I'd like to know whether square shadows are made more angular by deconvolution.
The raw image is here:
higginsandsons.com...

An article about how a high pass filter outperforms wavelet deconvolution:
www.digital-flight.com...
Will try this at home tonight.

Another plausible explanation is that this picture is a mosaic, so square shadows could be an artifact due to adjacent pictures being taken on different days.

great pics!

what i am curious about is in this pic, the big crater on the right, has 2 smaller craters on opposite sides of it's rim.

the smaller right, rim crater, looks like a strike, has messed up the rim etc.
where as the sharper defined opposite crater, on the left, just looks like a hole on the rim.

i can't figure out how this might occur without some obvious damage as with the right crater.
also there seems to be a few similar craters/holes scattered around.

Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere in the thread.

This "pyramid/spire" that I keep seeing pointed to as evidence is nothing but a trick of light.

Allow me to illustrate with my MSpaint skills. EDIT: Forgive my spelling of "produced."

Just press printscreen on your keyboard, then open up paint and paste into there, then you can edit and upload to imageshack. Great find btw! Still looking for the mound ...

Were you meaning this?

The area around it seems pretty interesting too! I don't know what the heck is producing that shadow which seems to be a tower!

Cheers!

Here's another one from the same image:

I wonder what's producing those shadows that make those objects look like tall structures?

Cheers!

Good stuff!
Here's what I found in one of those images. Looks like a tower!

But these images are nothing compared to the ones being sent by the Chandrayaan Moon probe.Check out the last few pages here...

Like this one...

Your direction of light is incorrect, if I may say so. The sun in this case is in the opposite direction to your yellow arrow. If you zoom out or check out the original image you'll see what I mean.

Cheers!

use "alt-prnt scrn". then paste it into something like mspaint.

Here's something interesting from LO-5. No filters have been used except 'unsharp mask'.

Notice the left of the vertical structure. Seems to have a thick edge! But there is no shadow cast by the spire that I can see. Also some strange formations at the base and around it that seem to be artificial.

Cheers!

Hi to Mike.. I have been around for a lot of years and have studied the Lunar mission Pictures ever since LO-5 and I have gotten pretty sharp in seeing what is real and what has been tampered with. And those black spikey things appear to have been painted in there to obscure and obfuscate artifacts that would normally be more obvious. These old black and white images are very hard to discern what you are really looking at.
After years of study I have learned to see through some of NASA's tricks at fooling the public and they are getting better at it all the time.
For the people who look and say "I don't see anything " I understand. You are not alone. It takes years of practice. I have studied pictures of the Lunar surface for days at a time, then put them aside for weeks or months only to take them out and see a lot more detail than I ever thought was there.

One of the most important factors in studying these pictures is (KEEP AN OPEN MIND).
A 75 year old in vestigator.
