It's certainly one way to get students to pay attention.

Trouble is, it's bound to get the Secret Service's attention too.

An Alabama geometry teacher, in an apparent effort to teach his students about parallel lines and angles, used a theoretical assassination attempt on President Barack Obama to demonstrate the angle at which a gunman would have to shoot the president.

"We are going to have a long conversation with him about what's appropriate," Hammonds said. "It was extremely poor judgment on his part, and a poor choice of words."

- Roy Sexton, special agent in charge of Birmingham's Secret Service office

Wow, I mean... wow... you have to be pretty special to think you can use that example without someone asking questions. Sure the kids might not question your example but all you need is one kid to tell one parent about what they learned in math class and next thing you know secret service is knocking on the door. Personally I think the teacher can use whatever examples he wants but he is still a jackass. I wonder who told on him.

Seems a bit of a provocative event to theorise about.

How about just use an assasination or attempt that has actually happened, like Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Kennedy, Jackson, Roosevelt, Roosevelt, Truman, Nixon, Ford, Carter Reagan, Bush, Clinton.

en.wikipedia.org...

My the U.S. has made some enemies.

That dumbass lesson and illustration has changed that teachers life forever.

He should have used the illustration of what directions a person on a no flylist can go. His as of right now his is severely limited.

Or what direction a persons career takes when he even inadvertently threatens the potus.

Practical geometry!

Hey teach, welcome to the world picking things up and setting things down. Or flipping meat from oneside to the other.

Here's today's imbecile teacher story.
Honestly, don't you wonder how these dumb*** teachers make it through school and actually get hired?
Oh well, at least he wasn't boinking his students.

A graphic example of "letting your ideology get in the way of your common sense."

No he wasn't. But later on in the lesson he used that as an example of a good solid right angle.

I predict that two strange entities are about to become a new part of this Teachers life.

WND and Orly Taitz.

You guys are harsh! In retrospect it is pretty dumb, but in lesson planning, the teacher was probably visualizing all of the angles and investigation into the Kennedy Assassination; we have all seen them done over and over and over. He probably wanted to make it more current for the students, so he used the current POTUS.

Sure, Deer Hunting, or historical reference, or a carnival game would have been just as effective and less problematic, but lets not crucify the poor teacher. It is hard enough to get kids to pay attention in math class, and duck the secret service, he doesn't need us spitting on his bandwagon.

What more would anyone expect from the South? Guns, ignorant teachers, and hate for anyone other than Christians, Conservatives, and Caucasians.

I visited the state of Alabama for a few days passing across the country a few years ago. Let me tell you WITHOUT ANY EXAGGERATION, those people were the most ignorant I've ever met in this country and I have been to neither EVERY state. I am being 100% HONEST! They are SO IGNORANT that I thought I was dreaming. I was speechless and couldn't wait to GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE!!

Then why not use an example like Lady Gaga or something, at least I could actually agree with that.

Huge double-standard. Under the Bush administration they were making fekking MOVIES about Bush's assassination, the Libs were joking about it. Nobody was run up the flagpole for that.

Now we have the big bad Obama administration that's as fragile as an egg, you would think, with the SS chasing down everyone who even looks cross-eyed at the Magic Negro.

Gimmy a break. This administration needs to grow up and STOP ATTACKING THE PEOPLE, you slimy socialist bastards.

Her handlers are even more vicious than Obama's! Besides, we don't know if a mere Earthling projectile can kill her alien biosuit.

Maybe the teacher can use her in a Physics experiment instead of just Geometry.

Yeah? You ever spent five minutes alone on a corner at night on the east side of Detroit?

You wanna talk about ig'nint, uneducated, and dangerous low-down scum, you get your research team up into the bad side of Detroit and tell me which people are the lowest-down stupid excuses for humanity.

You'll be begging for Alabama, brother.

And we didn't mind seeing you go either!

People without Guns and God and Values and Morals, trying to talk too fast and not listen enough are not welcome here anyway!

I guarantee that the Education Level in an Alabama or Georgia or Florida school is lightyears ahead of any Big City School! I am from a Public School in Missouri with almost a 100% graduation rate and the highest possible ratings in every category. In addition, it holds most of the state's athletic records, dozens of state titles, and it does so on a public school budget. The key is the outstanding community support level!

My brother is a Math Teacher in a high school. He couldn't stand the Miami school district because of the kids, administrators and parents, but in his current rural school, the kids are actually there to learn! When the kids don't perform, the parents and administrators actually do something about it! I know, I know it seems cruel and foreign to you Yankees, but instead of lowering standards, we teach about consequences.

Yes there IS parts of that state that has its ignorant folks, but in Alabama, its STATE-WIDE. I have had pet cats that I consider smarter than them in Alabama. And it was in Birmingham Alabama that I stayed, not out somewhere in the sticks or outskirts.

They should spend less time listening to dumb pastors down there and the church zombies, and open a school book instead. SERIOUSLY, they need education BAD!

I wouldn't quite call that statement racist as it was pointing out the truth. I mean sure the south has its ignit gun owners to, but they seem less likely to # you up for no real reason other than steal your #, but then again I don't have statistics to back that statement. If I had to choose between ghetto or hick country though I would probably go with the latter.

You really can not threaten the life of the president, or his family, or any government official for that matter, without generally receiving a visit from either the Secret Service or FBI. That's always been true, no matter who/ what political party is in power. There is a major difference in
discussing whether or not the administration is crazy, stupid ideas, etc, if that is the way you feel, and threatening or even discussing a plan to
assassinate them.

The majority of reports of these "visits" never receive any
publicity, and are done on a regular basis.
