That's the attitude that everybody should adopt. Not "Yer gonna sail off the side of the world, dude!" — which is fear-mongering — but we should be offering constructive advice and real solutions in real-time.

That's the difference between the survivors and the hysterical masses. The hysterical masses are being consoled with false words and false assurances from our false leadership, and the masses tend to believe the lies that emanate from on-high.

The survivors are those who suspect (with good reason) that everything our government and media are telling us is FALSE and DIVISIVE. I mean, if you can just keep it in your mind that EVERYTHING you are hearing from the government and news media is a LIE, then you can begin to organize a plan for survival.

Survival outside of the network, off the grid, under the radar, and all those other euphemisms for independence.

I mean, I just proceed in my life as though the government is not there for me. I do not leave my property in the government's hands — in fact, I do the hard research to make certain that the government never gets its hands on my property. I have no intention of ever filing for Social Security benefits, because Social Security is a ridiculously flawed and failed program. That's not my money, it belongs to other people. It's been stolen from other people for decades.

The point is, you have to Get It In Your Head that you and you alone are the captain of your ship, okay? It starts with personal responsibility, taking care of business, establishing your own private health care plan — not buying into this load of crap and tangle of lies from the U.S. Congress.

Tough Love Time...

Congress

Does Not Care

About You.

Have you got that through your head? Those people in Congress are proceeding in their own interest, and they're only interested in expanding their power, their control, over every aspect of your life.

We can fight this. We can refuse to be controlled. See, the power structure is upside-down here... The MASSES of humanity are supposed to hold the reins of government. WE are supposed to tell THEM (our elected officials) what to do, where to go, what to think, what to say, how to behave, and how to represent us. That's a Democratic Republic, right? Oh yes it is — in theory.

Bitch, would someone please tell me WHEN the reins of power were handed to a tiny handful of obnoxious malcontents in Washington, DC..? Because that's not the way America is supposed to work. THEY are not supposed to beat US over the head, okay? It's the other way around!

Now, you can tell I'm passionate about America. I don't give a dick for these shallow socialist junior senator hacks who are trying to buy our hearts and minds with a PowerPoint presentation, okay. Because that is what they're doing. These inexperienced, idealistic clowns are entering government, LYING to the public, conjuring goddamned genies out of lamps, and they're smiling and blowing kisses...Yah, I just saved the economy, yah, let's do lunch

No. You Did Not

Save The Economy.

That was a magazine headline... You idiot.

I mean, these flippant bastards in Washington DC proceed as though they are champions of "Change," right? They're ramming all of this very scary shîte into law on the fast track NOT because they want to "hide the details from the public," but because they're closing up the holes in their own personal escape plans!

And they've gotta do it before the August break, right. Which may give you a reliable timeline for shîte hitting the fan.

ITALY for me, since I have family there, and a place to stay...always! It's all about feeling welcomed and cost!

Ok, no jobs, car about to die. I came here to help my sister and sold my business to save her home.

I live 11 miles out and even thought we have been here a year, I have never lived anywhere that was so hard to connect with others.
I home school and even when we reached out they stayed at arms length and then summer came and they vanished.

I come here to connect as it is one of a few places of like minded thinkers.

But my point is that many of us will not have a choice. I have a nine year old still at home, with my car about to die and no funds to buy anything else, I am strapped.

So we can go by foot, but where? Into the desert?

Like so many things, it is easy to say, i will do this or that, for those with a lot of green paper, not a problem. But for millions of us, without green paper we have nothing, right where they want us.

So your words are good, but reality snuffs them out.

Spiritwomyn - don't give up. Ever. You give up after you're dead, and not one second before.

Strapped? Because you don't have gazillions of dollars there's nothing you can do? Not all survival approaches require shootloads of money - just your physical labour.

Baby steps survival.

1. Get some chooks and have your own eggs. Sell or barter the excess.
2. See if you can obtain self sufficiency in vegetables at the very least and dehydrate and store the excess. Check out diy aquaponics (google barrelponics) system that requires only half the amount of water that you would use on a regular garden.
3. Start a composting toilet. Yep, it sounds quite chunky, but your poo really doesn't stink! Even in a desert, with this brown gold, you can create a wonderful life supporting garden that requires minimal effort.
4. Start digging a hole - at the very least you can start preparing an underground shelter, and at the worst you have created a small pond or dam for fish growing, which can be covered over to protect its contents and minimise evaporation.

A great site for diy underground shelters

corrugated steel culvert shelter

That site is one from utah shelter systems specifically for those who would like to build their own, using their principles. You'd be amazed what you can pick up from evilbay or the sort of tanks/storage silos that are available in rural areas. Even if it's not perfect, it's a start. Just overcoming that initial inertia and starting the process is almost as good as having a completed insitu survival plan.

As to those who would leave the US? I say this from the relative security and safety of a tiny town in outback Australia, but my perception of your country is that it is just too damn big, and the residents just too damn ornery and cranky to ever fail! You blokes have a wonderful chauvinistic pride in your country that occasionally drives others wild, but lordy, I envy you your drive and your passion. Sure, you've got your problems - who hasn't? But I think that as long as just one person makes an effort to put things right, then the entire country is spared for just that little bit longer. If a whole lot of you cranky baskets decides to make a difference, then god help the sods who created the problem in the first place.

Get cracking spiritwomyn and all those who feel that they can't make a difference, either to their own survival or to the benefit of their country! It's all in your head and in determination to make a difference! (And of course, it requires sweat!)

You have friends on ATS that are not really that far away.....just sayin'.
All you need is borrow a shovel and locate some seeds for one way to start.
I know it is hard. Use your fear as motivation to better your situation.
Buy one extra can of food a week if thats all you can do.
Look for free stuff lying around. One persons junk is anothers treasure.
Amazing what you find in the trash. Alot of people throw something away
when a little bit of fixing would make it almost as good as new!
If you see a big garden or vacant land, stop and ask if you can help in
exchange for some space and tools to use for a garden.
There is always a way if you look hard enough.
Find old pallets, cut them up and make birdhouses to sell while in town.
Whatever it takes. I have alot of ideas and help if you need it, just u2u me.
Peace and love 2 U!

Thats Doc!
I had a nice post all made up and I bumped the key and deleted it!

Just wanted to say thanks and you basically echoed my thoughts!
BTW, how is your round garden working out? Sure is a beautifull setup!

Take care of yourself and your families everyone.
Don't rely on anyone. Be fiercely independant!
Even if you live in an apartment sart growing indoors in pots.
You will be learning how until you can maybe find someone with room to spare in their garden or something.
Alot of times if you just ask, people will give you some produce,
or space to grow your own in exchange for help weeding, watering, etc!
Where theres a will, theres a way!

Amen brother. I'm staying put here in Idaho or Montana. Without having to worry about the Washington/Wall Street complex, life would be a lot better.

Hopefully if that were to ever happen, everyone who wants a free ride will migrate somewhere else and leave it to the productive half of society to rebuild our nation.

Unless the land is blighted / poisoned and nothing can grow I see no need to leave.

As of right now, the productive 'half' is being black-balled by the 'other' half, as domestic terrorists, because they are beginning to wake up to the hugh scam that steals over 75% of their income.
The Bible, even if you don't believe it many do, says that in this time the most powerful and richest CITY will be destroyed by fire, in one hour. Many think this is Amerika, but some believe it is New York city, or Washington, D.C. In any event, I believe the Bible, based on it's incredible accuracy for predictions over the centuries. Personally, I don't want to be here to find out if it is the city, or the country. I plan on Ecuador as soon as I have the money.
For those remaining, I hope it really is just a city. But suggestion; go to Texas and buy a large caliber gun at a gun show. No trace to come to your door. Perfectly legal, and I would always follow the law to the letter. Reason then? Primarily as a defense from a despotic government, according to one James Madison. 44 or 45 goes right thru any flac jackets, and will seize an engine immediately. I don't have one, but ifn I end up here when MORE shtf, I would enjoy an 'open carry'. A citizen can carry a weapon in plain site, on is person, unloaded. He will be stopped and searched by the gangbangers in blue, violating the Bill of Rights, but I would just point that out and comply. You CAN carry the ammo, right next to it, in plain site. Just not loaded. So if one of these frequent events with a loonie killing anyone in site happens, you would not be too worried about keeping that gun unloaded. This country NEEDS some chutzpa to start shooting back. At the loonies, and then possibly the facists pretending to represent all those 'domestic terrorists'.

I live 11 miles out of town, my car is dead, I have tried to reach out but the people here are not open and friendly, no friends and we have been here for over a year.

I have some camping gear but I also have a nine year old with seizure disorder.
And yes I need help, a truck, map, good compass and a community that has like minded people.

I do help, I have given to past communities as firefighter, Victim Advocate with the Sheriffs office, and I give money to people when ever I can who are less off then me. I gave my business to save my sisters house.
So I should not feel I am less for asking for help. Even Jesus said ASK.

(Matthew 5:42) the least read and obeyed edict from Christ.

Well, if other countries are as friendly towards immigrants as Americans than I guess US citizens have to stick it out within the borders of the US......

Our Government is More than Friendly to illegals, which is why so many Americans are Not.
Examples,
What I ran across while researching a possible move to another Country.

U.S. Social Security :
Your Payments While You Are Outside The United States
If you are not a U.S. citizen or a citizen of one of the other countries listed above, your payments will stop after you have been outside the United States for six full calendar months.

If you are not a U.S. citizen your payments will stop after you have been outside the United States. for six full months.
Once this happens, your payments cannot be started again until you come back and stay in the United States for a whole calendar month.
You have to be in the United States on the first minute of the first day of a month and stay through the last minute of the last day of that month.
In addition, you may be required to prove that you have been lawfully present in the United States for the full calendar month.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household.

Among the largest costs are Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion).
