employment costs to the point the jobs went there in the first place, maybe unions should work on trying to get them back instead of funding political activities.

Right.
Let's post more quotes from the latest union talking points memos that have no basis in fact and only seek to promote fear instead of understanding.

You're right...they should have settled for minimum wage. Who in there right mind would fight for a better life?

The jobs won't come back without tariffs. YOU CAN'T LOWER TAXES ENOUGH TO COMPETE WITH SLAVE LABOR. The Unions are too weak. They cannot fund enough Democrats to do anything about free trade. Republicans will never do anything about it and you know it.

Union membership is at an all time low....just as the middle class has fallen apart. It's not a coincidence.

THE SAME PEOPLE!!!!! Do you realize what will happen if the state workers get their pay and bennies cut significantly, which they are willing to accept in exchange for keeping the right to collectively bargain? You won't be getting any tax money back, if that's what you're thinking. Oh no, Walker already gave deficit-creating tax cuts to businesses which WON'T CREATE A SINGLE JOB but still line their pockets anyways. There's no tax savings to give back to the unemployed guy. Instead, state workers have less money to spend in the small businesses of Wisconsin, creating a further decline in their economy, which means less employment opportunities. How exactly would that HELP the unemployed guy?

Very correct centurion. Couple posters you've called out spewing nothing but talking points from their masters. It is funny the dems run to Illinois the most corrupt political state in the country. We have folks crying about the state wanting to get into pension funds of unions but had no problem with union pension funds building vegas for the mafia back in the day. Tenn and Ohio are up next in this union shootout and Iowa close behind. New governor of Iowa has rescinded an executive order that only allowed state contracts to be awarded to unions and up next is removing health care from bargaining for state workers. Wonder if the dems from these states will head to Illinois too. Hell may as well just hold the democrat convention there because it appears they'll all already be there hiding out from their elected responsibilities.

Yeah, i was told to repeat everything I said by my master. Unfortunately like many people here, like Centurion, I try to think for myself.

Dispute the disappearance of the middle class and the unions. Are we to blame the weakened unions for the weakened middle class?

Is that what I'm supposed to believe? Come on....educate me genius.

You are absolutely correct, however it does not take unions to rescue our nation, it takes us rising up off our couches, waddling our fat asses down to the street corner and protest. Democrats were never the party of tariffs, history makes it very clear the party of the tariff was the Republicans, however it mostly depends upon the region you are in. Southeast and frontier supported free-trade, Northeast and Midwest supported tariffs, so it all depends on who controls the national scene.

Unions do not want tariffs, they made that clear, they want 'fair trade'. It is about the internationalist boo-hoo crap. What happens to workers in China is none of my business and I could care less, what I care about are American jobs and the American economy, so unions are only fighting for their international social justice.

I am not a Labor Leader; I do not want you to follow me or anyone else; if you are looking for a Moses to lead you out of this capitalist wilderness, you will stay right where you are. I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I led you in, some one else would lead you out. You must use your heads as well as your hands, and get yourself out of your present condition.

- Socialist Party leader Eugene V. Debs.

We cannot expect a union, a corporation, or anyone else to save us from whatever conditions we find horrid. We must rely on ourselves and our brothers to lead ourselves to a just nation. Unions cannot do this, we must do this. We the people of this great country must reclaim it ourselves.

Is there a parasite the doesn't end up killing the host?

All the "jobs overseas" conversation is disingenuous at best if it comes from a union member. Sorry.
It's a basic cost of goods lesson and I think unions missed that part of econ 101.

Correct.

If you still have a union job, what exactly has the union accomplished for you in the last 25 years (being generous here) except making sure you have less co-workers because the jobs went to other countries with - you guessed it! - no unions?

I'd add "you do the math", but to be fair, I wonder did any of these pro-union people actually pass or even take - math in school?

I don't really care what political party you belong to, but leaving the state so the legislature can not do anything is wrong.

Stand up for what you believe in. This is a democracy. Sometimes the people will support your positions, sometimes they won't.

Deal with it.

What middle class unions? According to you folks they are underpaid slave labor being taken advantage of by evil corporations. Get your talking points straight. I'm middle class and never been in a union. I work and pay for myself don't depend on taxpayers to fund my lifestyle or cry and whine about it when I don't get a raise or have to pay a lowly percentage of my healthcare. I go get another job if I'm not happy. It's simple stuff when your not a slave to the master like you union folks are, the masters being their unions themselves.

Do your union masters cut the rifraff out and reward employees who achieve? Nope they want as many members as possible to collect dues from so they can make their house payments in their private communities.

I am a Wisconsinite, I've found this whole thing frustrating at first, but I've changed views and just laugh now. All of this, everything happening, not just here in my home state, but everywhere...is because we depend on others to guide, aide, comfort, etc., etc.. And those that we depend on for such have taken advantage of that... it's like common sense now. All we need is to be dependent on ourselves... I being a very independent person have learned much about the ecosystems around me and within my state. I could live in the wild, in true comfort, in true happiness. This whole technological society is really a failed experiment... the failure is becoming more and more evident, climaxing if you will. I will ride along until the battles begin, then I'm off to the woods to fend for myself.

But in another thought, the animals are awakening...
The Lions in the Middle East have/continue to roar...
The Sleeping Dragon gave a puff of smoke in China (perhaps a sign of an awakening)
And the Eagles are beginning to scream in the U.S.

If things are to continue on as normal in the future... then I still support the man I voted for, Scott Walker, who said there were going to be changes. It's not mine nor his fault if you voted for him and didn't know what the change would mean...good or bad...change is change. And Russ Feingold, can go find gold in another state, he'll never be governor here again.
