the so called laughing man is not saying anything new, anyone on ats or even youtube knows all of this already. i do not applaud his hacking at all nor do i agree with the idiots who said he was a hero. if the laughing man really wanted to be a hero he could try to be a little more like gary mckinnon IMO. i woonder what kind of jail time he could get for this.

I love the fact that he hacked facebook to get a message across.

The message is very important and needs to be heard by all those that have their heads down, grazing and awaiting the slaughter. I think it is wonderful that someone is doing something/anything to try to get it out there.

To speak negatively on this does not make sense. Thank God that someone is TRYING to voice their opinion and make a difference.

His message is important, can't you muster up anything better than "it's stupid"? It clearly isn't stupid, and if you weren't clearly blind to everything around you, you'd understand that. "None are most hopelessly enslaved than those that falsely believe they are free." Go back to sleep.

Get over yourself "laughing man", you're not that important, spread your message like anyone else, you have no special rights.

It's clear you don't get the laughing man thing, and people spread messages like this one all the time, but do they get heard? Take this 2 year old YouTube video for instance:

Only through such efforts such as this one by the Laughing Man will people ever bother paying attention. That video had 20,000+ views. That's not bad. But plenty of people manage to get their message out without hacking and annoying people.

Think of Alex Jones, as much as I dislike him, when he works hard on getting some message out, he can get 500,000+ views, like his lebron video, or 6+ million for his Obama Deception.

That "Thomas Paine" guy got millions of views for his videos.

This "laughing man" video is garbage, not even as good as an average Alex Jones video, so it won't go viral naturally. But he's such a narcissist, he has to force it by hacking.

That's just not how the world works.

Our messages get out based on their merits. If I say something important/insightful on ATS, I get a lot of stars/flags through a natural system, and lots of people read it. I don't sign up a bunch of sockpuppets to force it onto the front page. If i've said something that people don't find of interest, I just leave it, and try again.

I believe in a system of natural merit. A free market of ideas.

The "laughing man" does not. If we all behaved as vigilantes like this guy, it would just be meaningless chaos.

With all of the talk of the users "Anonymous" and their apparent HQ "4chan", I attempted to visit the site to see what it was all about...I know, I'm late; I never really heard of that group or that site before.

Anyway, how can anyone gain any useful information off of "4chan"? I couldn't navigate through that mess even if I tried. The whole site is disorganized with posts that seem to have no start or finish, or even a relate-able topic. Maybe I'm missing something, but I consider myself fairly well versed in internet navigation, and I couldn't make heads or tails of that place.

He should have stuck with the "Ghost in the Shell" laughing man for the entire video. (i.e. the first one he uses in the video to conceal his identity.)

Good message, but I think it's too little too late. Kids today are all walking around with cell phones stuck to thier heads, texting eachother all day long. Growing up with that sort of technology being "normal" I see this younger generation haveing no problem conforming to new government gadgets RFID chips, embedded in thier hand or thier ID's.

Kids don't go out and just "play" anymore.

The longer this technology increase of convienence > * continues, the more enslaved the average person will become.

Unfortunately I see ZERO signs of this trend turning around. All this "green" nonsense thay are shoving down our throats is anything but "green".

The few who hold power above all else, will continue to hold it..BY ANY MEANS NECCESARY!!! They haven't a care for the earth or, damage to the environment. They have thier evacuation plans, and bunkers already built.

It's nearing checkmate, and I fear only a great sacrafice is going to get mankind out of this endgame, and force a draw (i.e. world peace). That sacrafice being, a large amount of people who will die if what needs to be done IS Done. This is the only way man can truely become free.

But it can only work if everyone is all in, and unfortunately I don't see it happening. Although the populace out numbers the governments army by an insane amount. People are too afraid, too enslaved, too lazy, too busy texting eachother about useless $^%# to bother.

I don't know, is there an underground group of revolutionists somewhere?

Who will save us if we don't save ourselves?

My avatar which I've had for nearly a year now is of the main character of the Anime.

If he has hacked accounts, it can't be many, or it would be much bigger news, in my opinion.

The video on YouTube is pretty old now.

Maybe the "hacking" angle is all just a lie to add a boost to the story and make it more exciting?

The message of the video is great though...I only wish more people would listen.

I've seen this country get worse and worse every year....to the point where it is nearly unrecognizable to the country I once looked up to as being the role model for all others.

Aside from the hacking part, I am glad this person or group chose to do something positive with their efforts. I cannot say I support the method they used, but at least they didn't steal personal information and harm the users they targeted...The methods are unconventional for sure, but these are very scary times and people are using drastic actions.

without the hacking angle there is no story. would any of us be on this thread if the op was "some guy posts a video on youtube"?

Here is the deal with 4chan and all the chans.

They are an image posting board for anything. The pages are disected in interests (ie: /x/ is paranormal)

Most everyone there is there to post up random crap, spam, troll, and etc. /b/ is the heart of the 'anonymous' movement, where people RANDOMLY come together. The entire Anonymous thing was a stand alone complex (GitS referencing finally coming in handyness!)

They came together simply by certain threads posted up as 'hate messages' against Scientology. Eventually, enough people got behind these random posts that more and more started to post them. Pretty much building a buzz that spread to other sites about the evils. Making even more people get pissed off. Some people began to organize events and attacks at random. There WAS no "HQ", even though some places claim it. It was a mass-chaos that began with people intentionally trying to stir up crap - probably with no idea of how it would take off.

4chan itself is just a random image website for random topics. I myself go to /tg/ for table top / traditional gaming topics, usually full of people posting trans-gender ("tg"), table top game porn, random posts of gaming related crap, fan-fiction and fan-drawing (usually porn requests of favorite characters etc) threads, and last but not least: people trying to troll us by calling us virgins/kids/faties/etc for being nerds and- usually getting fed with everyone going into rage-flame mode over the post.

There is NO organization, at all. The only moderation that exists there, is to insure that viruses, illegal content, and that boards stay sort-of-on-topic.
