Here's more from that article;

Boynton’s letter did not acknowledge or deny
prior use by Leprino Foods of polydimethylsiloxane
in manufacture of its “Pizza Cheese.” Based upon
what further information The Milkweed has gleaned
about polydimethylsiloxane, it is good that Leprino
Foods is not presently using that chemical in its “Pizza
Cheese”. (See accompanying article.)
Thus, we may conclude that Pizza Hut’s “Pizza
Cheese” has been cleaned up.
Therefore, any consumer concerns about
polydimethyl-siloxane in foods should not be directed
at Pizza Hut. Instead, concerns should be directed at
the FDA, which has approved use of that chemical in
food.

Wow, The FDA isn't doing it's job? :gasp:

Soon they will call foam cheese and it will be fine again.
We gotta stay optimistic, right?
It's like too much fluoride in water can only be good, right?

Well I've been using Pizza Hut pizzas as stained glass windows

for years .... bit greasy though !

and it looks like Polydimethylsiloxane could be a cure for rabies ...

and angry G-men!

I just hope they don't release it into the surf. Can't do without that

Its no surprise really, after all if its a chain then its mass produced. Would be nice to think all its mozzarella rolled in from Italy in a wooden crate. I would like them to check for drugs in the pizza bases, because that bread (a bit like Subways) has a taste and smell all of its own.

Anyway true or not, you know Pizza hut is bad for you regardless of its cheese, it is pizza after all.

Agreed. However; pizza can be healthy if you make it home.
The secret is raw, organic cheese.
It has to be raw.
The one thing K Trudeau got right is that the pasteurization process makes deadly cheese.
One needs raw cheese, to keep one's arteries clean , padwan

Pizza Hut and Domino's are hot garbage anyways. Some of the worst pie I ever had. Not THE worst, mind you, but bad. So bad, that I will never eat at either ever again. That was before reading this article. I just don't understand how people can eat that swill. I make better stuff at home, cheaper, and with more toppings. My aunt does it on the cheap with flour tortilla shells and more toppings that you can shake a stick at, absolutely killer stuff. You wind up with a cracker-like crust and pure flavor.

I've not had a good pizza in about 20 years. The last time was a place in Denton called "the flying tomato".

It was exsquisite. A deep dish with tons of cheese.

All hand made. It was beautiful if not orgasmic.

As a kid, we went to a place near white rock lake in dallas.

Shotgun Sams.

the last chain that had descent pizza was Godfathers. It was nice.

Mmmmmm. there was something about the toasty cheese in the old days.

CiCi's (when it was a hole in the wall in an old Dairy Queen building) was pretty good.

Now everyone gets it from a can. bloody shame!

I'm still searching for a good pizza near dallas.

anyone got a heads up for me? Not a chain please.

Chrono, might you have further details to that recipe?
That you could share?
Being on topic of course.

not just cheese, it's silicone!

A lot of things that appear to be cheese are not cheese. Next time you're at the grocery store, check out the sliced cheese section and notice how many claim to be not "cheese," but "cheese product."

Cheese is a very specific thing. Many types of cheeses takes years to make. If it's produced within a few hours in a mold, it's probably not cheese.

Not neccesarily. What do you think "natural" means? Arsenic, lead, sulphur, silicon...these are all perfectly "natural" things. Or by natural do you think they mean "unprocessed?" But...isn't cooking an "unnatural process?" There's a lot of room for interpretation.

In California people pay extra for silicone...

No, seriously, there is a lot of disinformation on the web. No sense posting nonsense here. I trust Pizza Hut would not do such a thing....

They are owned by Coca-Cola, as I understand.

Actually, we get sick consistently at Taco Bell...not at Pizza Hut. I don't know what the he-- Taco Bell is doing, but I and many I know can trace their sickness there.

Then there was the time I did a drive through at Jack in the Box and the hamburger I got had a used kleenex with snot on it wrapped inside the burger so that you ate the burger before finding the kleenex.

Then there was the foot long hair I got in a Wendy's salad.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think teenagers cannot always be trusted with running a restaurant?

Yeah agree it can be healthy, if done in the right way, but freshly made pizza with all the right ingredients is something we'll not be seeing in chain resturants for some time. Even in the places where they do the propper italian style pizzas they charge more than its worth. Pizza making is simple, they are cutting corners that don't need cutting. Surely you can make a healthy fresh pizza for around three quid?

I have always heard of people referring to the cheese as rubber. Now that the added ingredient is found out to be silicone, it is ironic in a way, because rubber would be more of a natural ingredient than silicone.

That's funny. You're right.
But it's unfair business.
You might need more of a mind to understand it.
