I answered them. Albeit not in the way you or he would like. But then again you're not required to. As for whether or not I am "credible" to you is the least of my concerns. What I believe or don't believe is immaterial to the conversation, only those who sink to ad hom argument in a shallow attempt to seem right to themselves would pretend otherwise.

Now you are getting pathetic, throwing insult after insult because you cannot win a debate without intimidation.

NOTE TO MODS: this thread is descending into a pathetic insult tirade that brings down the integrity of the site, including use of the "f" word, i have made a complaint and request that this thread be closed and the op reprimanded.

Nice try. Not happening though. I prefer to keep my particular shade of belief *it's all belief despite the rhetoric contrary, be it Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, agnostic, etc etc etc etc* ambigious thank you very much.

So, do you actually have an opinion upon the thread topic why "Why doesn't god heal amputees?"

If you think that the OP is incorrect in his assumption that god does not heal amputees care to indulge us why you think your god does

Do you think your god

Does

doesn't?

Can't

Won't

sometimes ?

will in the future ?

has but no one has noticed ?

Anything else I've missed.

Or do simply not know ?

It's a illogical variant of an illogical argument. That illogical argument being "If "god" exists why does he/she/it allow suffering?". And I see your going to jump on the assumption bandwagon with buddyboy there eh?

Perhaps you should read up on critical thinking link I provided as well.

Everytime we start getting back on topic OP shows up with another punch and run.

Yeah the OP of my response stated xtians are getting hated on since they have gone up against gays. Why would he mention gays out of the blue? I'm quite confident I know why. And if ATS shuts down this thread it proves once more that the religious right owns this website.. they do this to every single thread which is critical of their beliefs.. either spend days derailing it or have it locked. Maybe you should leave the thread if free and open discussion offends you?

What F word are you talking about the guy typed F***G I take that to mean fag which is either slang for cigarette or short fro fagot.

In the context that the guy wrote I take it he was meaning fag in some often used a derisory tom for gay, which often means happy but sometimes taken as a derisory term for homosexual.

Nevertheless the dude was not deriding homosexuals as far as I cans see, and I think your somewhat overreacting, please get a grip.

Asking the mods to shut down a thread because you don't like it is terribly silly all you got to do is not respond. Going around stamping your feet and throwing your toys in the dirt will not make the "why doesn't go heal amputees" question go away.

There has been no hate or malice intend at you or anyone else in this thread, if you cant handle a few questions in type may I suggest you never try evangelizing.

NOTE TO MODS: some people in this thread have been called out for not answering questions and trying to derail the thread. Some even called out for bigotry and rightly so. They want this thread shut down because not a single one of them can answer the original post. Talk about a conspiracy. This is a big test right here.. does the religious right own ATS? We shall see.

You do realize that many religions have had their form of crusades, rather than just the Christians?

Just pointing it out. I'm Pagan.

Dude, I watched my dad die a very slow agonizing death from cancer, believe me when I say this . I'm truly shocked that anyone would suggest I could possibly think this way .

Everything I said was perfectly legit in keeping pace with my end of the debate which seems to go a lot smoother without the OP.

What the hell you sure know how to over react. What we can't mention Gays in a religeous forum.
So far you are the only one getting upset.

Do you guys think I should start these threads???

Why won't God give me a Ferarri?

Why won't God give me a smaller nose?

and

God hates us all and doesn't exist because he won't give us free Pepsi

or is it too similar to this one?

Open discusion has rules and etiquet that are in place so that the issues can be debated without intimidation, name calling, and the the integrity of the debate descending into childish behaviour.

As to your quip about gays, yes i too have a problem with the hypocritical stance that SOME, NOT ALL christians have, considering some of these people who aspout such hatred have more than once commited adultery, fornication with ther own church members or work colleagues which is equally as much as a sin in G-ds eyes as homosexuality is.

However to reiterate, if you make a thread, sometimes you have to moderate it yourself so that the subject is discussed fairly and openly, and also that you stay on your own topic, which you seem to have moved away from yourself with that gay comment.
Name calling and insults are clearly unacceptable, so do you want inteligent debate? Or do you want to stay in the playground?

For obvious reasons, I cannot personally vouch for the absolute veracity of this story.
But anyone dismissing it a priori, just because it didn't happen in front of CNN cameras, may find this a good opportunity to reexamine their beliefs about the nature of reality in general...
In other words, if somebody tells you this story and you reject it... wouldn't that be a good opportunity to ask yourself WHY?

As for me, I have heard - and seen - things that transcend by far the boundaries of the "reality" discussed on public forums like this one.

P.S. I have retested the link, and it doesn't seem to work anymore.
But I am sure anyone genuinely interested in this story will find it somewhere else.

Simple answer to the original question.

Why won't God heal amputees?

Because no one who prays for the amputee actually believes it's going to work.

You cannot question faith. You either have it, or you don't. There is no grey area. You don't "kind of" go to "Heaven." You don't "slightly" burn in Hell.

The majority of faith-haters may never even realize what is really going on. You cannot understand Faith until you've felt it.

And always keep in mind...:
Nothing exists. Something came from Nothing. What is Something? Everything.

What the hell dude ?

You entered into a thread titled "Why doesn't god heal amputees "

You either have an opinion on the question or you don't, if you do care to share it ?

If you don't what is the purpose of your posting ?

Well seems like the best response so far IMHO.

So then, regardless of whether the jesus yahweh god was real or not, do you think that the verses "Whatever you as -- knowing it shall be done and such" could possibly be alluding to the quantum world, in that the observer effects the experiment ?

I KNOW THAT!! That is not what i wasx refering to.. What i was refering to was the way the thread had stated to turn a bit nasty with insults.

The "f" word was used in its fullest in earlier posts but it seems that it was removed.

These type of threads/questions would be better if the persons posing the questions had a basic knowledge of "Christian" dogma and/or doctrine as well as knowledge pertaining to various branches within the religion and how they differ. Now assuming the god of the bible exists (notice I didn't say god of the Christians), could it be argued that the reason why amputees are not healed is due to no longer being involved in the welfare of humans? This is why I previously asked about deism, for if the god of the bible is no longer active in the affairs of mankind, this would be a logical reason as to why those with severed limbs aren't restored. Now, you can argue that "Jesus said ..." but then you have to entertain the thought that who he was addressing, and the claims he made about believing, may have only been applicable to the people of that time. You have many Christian sects that do not believe in miracle working today and base it on their interpretation of the scriptures.

In closing, the topic is very broad, generalized and should be specific as to which christians are being addressed. In addition, what does the bible say about the purpose of miracles?
