I was just checking out some of the tunes ... not bad!

But are most people forgetting to put their personal spin on things ... Why that songs means something to them, or why it is their favorite?

I know at fist sight this reply will be frowned upon....but check 'Bullet for My Valentine- Hearts Burts Into Fire'. It tugs my strings without fail every time. My girlfriend hates Rock music but she cant stop listening to this song.

Please check it out, you will be pleasantly suprised

I would say it's either Henry Lee by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (a rather dark love song, mind)

Or... Famous Blue Raincoat, by Leonard Cohen.

Yes, I'm a cheery girl!

Since the high, tender road has been covered so well, I'll lean toward the carnal end of things.
Just met someone the other day that dropped the needle on this one in my head

AD I also associate songs with people....it's a curse really, because everytime I hear those songs, it drags up all those "feelings" I've had for people. BUT I've gotten better, I've decided I won't let someone else ruin the song for me, and so I'm trying not to "assign" each person a song...

Another couple songs I really like (or that make me think of people from my life):

"I go to the Barn because I like the" - Band of Horses

"Swans" - Unkle Bob
**The last 20 seconds is the BEST part of the whole song...when the Violins start playing, i come close to tears...the ending is just powerful.**

Edit to Add: For some reason the "Swans" video goes on for 3 minutes ish, the song is really only 2 minutes and like 30 seconds.

Cake - Satan is my Motor

I just like this song... the play of words is genius. I think of having fun in a relationship, being a little naughty too.

Jeff Buckley - That Was So Real

I think of a passionate, creative relationship. An experience that is burned into the mind, love that lasts.

Radiohead - House of Cards

I think of a man being open and honesty. The vulnerability of love and relationship. The honesty that puts a person on the line.

I cannot choose only one song right now, and I apologize. I will have to make 2 posts. The first song is "Hey Hey What Can I Do" by none other than Led Zeppelin.

This is one of my tops, because there have been times in my life (due to women) that this song gives me a feeling that makes me want to cry my eyes out, and times when it has made me feel like the happiest person in the world.

www.youtube.com...

Wanna tell you bout the girl I love.
My, she looks so fine
An shes the only one that Ive been dreamin of,
Maybe someday she will be all mine.
I wanna tell her that I love her so,
I thrill with her every touch,
I need to tell her shes the only one I really lo__ve.

I got a woman, wan ball all day.
I got a woman, she wont be true no.
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time.
I said I got a little woman and she wont be true.

On sunday mornin when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin in line.
Dont say they come to pray to the lord
But when my little girl looks so fine.
An in the evenin when the sun is sinkin low
Everybodys with the one they love.
I walk the town, keep-a searchin all around,
Lookin for my street corner girl.

I got a woman, wan ball all day yeah.
I got a woman, she wont be true no, no.
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time.
I said I got a little woman and she wont be true.

An in the bars with the men who play guitars,
Singin, drinkin and rememberin the time,
A-my little lover does a midnight shift,
She fool around-a all a the time.
I guess theres just one thing then left for me to do:
Gonna pack my bags an move on my way
A-cause I got a worried mind sharin what I thought was mine.
Gonna leave her where the guitars play.

I got a woman, she wont be true no, no.
I got a woman, wanna ball all day-yeah-yeah now, now.
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time.
I got a little woman and she wont be true.

Hey, hey what can I do?
I said she wont be true no. yeah-no, yeah-no,
Whoah-ho what can I say?
Yeah-no, yeah-no. [ ahhh__ ]

Hey, hey what can I do?
[ __hhh__ ] keep ballin, keep ballin, keep ballin,
keep ballin, keep ballin, keep ballin, keep ballin.
Whoah-ho what can I say?
[ __hhh. ] she wanna ball.

Hey, hey what can I do?
A-keep ballin, keep ballin, keep ballin, keep ballin,
 keep ballin yeah, yeah.
Whoah-ho what can I say?
A-boogie, a-boogie chillun. a-boogie, a-boogie chillun.

Hey, hey what can I do?
Hahh-yeah, ah-yeah, ah-yeah, ah-yeah.
Whoah-ho what can I say?
Hey, hey what can I do? I got a woman, she wont be true.

Hey, hey what can I do?
Ah-whoah~whoah~whoah hear what I say.
I got a woman, wanna ball all day.
Whoah-ho what can I say?
Keep ballin, keep ballin

Who__ahhh-ho-ho-ho-ho.
Hey, hey what can I do?

And the second....

This song is "3 Libras" by A Perfect Circle. I'll let the song speak for itself, as far as it's take on love, but I will say, that to me, the song was a self-discussion about what a person can take, and where they draw their lines.

www.youtube.com...

Threw you the obvious and you flew with it on your back,
A name in your recollection down among the millions there:
Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed,
And passed over
But I look right through see you naked but oblivious...
But you don't see me
But I threw you the obvious just to see if
There was more behind
The eyes of a fallen angel eyes of a tragedy
Here I am expecting just a little bit too much from the wounded
But I see, see through it all
See through
See you
Cause I threw you the obvious to see what occurs behind
The eyes of a fallen angel eyes of a tragedy oh well
Oh well apparently nothing apparently
Nothing at all
You don't see me
You don't see me at all

Mmm I really like...(and I know this is probably so cliche, but still - its one of my favorites).

Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
Verse 2

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
Chorus

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
Verse 3

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

Chorus

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
Chorus

I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

I like that song, its not cliche, that word is bred from competitiveness, which has no place in music IMHO.
