I find it interesting that of the 7 letters we have found thus far for this third set, there are 3 pairs: n, o, and space. And that of the two threads I randomly selected when I started searching, both turned up n.

If you know anything about frequency analysis of modern English, you would know that

e t a o n - followed by s h ........ etc, (iirc)

are the five most common letters used in English. (not necessarily in that order, I don't have the charts that I used to)

So it is hardly suprising that n and o would be chosen at random, even as pairs.

As for spaces, was a mere coincidence, perhaps.

Also note the preponderance of the letter "e" in the second set.

as a side note, do a GOOGLE search for William F. Friedman and "Index of coincidence" this is a paper he write regarding the statistical chances of getting a pair of letters (such as your "n" and "o") at random, in respect to cryptanalysis. good reading.

Unless all the letters from the clue sets will be combined to form a phase which answers the question presented by this clue "What is the root cause of all of the conspiracies?"

We had unusual letters left over from the second clue set. These extra o's are vowels we need.

I've been looking for this one

"extraterrestrial questions, first time, last post of the stargate author"

I am quite certain it has to do with member "undo", the author of the "Stargates are real" thread, or one of her posts rather.

But so far, have come up dry.

This set has a lot of questions that are very ATS-centric, for instance johnlear had a pretty good run in this set.

Actually I do, and I did not intend to suggest that there was a statistical improbability or cause for surprise. I said only that I found it interesting, and I meant that. It is possible for something to be interesting without being earth-shattering (if we had found 4 x's in a row, you can bet I'd be bloody surprised).

I don't mean for that to sound too defensive (my style is sort of terse) -- just clarifying.

/tn.

EDIT: Format correction, clarity.

Yes that is always a possibility that all of the letters will combine for a paragraph sized anagram, rather than just a few short sentences or phrases.

Good to keep in mind...

It's all good. Sorry if I sounded like a "know it all" as well.

Now 4 "x" 's in a row!!

That would be one to wake the kids and phone the neighbors about!

Here's the letter breakdown so far -- by sets, and then combined (underscore represents space, question mark represents unknown character)...

First:
Aaa cc ee h ii ll n o p rr ss t
_:4, ?:1

Second:
a b dd eeee g h n p r s t w y
_:2, ?:1

Third:
h nn oo r
_:3, ?:12

Combined:
Aaaa b cc dd eeeeee g hhh ii ll nnnn ooo pp rrrr sss tt w y
_:9, ?:14

/tn.

EDIT: 1) Ok, I think I have these correct now. Someone nudge me if you find anything wrong. 2) Modified to account for Mech's "r" find.

The new set appears to have several rather cryptic entries.

This on for example

"how to find one who is worthy"

This one leads me to think the answer for it is in the one of the other game threads here, where it referred to "the one worthy"

the final answer will be revealed to the one worthy

from the "Final Answer to Everything" game...

Hmmm... I'm going to check on that, I have a few ideas...

It really should be. But i think that everyone who searched for those terms came upon that very thread, and nothing was found.

I believe that this could be an error, that the clue was accidentally not put onto that thread.

Of course, I *could* be wrong. But it is the only thread that really fits the criteria.
