I have travelled throughout this land
Met a Dieing man, and shook his hand
Fought a thousand wars, but never won
Solved the riddle of life, just for fun
And I've told stories of years that passed
Been to the depths of hell, and I laughed
Battled Evil, Because it's trying to take me
The spirit of my heart is setting me free.

Wandering now trying to find my name
The spirits of past, are ashamed
Looking for the truth
It's been shadowed by the flame
Reborn into a chosen life,
No longer hiding from his scythe
Standing tall over death itself
A man just trying to prove himself.

I want to cry but I feel ashamed
My emotions never stay the same
Taking the life of others
All to feed my brothers
Gently breathing, it's getting dark
I'm scared to walk, I wouldn't leave a mark
Here he comes, I can feel the death
Caving in on my lasting breath.

Can this Be all there is? Or is there a Grand Design?
Views from both sides conflict in one's mind.
Materialism , Hatred, Deception and Destruction.
How could this be our divine instruction?
In need of a new paradigm to help us along.
We learn from others in stories, rhyme and song.
Love seems to be the answer in all of this confusion.
Remember "We Are One" in this grand illusion. - Jeffrey Allen Rodia (aka CyborgPirateNinjaJesus)

8 line limit huh? Shows how much attention i pay to the rules huh?

Very well:

The moon last night
with clouds for veils
dancing like a gypsy maiden;
moving cross the waters deep,
Salome never looked so fine.

It was written after a bottle of wine while watching the moon race with the clouds.

Kick me when i'm down
I am a god
Love is everything
Life is no more
Maybe i'll be
Eternal

Hark! Tourettes guy is dead is dead!

I kinda wish it would've have been me instead

Oh sorrowful bloodshed!

Whatever it is he said, was well said.

Tourettes Guy;

Life without you, causes my teeth to grit

Life without you, it makes me cry

These fish sticks are as hard as tits!

Damn you once, damn us all,
We never heard the screams, . .the call,

Too busy being ourselves, weren't we?

Eden's gone, . . .is knowledge our blessing?
Doesn't it evoke such second guessing?

Too busy to care, weren't we?

The cries to end the wars, the hate,
Unheard, unknown, until too late, . . . . . .echo now with our sealed fate.

I'm definitely not a poet, but here's something I came up with just now.

In the blink of an eye
We laugh and we cry
In the blink of an eye
We live and we die

In the blink of an eye
Is all that we have
But imagine what God sees
In the blink of an eye

take wing sparrow;
depart your crooked nest of twigs
the sky is a more colorful sight
take wing sparrow;
vaunt amidst the mistral tumults
dizzy then plummet the wings
take heed sparrow;
every day is a capricious zephyr for feathers

I remember her sometimes.
Her eyes and mouth.
She said she loved me and
her words sat on my chest like a toad
for years afterward.

Maybe it was sometime last decade.
Suddenly I could feel the bombs.
I heard the crying.
I smelled the smoke.
Somehow
the world got small.

My fears blink out
like lights in a small town
at night.
One by one
until there are none.

I've been reading over some of the poems here and there is definitely some stiff competition, good luck friends.

quite poetic to speak of things such as moons and roses
and poetry roses bright moons composes
it closes; every door i ever saw
every thaw winter begins anew
a new winter thaw begins
amends made prior dashed in the briar
because snow is dreadful forgetting stuff…
frozen roses wilt bloom in the moon

T'was only a gleam . . . . in her eye,
that made me again want to try, . . to capture her essence,
I'd been here before, a couple of times,
and had yet to learn my lesson.

T'was only a gleam, though filled with such dreams,
that pulled on the strings of my heart,
I longed for a kiss, from those beautiful lips,
before fate could keep us apart.

Love it. Sparse yet telling. I enjoy how you used one whole line for "somehow", it really sets up the following line nicely. The whole piece is very lithe and powerful. No extraneous nonsense. Well done.

This is what happens when a few of us neighborhood old ladies get together and do shots: "yum"

The faster we down them, the faster we sway
When we head to the bathroom get out of our way

We're feeling the happiness and full of laughter
Our Grandkids say, Oh no, there gettin' plastered

We tell them of things we really shouldn't
Or is it, if we were sober we couldn't.

We tell them to leave us they can't be near
Cause now it is time for us to down the beer

Wishing for Oblivion

I jumped into a well,
wishing I had someone to tell,
what it was that I wished for,
but does anything come true anymore?
