Actually Intrepid..I like to post something that Is not the standard emotional default setting that passes for excellence today. I am not usually that emotional that I will give it a free pass to play through ..especially when it is ignorance.
Also ..no I dont think we should go back to the days of the Cleavers. Women today are doing so m uch ...multitasknig and all..just leaving men totally behind in every category..you know ..doing all the things men are doing and doing a better job of it....they obviously dont need default settings to play through anymore...so I tend to hold them to it..especially when sex and sexualty seems to be their only talent in life. Watch what happens when you try to get one to think outside the standard settings. Talk about flack. I expect alot from the women around me...especailly today..problem is getting them to deliver. Very hard to work outside of the "Girl Stuff " religion when it is ones mainstay.

The texts in Leviticus call it an "abomination" for a man to lie with a man as with a woman. The word in Hebrew means "to become unclean"........ It referred to a violation of the purity rules that governed Israelite society and kept the Israelites different from the other people.
Many things were believed to make one unclean........ eating the wrong animals, sowing mixed fields, menstration, attending to a burial, giving birth; all made a person unclean for a certain period of time. Leviticus 14:1-32 cover cleansing from infectious skin diseases...
vs. 33-57 again discuss regulations concerning mildew...
vs 15:1-33 again talks about discharges causing uncleanliness...
Leviticus 19:19: "do not plant your field with two kinds of seed, do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."
Leviticus 19:27: "do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard"
Leviticus 20:27: "a man or woman who is a medium or spiritualist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them"

All these things were obviously important for the Israelites in their day, or else so much time wouldn't have been spent detailing all of this. Does God mean for us to do these things today? They are obviously given much more time than any mention of homogenitality. These items had more to do with customs and culture at that time, not of moral judgment.

In these texts, the Hebrew word used to describe these behaviors or "abominations" is TOEVAH. This word literally means "culturally forbidden". These behaviors were forbidden because of their cultural and religious implications, not because of morality concerns. The word that was not intentionally not used was ZIMAH, which would have meant it was wrong in itself. When translated into Greek, the word BDELYGMA was used.. which means ritual impurity, and not the word ANOMIA, which would have meant a violation of the law or a wrong or a sin. The author was obviously meaning something different than what many Christians try to make them mean today.

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them."
This verse in Leviticus prescribed the death penalty for this behavior. It really is severe........ But Leviticus also prescribes the same penalty for cursing one's parents....... Other sexual sins also merited the death penalty: adultery, incest and bestiality. The law in Leviticus considered all these crimes to be very serious -- but for different reasons. Cursing one's parents, for example, was a major crime against society. Israelite society of the time was built around the extended family and the operation of the whole family depended on obedience within the family hierarchy. So, to oppose one's parents was to threaten social disorder. As far as adultery, in that society the woman was the man's property, and sex outside of the marriage was also a financial loss for the man....... theft. The wives were bought with a "brides price". It was important that any children born were legitimate heirs.

As far as the reference to homogenital acts, it had a much different meaning then than it is today. Among the early Israelites, to engage in homogenital sex meant to b e like the Gentiles, to identify with the non-Jews. That is to say, to engage in homogenital acts was to betray the Jewish religion....... Leviticus condemned homogenital sex as a religious crime of idolatry, not as a sexual offense, and that religious treason was thought serious enough to merit death. Lady V....we are not under the Olde Testament Law concerning all those stonings and such that you quote. However ..I will give you this..from the Olde and New Testaments. No where in the Olde or New Testaments does the Word ever instruct one to glorify sexuality. No where do you find this as a instruction to believers. However if you read carefully as to what the pagans and the Hebrews where doing ..when they secretly converted to paganism and practiced the rites on the groves and high places in the daytime and the valleys at nignt...they were practicing the sexual rites of the ancients and defining themselves by sexuality....including the sacrafices required by these foreign religions. Exactly what is being brought back today.

As for minding ones own buisnes...I would like to but I am constantly bombarded by this topic ..either by the media, educators, politicians , or other pimps trying to push a postion while telling others to mind thier own buisness..and let these people play through while pushing their buisness on others....publically.

Those christians of whom you speak..have a core doctrine by which many live. "come out from amongst them and be ye seperate and touch not the unclean thing" For those who know the implications of what this means it is very telling. By its very doctrine Christianity is anti social.
Christians are a sect...meaning seperated from. They do not take on the appearence and manner of the world or the latest fad to come down the pipe..no matter how expedient it seems to be.

The doctrine of this world ..which is in direct opposition... is not to allow Christians the ability to sepertate..and to label them for wanting to seperate from this or any other worldlly value which is being forced upon them. This is not tolerance on the part of the world system ...it is intolerance. One has to be educated not to catch on to it.

A couple of questions on the test seemed slanted to me though, and may have influenced the score lower because of my answer, even though it has nothing to do with my feelings towards gay people.

Gay people deserve what they get.

I said "Strongly Agree" because I think everyone deserves what they get, not just gay people. But that includes gays, which affects the question.

Organizations which promote gay rights are not necessary.

I said "Strongly Agree" because I don't believe in Special Rights. I believe in Human Rights, which includes gays, and thusly, affects the question.

I have damaged property of a gay person, such as "keying" their car.

Thankfully, I haven't, but since I've had close friends that were gay, and accidents do happen, what would it mean if I'd accidentally fallen and broken their coffee table, or dropped a glass and broke it? Would that make me more homophobic, or just clumsy? I think there needs to be an "intentionally" inserted in this question.

Straight/heterosexual people never make a point of ramming down heterosexual lifestyle with all aspects of it on all people. Instead they just let people make their own discovery of sexuality on their own, privately.

Gays/lesbians, on the other hand, wanted to PUBLICIZE their sexual lifestyles and make it ACCEPTABLE in the society. That mean three things:
1 - no procreation, no kids.
2 - depopulate the society
3 - make same sex recreation fun.

Homosexuality isn't the same thing as "race" or gender. People are justified in wanting to keep homosexuality away from their children by virtue of the fact that it is not a natural life-style and it is more of a psychological disposition which should be tolerated differently than people's more natural characteristics. Teaching children that homosexuality is even remotely sensible is ridiculous. Teaching kids that homosexuality is a form of sexual derangement is not the same idea as teaching kids that skin color defines a person's value. Teaching should be truthful rather than politically correct. What a person does, a person becomes, and homosexuals are caught up in living an unfulfilling life-style which is really more of an addiction than a life-style. You might as well teach school children that medical grade opiates won't harm you.

Of course I don't believe in denying people housing or employment based on sexual preferance. Nor do I believe in directing violence and harassment at people who have made unfortunate life-style choices. I know that nature has a way of working itself out over time. No one is perfect by a longshot.
