Joining ATS : wierd phone calls, IPs outside your house? wiretapping?

I think around the time I stopped being a lurker and joined ATS, I started to get weird phone calls from people who would hang up, they would linger, then hang up. Also started getting calls from people who wanted to talk to the business owner. I had to constantly tell these people, this is not a business phone number. They still kept calling, even after I said it was a residence. Then there were times when I called a particular phone number and a machine would say that number did not exist, or some stranger would pick up telling me I have the wrong number. I swear , I had to dial my computer technician's business card number 7 times before it actually went through. Somehow my calls were being re-directed to a different person's phone. Also, I'd get calls from people, and in the middle of the conversation a tap noise would go on, as if I was being recorded and then sometimes the dialog would start to sound like an echo. I noticed this has happened to George Nory on CoasttoCoastam, many times when talking with guests, the dialog becomes echoing and it sounds like they are in a spacious room where their voices bounce off the walls, even though that isn't really the case.

we're overbooked this time of the year. Normally, we start covert activities within 1 to 2 hours, but you flew under the radar for a whole 48!

People keep getting concerned with clicking. Yes there are phone taps, but typically clicking is just rerouting your call to the correct phone.

As far as echoing, its because of shoddy cell phone reception or crappy hardware.

Lol, I actually signed up here with a different account a while back. But for some reason my password stopped working on that one. I couldn't get in anymore, even when I tried to retrieve my account and get a new password. So this one is actually a new one, that I started a few days ago. I had to come back here and have my say. But I really have no clue why I couldn't log back in. I must have given a good piece of my mind in here with my last account. Somebody must have been afraid, of me.

Well, I' m talking about my house phone. My cell got de-activated a few months ago. But I think, with my last account, my cell phone did keep getting weird calls from a private number, but they would never say anything when I answered the call. I got pissed a few times and had to warn them, though the wimp still didn't say anything. I still wonder who the hell those people were.

I know I've had to retrieve a new password about every computer I've visited on. When I get a new password, I don't save it.

Yes, I could not contain myself. I think that Boulder M.D. thread got me wanting to defend the poor man. I could not believe people hacked him and posted his personal information on here. But that alone tells me, I run the risk of having that happen to me as well.

Ive gotten calls all the time lately from people or recordings, that call me, and ask about car insurance or home loans...i heard from a co-worker that people can now mask their numbers/ip addresses so when they call, they can have a different number displayed. I havent found any articles on this, but it makes sense, because when I call back, I have the same thing - number doesnt exist. Some are even 13 digits!

Yea, I've gotten things like that too. Sometimes people call for weird things like that and I tell them I'm a minor. I'm not, but I have a youthful voice.

I have got calls from online casinos that are in other countries yet they maske the number to make it look local. That really irks me.

I get wierd text messages on my cell phone in spanish.

I am going to throw out all my dairy products in my fridge. I left the house for 2 mnutes. I don't trust anyone!

No. This was 5 years ago. This is a well known chat number. It has absolutely nothing to do with it. I didn't even live at my current home. This was back 5 years ago. No way at all.Lived with a relative far way from this city back then.

Isnt that echo thingy because the person talking to the radio announcer (George Nory is ut) has their radio turned up while they are talking?
