The fact that a business unjustifiably took and kept her money changes this story for me.

It's not like she called 911 simply because McDonald's was out of Chicken McNuggets.

She (not very brightly) assumed she was reporting a crime after they refused to return her money.

Ridiculing this woman really only makes it easier for people to steel under the guise of calling it "business".

Wait!!! Wasn't that the problem that led to our current financial crisis?

Thought so.

Never mind... Too late... Carry on.

Oh that's Rich

They should have special cops at Mc Donalds to deal with the occasional imbecile that comes in there

A Big Clown with a Sheriffs badge and a Giant Purple Guy that acts as his back up...

I'd love to see this Lady dragged out in Cuffs by Grimace

and what the heck does she expect

The guy waiting on her is the friggin Hamburgler

True, true... they don't have the right to steal

BUT

Many stores have no return policies etc, etc... don't actually agree with that, But... and I might be wrong, did they Not offer her something else?

I mean... as backwards as not giving her her money back is...

walking off and not getting food and demanding your money back like a little child after, you know lol, they happened to run out of Mc Nuggets, is a bit nutty... kind of beyond

They always screw stuff up at fast food places, that's why they are cheep and the food sucks, I don't expect much on the rare road trip when i'm forced to eat that sick stuff

I mean really "sorry sir we don't have your Mc Crap"

"okay says I, give me the other Mc crap"

How much was this lady looking forward to that Mc nugget for the love of g-d

I mean, she's a walking comedy routine this lady, I want to run a stand up show based entirely around this incident

That analogy doesn't work. She wasn't given the Chicken McNuggets only to attempt to return them later.

I guess the next time you go to buy a business tie, it's ok if they take and keep your money as long as they offer you a thong.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd have a problem with that.

Honestly, this woman is a hero and a revolutionary

Why shouldn't you have something like an consumer protection agency with a 3 digit number to call? Like 511 or something

I mean why not?

EMERGENCY.. they are stilling my money with bailouts and overspending packages!!!

life is insane we need protection!!!

and we could pay this agency with our taxes, which will reduce war!!!!

Why is this on ATS?

Because Mc Donalds is probably one of the biggest real conspracies going to date against the American People

Doctors have come forward and people have offered that they add ADDICTIVE chemicals to the food to make you crave it, yet they provide zero nutritional value, they sponsor the Olympics and kids watching Athletes being inspired run out and ruin their dreams by never being told it's saw dust soy, hooves and greese what meat there is is taken from the worlds most retarded farm animals, from the worst possible farms, is probably laden with various Prions and will condemn them to Alzheimers in later years of life

The animals are packed together and stand in their own #e all day and are fed parts of each other to each other

It's like the Matrix for cows

This is a woman who... probably thinks Grape Drink is a good choice for breakfast for her kids and then calls up the school to complain "her kids ain't getin an EDUMACASHON"

I think you call the cops over 1.99, and take 911 away from people who need it... they should have a right to put you down when they arrive...for good.

Same type of imbecile who believes Socialism is a good idea because they are too stupid to function and expect to take part of my hard work for themselves..

I HATE people like this with a passion,

She needs to take her Kool aid and chicken Mc Nuggets and go wait in line at the emergency room for a brain scan and not sue Mc Donalds for hot coffee or call 911 for 1.99...

and the kid who wouldn't give her her Mc Nugget money back...

For even obeying that order while his equally retarded boss watched... He is kid just waiting for his Darwin Award anyway in life, so screw him too

Every single person involved in this BELONGS at Mc Donalds

so long as they lock the frackin door and fence the place in once they are inside...

They will have a blast pouring sugar water down their throats and going on the slide all day in between punching each other in the arm and quoting TV Commercials as their sole source of a sense of humor

THANK YOU!

I agree wholeheartedly. And let me add to this by stating my reason as to why I placed this thread on ATS? Because I was counting on reading a post left by someone that says something to the effect of "you think it's okay for corporations to steal from Americans? shame on you..." etc etc.

Somehow I get a really big kick out of reading stuff like that.

Things like clothes and houses are LONG-TERM investments. Okay? You're comparing apples and oranges. The only 'long-term' investment that you would be making when paying for products such as McDonald's hamburgers and chicken nuggets?--is obesity and high cholesterol. Not to mention a shorter life-span.

AND...

...nine times out of ten the average consumer who is making the purchase of a specific product is going to make DAMN-WELL-SURE that the product is in stock--BEFORE they hand over their MONEY!!! Unlike this imbecile who most likely forked over the money anyways, thinking that showing the clerk some money is going to somehow magically replenish the restaurant's stock of chicken nuggets. Not to mention that it is approximately 85% likely that she got lippy with the clerk before and after fact.

It's all common sense. But I guess common sense isn't so 'common' anymore now is it?

Listen, people. McDonald's is a business, just like any ma and pa joint. The owners and employees have to make money, so they have a line of rules to follow for complaints, in order to maximize profits.

The "victim"/"perpetrator" in question did not make it past the first line of defense without calling the police, a 911 emergency call, nonetheless.

I promise you that she would have got her money back if she persisted with management. This is how things work. Matter of fact, it's smaller businesses that usually have the worse return policies; corporations are known to refund for almost anything, such as WalMart.

Some of you make it seem like the lady was going to really be ripped off for the money ... no, I'm sorry, doesn't work like that. The cashier was doing his/her job by offering an alternative, thus maximizing profits.

This is very true. Kinda like the "Soup Nazi" in the show Seinfeld. That episode was legendary by the way.

Did anyone notice , I think the 911 operator said the callers cell number ! I wonder if she's getting calls on how and why she called 911 and all kind of crank calls.

I’m’ sure I heard her (911 operator) repeat the callers cell number on tape # 1, 88 something. near the end. I bet the 911 center left the number their purpose so the caller can experience her own personal MC Nugget hell.. Her phone is going to be ringing off the hook.

The title of this thread is totally misleading!

The poor woman and McDonalds entered into 'CONTRACT' when she placed the order through verbal and written agreement and McDonalds took the money.

Whether it is CHICKEN NUGGETS, or GAS TURBINE ENGINES it doesn't matter. McDonald's violated terms of the contract and refused to give the money back but instead offered something else [WITHOUT OPTION OF REFUND].

Any sane person should get upset if someone violates a contract and continues their 'power trip' by persisting.

Imagine if you went to buy a Mercedes car, you paid for it but the dealer supplied you with a Daewoo without option of refund. I know the cost between nuggets and cars if different but some honest people see principles of things as opposed to value.

The collectively demonised her probably because she got 'upset' and as we know there are plenty of cops that 'get off' dealing with such people (see YouTube).

Many many people would also think of calling the Police because what had happened could also be seen as 'theft' through 'deception'.

Imagine if you go into a shop to buy some nice sneakers and they give you sandals and refuse to give your hard earned money back. I'm telling you, you will perceive it as ;'theft' and may contemplate calling the police. Furthermore, the woman HERSELF called the police as a means of moderation and facilitating the dispute. Instead the Police arrest her.

What is the world coming to?!

I find it hilarious and sad how a misleading thread title results in people commenting that the woman is mad, laughing at her, mocking her. That my friends is a great example of 'brainwashing' and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Fantastic posting.

It is just a pity that only a few think like you. Have a great day.

Greetings

PS: I did not shorten anything and quoted you entirely. It is a rare bird to read so much common sense in one posting.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU TOO!

Some of the replies on this thread are so brainwashed, mindless nonsense that it really scares me that when TSHTF economy wise the Government and Bankers WILL NOT be the only thing to worry about!

The woman is a hero, she did the right thing, a woman of principles not value, theft is an emergency, she has emotions and those that did wrong to her will burn in hell!!

She could have walked away but she didn't and I'm sure it wasn't for the $1.50 but for what is -right-.

Bankers are absolutely stealing all the money from you right now and most do nothing.

She is a hero.

I haven't read the story, just heard the tape in the back ground. So I don't know if this has been asked or answered.

Did she pay with a check card? If she did then it would take 3-5 days to get a refund back and to be honest she didn't sound like she was an A+ student. So maybe she paid with a check card and demanded cash back? That will not happen.

I think she misunderstood and is now looking like an idiot.

I agree with you!

I actually heard the full story last night and was disheartened that the media (and people on ATS) are making this sound like she called 911 because McDonald's was out of McNuggets. That's just sensationalism and while I expect that from Keith Olbermann (who also made fun of her), I don't like hearing that crap from people on ATS who are supposed to think critically and get the truth before making judgments. Oh, well...

She called the police because someone stole her money. 911 was the wrong number to dial and once should have been enough, but she didn't call 911 because they were out of McNuggets.

:shk:

Edit: Now that I'm skimming the thread, I see I'm not the only one who feels this way. You guys made my day.

There is an update to this story. McDonalds corporate office has decided to apologize to this woman, offer her a refund and a coupon for free chicken McNuggets if she chooses to return to the business.

Djinnibaba, what you said was correct except that 911 is for emergency calls. This woman should have used the non emergency number to report this.

The problem with people using the emergency system to report petty criminal behavior is that it takes away resources from people who truly need this system. Lives can be lost due to the police having to go to a McNuggets type complaint versus a shootout.

Besides the fact that this is a civil complaint not a criminal complaint. If offended she should have talked to the manager, called customer service, if all else fails, sue McDonalds in court.

I love the fact so many people are trying to defend her and i think they are just as stupid as her. Someone could have been dying and needed help but no her "chicken nuggets are an emergency".

I disagree.

Police call centres prioritise and schedule accordingly. Even if they send an officer to the scene he can be called away at any point to a more higher priority issue.

Also, most people in the US don't even know where UK is on the map. How can you expect them to distinguish what is an 'emergency'? Blatant 'theft' is an emergency in most people's eyes ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU. What I'm trying to say is her calling the police was perfectly understandable. Furthermore, the police could have referred her to a more appropriate place (if one exists) so she wouldn't have to call be over and feel abandoned.

There is a trend that police are not that interested in petty theft, only when it suits them though (hint hint).

Watch this:

Not all are bad, not all are good, most are bad though...human nature (people without morals) with all that power.
