West Brom have joined the queue of clubs interested in signing West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick.

It is believed Arsenal head the queue, but Baggies boss Megson still has money to spend after signing Kanu, Jonathan Greening, Zoltan Gera and Tomasz Kuszczak this summer.

I heard he is definatly going to Arsenal, they had a meeting yesterday about it and it looks like the deal is nearly done.

A late goal from Teddy Sheringham was enough to secure West Ham's first win of the new Coca-Cola Championship campaign in a pulsating 90 minutes against Reading.

The Hammers had looked set to record their second consecutive goalless draw of the season, but the former England international struck nine minutes from time to secure all three points for Alan Pardew's side.

Yessss!!!!!!

Arsenal have dropped out of the running to sign Michael Carrick but five other clubs are still keen to sign him, according to West Ham manager Alan Pardew.

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric has told his manager Harry Redknapp to pull out all the stops to sign the 23-year-old and may be ready to up the ante still further following a club-record 3million bid after Arsenal decided not to follow up manager Arsene Wenger's admitted interest with a firm bid.

West Ham manager Pardew confirmed: "Arsenal came in but then dropped out again.

Cardiff City have signed West Ham United midfielder Joel McAnuff for the Championship season.

The 23-year-old has made the move to Ninian Park after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical at the South Wales club.

McAnuff's move to The Bluebirds ends his six-month spell with The Hammers, having only joined West Ham for an undisclosed fee from Wimbledon in early February.

The pacey right-sided player should boost Lennie Lawrence's ranks, as Cardiff aim to make a serious promotion push this season.

McAnuff could be available for Cardiff's Friday evening match at home to promoted Plymouth Argyle.

Michael Carrick has been urged to make up his mind over his transfer from West Ham and do the right thing for the club following the collapse of a move to Arsenal.

Hammers boss Alan Pardew reckons the 23-year-old is still coming to terms with his disappointment after the Gunners pulled out of the race to sign him.

But Pardew admitted there are still three other clubs who have met West Ham's 3.5million valuation of the player and he wants Carrick to stop dithering and decide his future.

They need to sort out the Carrick deal. It sounds like it's just up to the player now so he better make his mind up.

I don't think they will miss him at all as he hasn't been that good in the last 2 seasons.

West Ham skipper Christian Dailly has been ruled out of Sunday's Coca-Cola Championship clash with a knee injury.

Midfielder Steve Lomas misses out with an ankle injury after failing to make a comeback in the reserves this week and Michael Carrick will again be left out while the speculation over his future rumbles on.

Nathan Ellington scored twice to fire Wigan to a 3-1 victory over West Ham at Upton Park and to the top of the Championship table on Sunday.

We played pretty bad untill Pardew brought on Zamora and Chadwick. Well we need to perform better than this...

West Ham are giving a trial to Rangers full-back Maurice Ross with a view to a possible loan deal. The 23-year-old Scotland international is being given the chance to solve a defensive crisis at Upton Park.

The Hammers need cover with Christian Dailly out after a knee operation and Andy Melville suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Wales.

Two well-taken goals by Marlon Harewood booked West Ham a place in the second round of the Carling Cup with an uninspiring victory over Southend. Harewood scored first after just 11 minutes following a storming 50-yard run from Nigel Reo-Coker.

And he made the result safe with a clinical strike in the final minute.

But the Shrimpers played the better football for much of the second half, Mark Bentley and Kevin Maher narrowly missing good chances.

Tottenham new-boy Calum Davenport has joined London neighbours West Ham on loan.

England Under-21 international Davenport only moved to White Hart Lane from Coventry last week in a deal that could eventually fetch the Sky Blues £3million.

Davenport will continue to train at Spurs Lodge from time to time but Tottenham hope the short move will allow him to gain more first-team exposure.

West Ham United have had a 300,000 offer for Malky Mackay accepted by Norwich City.

The Scotland international has already been in talks with The Hammers' Championship rivals Coventry City but the move hit a snag due to a problem at Norwich's end.

But Mackay now has the option of heading to Upton Park after The Canaries confirmed a bid had been accepted.

The Hammers are prepared to stump up an initial fee, with the remainder incumbent upon various factors.

Mackay is now thought to be in talks with the London side, with Canaries boss Nigel Worthington preparing for the defender's departure.

West Ham have completed the signing of Norwich defender Malky Mackay in a deal worth 300,000 and have also recruited Charlton full-back Chris Powell on loan.

Scotland international Mackay, 32, was a mainstay for the Canaries during their Division One promotion-winning season last year but has since fallen out of favour at Carrow Road.

West Ham United could welcome back Steve Lomas and Bobby Zamora for their game against Ipswich.

Both Lomas and Zamora came through a reserve team game this week, and are available for the match at Upton Park.

Matthew Etherington scored the winner in midweek against Rotherham and will hope to continue his good form.
