When I was in the 8th grade, we had a field trip to Springfield, to see the State Capitol. We went into the building, and saw the court. There was not as many people as I would have thought. My classmates and I saw these politicians vote multiple times. We asked our teacher, "Are they allowed to do this?" she said it wasn't against the law, but they weren't suppose to do it. I've always thought about this.

I work for the/a state where I work at the particular rules of computer use are monitored to the point they keep a log, track what site, time, length of time and whom was working when the infraction occured.

They do this to single out the culprit and then nail them to the wall. The same people that placed all of this in place are the ones doing the most of it. My area stays away from the computers except for work while our representatives abuse the policy with no repercussions because it is their policy.

Private businesses not my concern what they they do.

There is nothing wrong with this so long as you do the same thing at work. How many of you play solitaire or surf the net on Company Time?

To my district

I wished to address the photo circulating around on the internet of me playing solitare while sitting in congress. I wanted to state for the fact that I won that game at the end of 3 minutes, a personal record.

I have heard there was some concerned about me playing solitare and I have heard your complaints. I also am concerned about these actions and therefore requested the funding to purchase Age Of Conan. I want to let my people know that while endless discussions about things I already have made my mind up goes on and the other side spends their several hours complaining, I will be pwning.

Incidently, I have also requested all of congress take some moments every morning to look at lolcats so that we start off with a chuckle, and we migrate all of our discussions to net jargon and l33t speak so the younger generation becomes interested in politics.

Here is the problem. Deep deep inside most of you are still tilting your head to the side with that dreamy eyed look, koooing how wonderful the US of A is. How much better it is than all the rest and if you dont like it leave.

Programming, Preprogramming. reprogramming. We get it from our peers (societal) and our military, Intel agencies (media) and it is hardwired into our DnA believe it or not.

So please do not pretend to be concerned about these sort of things.

Exactly! I further postulated, in my mind...How many read and post to ATS threads, while seated at a monitor owned by their employer to do work for the company that provides them employment and a paycheck? I've actually saw posts that mention this activity in the post itsself!

This does not excuse the public servant's behavior. Freeloaders are freeloaders, wherever they plant their posterior. They all make our productivity deminished when measured on a global basis. This type behavior amongst company employees also encourages TPTB within those companies to consider "outsourcing" jobs to overseas locals eager to actually work for a living.

Bottom line... If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones!

NOTE: The aforementioned comments were presented by a retired bloke with lotsa time on his hands and sadly to say, memories of his own freeloading escapades.

It never dismays me seeing how our elected officials perform their elected duties; especially when it comes to their voting. It seems very odd that they would enact laws to govern and curb these types of abuses; and then, so casually abuse them. I am in favor of just voting all of them, incumbent Democrats or Republicans, out of their respected offices.

Full of crap and should be changed often.

This doesn't concern me. I find playing Solitaire helps me focus. I play it often when listening to YouTube interviews, Coast to Coast shows, etc. and it helps my mind keep from wondering.

I do computer support and training for law firms and know one attorney who plays Solitaire while talking to clients on the phone. He said the same thing. It helps keep him focused. Also, while I was doing a training class, I had an attorney play Solitaire. When I saw him, he apologized, but said it helped him stay focused on what I was saying.

Does anyone remember that George Bush spent most of his time on vacation even though we were fighting 2 wars that *he* started? And the economy is HIS fault... So stop blaming other officials for having some leisure time because they deserve some rest from the mess they were left to clean.

I see the problem right away as you look at these pictures. It’s a pretty disturbing and shocking one too!

As you look around the House floor you will notice the stark absence of many important things as follows:

1. No Jacuzzis!
2. No Buffet Bars
3. No Liquor Bars
4. No Putting Greens
5. No Orchestra
6. No Scantily Clad Cocktail Waitresses
7. No Masseuses and or Massage Tables
8. No Billiard Tables
9. No Poker Tables

These people are being force to work in primitive and cramped conditions devoid of the quality appointments, accessories, accoutrements and other important things to make the work environment pleasant.

I know I myself won’t work in an environment lacking all the above mentioned civilized things. Yet we force our elected officials to labor in these tawdry unseemly primitive conditions like we are 11 trillion dollars in debt or something instead of the wealthiest nation on earth.

This is shocking and heart wrenching to see and all I can do is suggest that if the people of this nation refuse to provide a suitable and healthy work environment for these hard working underpaid individuals they need to unionize and fight for their right for an appropriate work environment.

I think based on the fact that they haven’t and they do labor in these deplorable conditions speaks to their charitable, selfless, and benevolent, well intentioned nature.

I had no idea that their working conditions were this abysmal I am overcome with shame. This simply falls tragically short of any known and accepted standard of comfort and civilization.

These are the people who have the finest free health care coverage on Earth.

These are the folks who decide FOR you about matters you don't even get to know about.

Sadly, all this expose will do is foster the creation of new house rules banning photography while they "work."

No one should be too surprised, unless they received the 'standard' education; in which case, they probably don't care and would rather deflect the matter back onto those of us who 'abuse' our 'freedoms' at our 'employers' place of business.

Interesting, had I been an obedient and diligent consumer/employee, I would never had known of this.... irony?..... not at all.....

Are you kidding me? Their interns are probably doing the same thing in these elected officials offices!!! They could even be searching for used cars, be on craigslist looking for who knows what or on porn sites for pete's sake!!!

This is why WE can ignore EVERY law these idiots claim to have passed. It is obviously done illegally and fraudulently like in the video, just look at the 14th and 16th Amendments, both NOT ratified by the full 2/3rds or 3/4ths Congress, so pissed I can't remember which one it is!!

I have seen another news cast from the Illinois and Indiana House with the same thing happening and basically the same excuses made. 'We don't get a lunch break'??? Give me a break. If my brakes go out, can I have my neighbor cast my vote? It's always nice when elected officials from other districts represent our interests (not). I guess we only really need 3 or 4 representatives then, so why are we spending all the extra money paying the other representative's salaries? There is their answer to the budget problem.
