Imagine a school dedicated to teaching torture, to educating soldiers on how to rape and murder American nuns and assassinate Salvadoran priests; an institution whose mission is to demonstrate how to ‘disappear’ innocent civilians with total impunity.From Pinochet's soldiers in Chile, D'Aubuisson's death squads in El Salvador, Banzer's minions in Bolivia, Galtieri's operatives in Argentina and Rios Montt's soldiers in Guatemala to the present-day generals responsible for the coup in Honduras and the drug war killings in Colombia, the School of the Americas has a dark legacy. Renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, the school has graduated 65,000 soldiers from 18 countries.

Well there is a group watching and recording actions at this place, questions need to be asked, read the article, they've trained some real bad men at this place

I am certain that our nation is being run by psychopaths. We only
hear about them when they get caught. But they have risen thru
the corporate ranks as well as the ranks of the military. Who else
would even come up with the idea of creating a school like
that?

So, are the Mexican drug cartels sending their people to this
school? It certainly does seem plausible. Drugs, violence, a
torture school and a lot of money. Psyops? The CIA would
never let an opportunity like that go to waste. I'll bet we're
training our own terrorists. Just like we are creating them
in the Middle East.

They demand that the school be closed.

It will only start up operations somewhere else and the US ill still fund it.
The US government can get away with loosing trillions of dollars then a few more missing dollars isn’t really going to be an issue for them.

They protest this ( cough cough) "school" every year around Thanksgiving like clockwork. It isn't much of a secret since people get arrested every year. I suppose if you don't live in the US, this would seem like a secret. Martin Sheen, sadly known today as Charlie's father, is a regular at the protest. Martin used to protest at the NTS on I think on New Years, but you don't read much about that protest.

The SOA was a big deal if you were on planet earth during the Reagan era since the SOA trained the Contras, AKA the equivalent of our founding fathers (cough cough). The Contras massacred a bus full of nuns, and things only got uglier. Finally the Iran-Contra arms deal came to light and it was "please please give me a presidential pardon" time.

One thing I always wonder about places like this is, would going to such a place to learn these methods be helpful if one were to turn "vigilante" or "mercenary" and only do this kind of work against known criminals and the like? Would that then also make those doing this for the lawful side as bad as those who train in this to kill innocents?

Geez this is just typical liberals who want our country to dismantle all of its military institutions that promote democracy and freedom and the american way of life for citizens of the world foreign and domestic. Being that I am a real american I can tell you that this is all propaganda from socialist elements hoping to remove the military that our country relies on for defense so they can institute an islamic state.

this place is no secret. it's been public knowledge for a LONG time. Everyone knew about it when I was at Ft Benning in 91. They weren't teaching anything to the central americans that we weren't showing to the rangers. It was a little off putting when you would randomly come across a Honduran army officer on your way to the PX though.

Remember, the SOA is to train foreigners, not US soldiers. Training foreign troops has the risk of "blow back." [In criminology, blow back is the bits of flesh and blood that get blown back fro the victim to the shooter. In the spy/military world, blow back is when you train somebody and they turn against you.] The Zetas in Mexico are a prime example of SOA blow back. They started out fighting the criminal drug elements in Mexico, then switched to guarding the criminals, then they became the criminals.

There is no shortage of blow back in US history. Gadaffy used to have a locker at Wheelus AFB. Bin Ladden needs no explanation. Thus the justification to shut down the SOA. We need stupider enemies!
