Orangetom, Okay to answer you question, yes I am still a virgin.

Okay anyway, yes because my life is so unberable. Okay I mean if I could actually be good at something, then I might have something to share. But I am not anything. I mean I am like a nobody. Not a Jock, Not a nerd, Not a sports freak, not an overall good person, not anything. When God made me he said, "I want to try an experiment, lets see if I make this guy bad a t everything, I mean EVERYTHING, and see if he commits suicide or he survives."

BY the time you have received this thread, Mods will have wiped me from the site, this message will no longer exist. Neither will I.

Excellent find. I used all my Internet search abilities to find more on this and couldn't.
Great job!

That, and some mother thought her daughter justified in not answering the questions based on the matierial presented in class but instead on her own personal beliefs.

Just wanted to point out that this 'test' was to be taken based on their personel beliefs (before reading the play) and then re-taken after reading the play, which makes total sense to me.

1. In light of the 2000 presidential election controversy, have the students mark “Agree” or “Disagree” for each of the following statements, before reading the play.
...
2. Now, have the students read the play and answer the questions again. Discuss any changes. Are the answers dependent on the country and period of history? the character? the motivation?

Thanks again, Jadette. This is a perfect example of why the whole picture needs to be presented else people get the wrong idea.

This test could be misused but I think in this case, it's probably totally innocent and either the mother or Prison Planet skewed the information. (It almost looks to me like the mother had an agenda)

Great denial of ignorance!

I emailed his site with the information. I don't expect anything, but I feel better.

Hey Guy,
I am not asking for your sexual portfolio..sorry .Im not intrested in your sex life..period. Nor anyone elses for that matter.
What I am asking is if you or anyone else knows the difference in real life experiences or vicarious second or third hand living??
I notice this even with the guys at work in my crew..they are married with children..some even grandchildren. Their reference points in life often stem from movies they have seen and not real life experiences.
I like movies too on occasion. I just know that most of them are movies. Even documentarys one must be very careful about. Movies are not real life or real life experiences for many of us. We have a whole life waiting for us out here.
I tell you this because especially at a young age..this kind of emotional seduction from movies is a very easy treadmill to get put on without us even knowing it and obviously some of us dont outgrow it.
YOu also need to understand that there are people out here even on these blogs who can pick up on these little tell tale signs and see through them like radar..in the dark. It gives them a window into your soul.

One other thing of importance Conspiracy Theorist. I have been for most of my life what people would call a nerd. I think the other word somewhat fashionable is geek. Ive never been a jock and never worried about it either. Its over rated. Also I am not a sports freak either. I never read the sports page of the paper. I have posted this several times in this blog forum

And Conspiracy Theorist..dont beat yourself up about this. Learning and becoming good at something requires commitment ..effort..dedication. YOu dont learn this between sound bites..or movie out takes. It is a lifetimes work. Life ..real Life without sponsors takes work ..hard work. Since we are not infinite in our wisdom..our sucesses are often built on failures...sometimes several failures..before we get it right. Dont beat yourself up over this. You can do better than that by not quitting. This world doesnt have much use for a quitter.
I have been blessed in one thing..Conspiracy Theorist...I have had good tutors. I didnt always appreciate this fact but I do now.

Thanks for your post Conspiracy Theorist,
Orangetom

These “movies” and “TV” are part of culture. (along with music, arts, the Internet, and those books which you obviously love.) I’m sure the same thing was said when the first fiction books came out. Live and let live buddy.

Movies are not real life or real life experiences for many of us. We have a whole life waiting for us out here.

This is a highly elitist comment. I’m sure some believe you read too many books or fine tuning your network. Each lives his life his own way.

I tell you this because especially at a young age..this kind of emotional seduction from movies is a very easy treadmill to get put on without us even knowing it and obviously some of us dont outgrow it.

Who Lucas, Spielberg? Why are you presuming to know Theorist’s future (or present)? He might be Peter Jackson from all you know.

I have been for most of my life what people would call a nerd.

Ha, Ha! Like Revenge of the Nerds, that’s a great movie! You should get that.

I’ve never been a jock and never worried about it either. It’s over rated. Also I am not a sports freak either. Its over rated.

So jocks don’t experience life first hand? What about skydivers? Hikers? And at my high school (not so much at Uni) they got the girls! Ooouuuuuuuhhhhhhh yucky! (you do know that porn is experiencing second hand? Btw also part of the culture.)

I never read the sports page of the paper.

I read that 10 times as many people read the comics than the news themselves. Do nerds read comics?

And Conspiracy Theorist..dont beat yourself up about this. Learning and becoming good at something requires commitment ..effort..dedication. That’s good advise Obi-Wan Kenobi! (That’s a reference to Star Wars, a movie.)

I hope the above made you smiled Theorist. If you’re serious in your last post, I do hope that you find something to be passionate about soon. Don’t forget that however hopeless the future might seem, it’s all temporary. Happiness and sadness are moments. Life always has surprises and can turn around at any second.

If you were being sarcastic your last post, so was I.

Yes I understand these movies and TV are part of culture. That is not the point I was making. Im saying dont be so obvioius about your thinking process that it is second hand...not much outside of movies and tv. As I said ..there are people out here who can see this even across a blog.
I dont find my comments to be elitist. Its just common sense. I also dont have a problem with live and let live. I just see things and speak out about certain of them. That too is live and let live.
As to reading alot of books ..yes I do read alot of books....often with the idea of putting them to use at some time. Thus gaining this experience. I dont concern myself with what others think of my reading books since I know they will not be reading them for me and getting me the specific experience. This is not elitist..it is just the way life is.

As to your examples of Lucas or Spielburg..they are mostly producers or directors in the entertainment buisness. I dont go to them for expertise in the important things in my life. That is the point I am making to Conspiracy Theorist. I dont know what Theorist's future will hold..I do have a clue what it will hold if he doesnt learn basic diciplines to seperate themselves from all the other overly emotional drama queens out there. Emotions will only get one so far..usually in the field of getting someone else to provide the safety net. Other than that you'd better get some diciplines in life.
This is my main point..movies provide mostly entertainment ..not diciplines.
Thinking people know this. Emotional people dont..they think emotions are experience.

My other main point is that you can make it in life without being a jock..dont beat yourself up for this. I think you are over emotional about this too. Going back to Adam and Eve to make a point.
It is a bit of a surprise to go back to a high school reunion and see what happened to many of the people with whom you graduated. The jocks and the cool people. Not all of them but a noticable number. It is overated.
Public School/Private School is just a phase in life..part of the whole trail. You will be learning the rest of your life..not just in school..being a jock is not life itself ..nor is being cool.

As to getting the girls..that too is overated..and not a sign of being grown up..or maturity. It is a sign of consumption rates if you are not careful. You will consume yourself.

Conspiracy Theorist dont worry about getting the girls...get knowlege..real knowlege and learn how to put it to use making a good living. You will have girls coming to you ..you wont have to chase them. You will need to learn how to survive this too.. Quite a experience too..not one you get from movies. Being a man in this world is more than just getting girls/women.

Thanks,
Orangetom

I feel like the guy from "The Shield" right now. Oh wait, dang it. Okay anyway...

Patriotism Test, is one of the steps of mind control in education. You can obviosly see it, the test is Republican. I am not going to spew politics but I mean seriously, its in Bush's favor. The right answers I mean. Its a corrupt test. *cough* bushiscorrupt *cough*

Oh and orangetom, I feel cool though when I associate TV with my life, I can't explain it but it gives me an emotional nboost or something. Like I always think about how I am gonna be really cool in the future or something. Society is changing, but I am not. I still listen to 90's music and wath 90's movies, everything. 90's movies are WAY WAY better than some of the horrible sutff on TV now-a-days.

Really. When was the last time you read Julius Caesar? Are you sure this is simply supporting Bush, and that it has no relevance to Shakespear's play? If this test was given during Clinton's years, does that mean it's just pro-nationalism, or was it not pro-Clinton, it's just pro-Bush? If you think it's just pro-Bush, you might want to read this

junglejake, all I can say is WTF? Shakespeares play. How does that have to do with ANYTHING. lol, oh my god I almost laughed out loud. Seriosuyl, sometimes I say lol, but I don't mean it, but you got me to chuckle. Anyway I will read your link. Lol, this is you, "Are you saying it has no relevance to shakespeares play?" Man I mean just, oh I can't even type lol.

Im not going to debate the point about lousy stuff on television...because I cant. Some of it is in fact pretty lousy.
As to being cool in the future. I wouldnt worry about it. Learn the diciplines to make a good living. That will make you cool enough.
Yes society is changing. No doubt . Im not impressed with it. As far as I am concerned most of it can just go by me.
Im not listening to the 90s music. If that suits you ..no problem. I prefer classical or light jazz..especially when I am reading and relaxing. I prefer music to which I can relax ..not music that runs me...

As to the poster who mentioned Shakespeare or other works..I agree. The grammer alone is better than much of that to which we are exposed today. Much of our grammer today is at a newspaper level...alot of four letter words.
Without a decent grasp of grammer..or our language..how do we describe something outside of a movie we saw or the emotions it brings us.
How do we effeciently describe a concept to someone else and do so with accuracy.
As the older people taught me...when you look at people who could read...back in the 1920 or so..even back in the 1880s..those who were educated...they had a vocabulary of some 4000 to 4500 words and knew what they meant. Today we have a average vocabulary of 1000 to 1200 words and most of them four letter.
While I was never good at English ..sentance structure and such ..I did learn many new words by reading books. A good dictionary was always by my side. I maintain one right here at the computer too even though they can be found on line.
Once again...Conspiracy Theorist...dont brow beat yourself down...do the work it takes to pull yourself up.

Thanks,
Orangetom

before rushing off to work ..a word about being cool in the context of Patriotism.

When you can learn the diciplines needed to take care of yourself..withouth a safety net to keep you from bloodying your nose if you hit the concrete...that is cool.
When you take this further in responsibility to having the diciplines through learning to take care of a family ..and all that this entails..that is cool.
When you learn to do this within the framework of the laws of the land within which you dwell...that is cool too.
Because with all this goes a concept of maturity which allows you to see a bigger picture of yourself and your nation than much of the provincialness we often think is so important. This too is cool. It is also Patriotic. It doesnt need to be put in forms passed out in schools or taken in poll numbers.

Thanks,
Orangetom
