Ubuntu ei?
I looked it up, it looks like a really good alternative to windows without having to shell out for a mac.
Let me know what you think of it, I'm on a mac but I got a PC laptop for my birthday a couple of months back and I haven't even bothered taking it out of the box. Maybe I can salvage it.

The only reason to choose Windows over a Unix or Linux based system is for gaming basically. Mac Ten is officially Unix now

I use Fedora Core, another free open source Linux system. Ive never checked out Ubuntu before..hmm

Hell yeah. Wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu hehe

Actually you can partition the hard drive and have both Windows and Linux installed for a dual-boot system. Best of both Worlds I guess

Not satisfied with your Mac tho? I heart my Mac. It's impervious.

Good choice Ian, I have Ubuntu on my PS3, love it.

Sdog, if want some help installing Linux u2u me.

As for Macs, meh. Outside of graphics designs and media editing, it doesn't hold a candle to a PC dollar to dollar.

Sounds like a debate topic to me FSBA: "I'm a PC vs I'm a Mac"
We can bore everybody.

The candle is just way overpriced

That doesn't make Windows better then MacOSX
Just more reasonable.

I'm in the minority who actually likes Windows Vista alot. Then again I'm also one of the only people I know who has it and has the right tech specs to run it well. Though I wish someone would bother to port Garageband to Windows or Linux.

Linux == Communism.

I really enjoyed using a picture of Tux with a red-star shirt, in a recent debate:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

This link really helped my debate. And gave me a laugh:
geocities.com...

On the plus side, all the penguins in DATS are now staunch Communists.

Those damn commie penguins. And to think I have $500 of Sidney Crosby taking them to win it all!

The stars were aligning for that one, nice.

So by proxy, Windows == Democratic Republic?

That debate appeases my inner Chomsky! I'm gonna have to read all of it. Long live the free open source commie ideals and all its anarchistic glory
muahaha

I would say ATS is an example with its 'user-generated ecosystem', but one could say we have a moderate Republic here too

Is my "by proxy" in proper usage?

I think I might have butchered that one

I believe I used the term "corpse-bride of cryptofascist capitalism", so yes, in that context that would be correct.

Okay, enough free software hooraying and windows bashing from me in FCP, it's not really the topic, other than to mention I'd be up for debating computer / social topics in future debates; I find the subject intriguing.

Sdog: I'm thinking about getting one of the Mac thingies; I've been trying to get my work to purchase one for me, with less than any success... they're expensive though? Maybe I'll look on Craigslist...

Visiting Apple in Cupertino was my first introduction to California, back in the 90's. I was so impressed that they have a coffee bar in the lobby: it was a brave new world.
It would be nice to go back; I haven't had a Mac since, oh '98 or so.

Ahh, so that's the objective of the FCP? Entice conversation so we can extrapolate debate topics? It is starting to make sense.

In that case... I would like to go back to furries

my son got a pc from a friend for his birthday with full windows vista installed – just have to organize a monitor.
i am a hardcore mac-user and mac-lover.
sometimes occasionally i got in touch with windows xp or windows something - i really never knew - was confusing for me.

any tips about it? hope he will adjust to it!

@lucid:
how would you define being an arnachist?

i would classify myself more as a non-conformist

and if you guys claim:

Linux = Communism
Windows == Democratic Republic

what the hell is a Mac OS then?
S-dog??

What are the PC specifications? I think Vista is easily the best layed out Windows operating system, its just what the computer will do will make their experience.
