Thanks for posting that. Interestingly, it's location is 1 mile south of Greenbrier (1/4 mile from my home). I bet that location is adjusted like the last couple.

You are welcome, I saw your post and clicked on WHAR, took a few minutes for it to come up there. I figured it would be bigger than the one earlier.

That one earlier was 2 km ( 1 mi) E of Greenbrier, AR
This one was 2 km ( 1 mi) S of Greenbrier, AR

SO we have one South, one East
And the little ones in between were all ENE
And the one before the earlier big one was ESE

earthquake.usgs.gov...

of Greenbrier.

I don't know what that means tho. Just making observations.

Rumbling the past 24 hours and then this
4.0 quake. It seems things are starting
up again. Susan or others in the area
what did this one feel like? Swaying, rolling,
etc. I had such a bad migraine yesterday
I went back to the Dr. A little better today -
still have a slight headache but the dizziness
and aura's are gone.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread
going - I have held off posting for a while
mostly because of my health, thought
perhaps a break would help but I come
here everyday to read. Stay safe all!

They've changed the location and move it to the north of Greenbrier.
How wet is the soil? I know it rained there recently. Is the watertable high?

Just heard elsewhere about your 4.0. Somebody said "what, did a picture on the wall rattle" kind of thing. People just don't know how serious it is to have activity in that area! For "education's" sake, besides feeling some health issues (and I do hope everyone is well, or feeling better) what do you folks have going on when a 4.0 hits?

OK, can cancel the request. They're getting informed. (Want people to be informed!!!)

We've had some rain recently, but soil around here isn't wet or boggy. I don't know about the watertables but I'll see what I can find out.

Robin, the depth of the last 2 big earthquakes seems deeper than the norm. Do you have any records of the quakes from the active period to compare? And if they are occurring at greater depths than before, what does that mean, if anything?

I was outside on my cell phone talking to a friend in TX. It rumbled pretty good for 20 to 30 seconds, shook and all the windchimes on my patio were ringing and clanging and the deer feeder was swaying pretty good. The dogs went off and not a bird in sight anywhere. The plumb bob has some sway on it now. I could tell it was building back up again and can feel the pressure. I just hope we don't have any more and no one else's house explodes.

Our soil is still pretty wet damp and has not dried out from the rain the other day. No puddles but it's damp.

Here's the giant list of quakes. The depths are deep but there have been many in this range.

What was the weather like during the five day period before the last rainfall during the five day pause?

If I remember correctly we did have some rain last week. It also turned cold on us again for a couple of nights.

we were outside with our dogs and I heard what sounded and felt like loud, close thunder and suddenly several dogs (not ours!) were running to us and between our legs. It was lightly sprinkling rain so we thought we needed to get the dogs in the house, but when we got inside some empty boxes I had stacked up last night had toppled over sooooo I jumped on the comp and surprise surprise. I was expecting it though.

Let me start by saying the I am a writer first. Which means I am unable to post cool graphics. The best I can do is give you links. I hope the folks from QuakeWatch and Yellowstone follow me here and give me a hand.

I am warning the people of the Mississipii River Valley that a big one may be near. Earthquake activity in Arkansas is gone past the realm of curiousity and is now a real concern. I'll just start with some links to show you the history of quakes in the area over the last year. I've been talking about this on the QuakeWatch thread so I will be directing you there for more research.

As I write, the quakes are ongoing and there seems to be no end to the lastest flurry. In my next post I'll provide links. I must now go look at the new quakes and try to examine them.

Please take this seriously. I am. I've been focused on Arkansas over the last few months and this is not a knee-jerk reaction. I wouldn't be sticking this out there if I thought I was just being an alarmist without a clause.

It's real. Have a look for yourself.

Here's the current webicorder.

Here's yesterday's.

Here's the list of posted quakes. There's lots of little ones not yet posted.

Look at the current USGS maps and look at how Alaska is lit like a Christmas Tree. These are all recently. What the is going on? Anymore and Alaska will split right at Anchorage from the Aleutian Islands northeast up to North Central Yukon-Koyukuk County. Eventually those poor folks are going to have to be relocated and the State abandoned.

Strange as it seems the aftershocks in this case
have occured before the quake. Reason being the
last one was the largest.

BTW the outdoor animals have been crazy today.
So many blackbirds flying low in strange patterns
and some even swooping down on the squirrels.
I think at one time I counted 15 birds on my small
front porch and many more in the front yard. My
cat sat in the window all day watching them, at
least he was entertained as I was a bit concerned.
