found an a here

"the 1800 of the first try of the third one that is like the first one which is the one now"

-this is the 1800th reply in the first attempt at this game. At least to my understanding, it appears there were 3 "big games", and the last one was stalled and this is the replacement. It makes sense to me, I apologize if my reasoning isn't clear.

Good catch!

That is the second time that they used one of MY posts.

Why do I suddenly feel like they are picking on me?

I understand your reasoning... but (this maybe a ridiculous question) How did you figure out that particular post was the 1800th reply???

Just noticed something. Apparently, they've changed something so that you have to be logged in order to see the clues. At least that is how it appears on Firefox. I was searching the html code for the button when logged out because it made it easier to spot. Now, I can still do this, but will have to be careful because I will pick up every "quote" and "REPLY" button.

Anyone else doing this?

You could start pasting the html source into a regular expression capable text editor and matching the pattern. Pseudo-code for it would basically be: find an href tag followed by 8 digits surrounded with single quotes, followed by whitespace, followed by a class='postbtn' tag, followed by ">", followed by one a-zA-Z (or whitespace) character, and so on...

Shane, I counted the number of posts on 3 separate pages and they all came out to exactly 20. I know that's not perfect as it could be coincidental, but I decided to just go with it. Then I just went to the first post on the 90th page. (90 * 20 = 1800)

And it wasn't a ridiculous question, I just got lucky that it actually worked out that way.

and I was looking for posts by undo. (author of "Stargates are real" thread)

good find, though.

And while still thinking of the other star gate entry, I inadvertently edited the wrong one.

:bnghd:

So, it is still highly likely that the thread in question for the remaining stargate clue, will be by member "undo" or at least have some of her posts.

I am going to reinvestigate this a bit more....

  • Nope it refers to the start of the second big ATS Game, All The UFO Answers.

    Just like the "r" I found for the first big game, Final Answer to Everything.

    hi,

    any one else notice that if you high lite a post with a letter in it the letter stands out because of the box around it?

    look

    the "i" clearly stands out from the white lines around it.

    Just thought it might help with finding them.

    Roswell.

    Oh, yes. I have noted that myself.

    Also, did you know that the box is actually a button?

    Just like the "Post Reply" button, and others....

    but the link is some sort of random number generator, which only appends an 8 digit number onto the end of the url for the page that it is on.

    Which got me to thinking. These "buttons" so far have linked to nothing.

    We should click the letters when we find them just in case one will lead to an actual link. Perhaps a bonus prize or something of that nature.

    For Freenrgy2 (I think) who was asking about a more clever way to match the postbtn text, I hacked up something pretty quick in C# that seems to work ok...

    ATCGrep
    ATCGrep Source

    Of course, you'd need the .NET framework 2.0 installed to run it... Or grab my regex from the source and rewrite in whatever language is appropriate for you...

    To use it, paste html source code into a file on your hard drive. Pass the location of the file to the program as an argument. If there are matches, it will print any lines that match. If anyone feels this is useful, I could probably slap a GUI on this later and give it some more attention...

    /tn.

    EDIT: Also, I experimented a bit with using wget and piping the output to my ATCGrep program. This method does not appear to work, as the codes we're looking for get stripped out during the process. I don't think wget is quite smart enough, which is unfortunate, because it truly would have been a time saver to go that route. Anyway, the program still works if I view source in Firefox and paste the source into a file, then run ATCGrep on the file. I have tested it with known answers/threads and been successful.

    I'm out for a bit. Need smokes..

    UPDATE: Added perl version

    What is the root cause of all of the conspiracies?

    Answer this question but solving the puzzle and the prize is yours.

    Hmmm...

    I am pondering the question posed on the last image.

    Also, I noticed that this particular page is not following the pattern, where all else before had a number to it.

    restart.html ---- the official start of the game

    fifty.html ------ first link
    ten.gif --------- first image

    twosides.html - second link
    20.gif ---------- second image

    solveit.html --- third link
    4444.gif ------- third image

    It almost seems like this link (solveit.html) is out of place here, as it does not fit the numerical format. Perhaps it was supposed to be the fourth link?? I guess we will find out, when we do indeed get the fourth link. (I'll bet it will be numerical)

    and the image will most likely be divided in some way by 6 or 8, if my theory is correct. We'll see it when it happens, though.

    Yeah, I caught that but missed this post before.

    I think they did that too confuse the poor soul keeping track of things here. (by having two clues with "star gate" in them)

    It's all good now, I have corrected it.

    set 1 - 25 characters:

    set 2 - 20 characters:

    ?_e_eewbprsayndthged

    set 3 - 21 characters:

    ??h???naoi_ren_?_ncoa

    66 characters total thus far...

    underscore denotes space character.
    question mark denotes unknown.

    -----------------------------------------

    The letter counts for those interested...

    a = 6 (including the capital "A")
    b = 1
    c = 3
    d = 2
    e = 7
    f = 0
    g = 1
    h = 3
    i = 3
    j = 0
    k = 0
    l = 2
    m = 0
    n = 5
    o = 3
    p = 2
    q = 0
    r = 4
    s = 3
    t = 2
    u = 0
    v = 0
    w = 1
    x = 0
    y = 1
    z = 0

    _ (9 spaces)
    ? (8 unknown)

    ------------------

    I'm still almost convinced that the only capial letter here was a typo, and meant to be a lower case "a".

    I'm going to do some digging on the thread that always comes up searching for these terms:

    ?------------who owns the USA, 60% foreign ownership of securities

    I am thinking along the lines that perhaps there is a link to another thread within that thread, where we will find the elusive letter from the first set.

    Be back in a couple of hours.
